Comments: Hillary Differs From Obama On Social Security

Good for Hillary. I'd have to say that Obama really doesn't get it if he says everything is on the table when it comes to Social Security reform.
Republicans have one aim: to end Social Security completely. There's no possibility of compromise with the GOP on SS; hence, there's no political upside to putting "everything on the table" in terms of a solution.

Clinton added: "You know, right now we've basically funded the two big priorities of the administration - tax cuts for the wealthiest and the Iraq war - from two sources," the Social Security trust fund and borrowers such as China.

And, Hillary is correct. She also said she will not cut benefits to retirees, reimbursement to doctors or push the GOP's efforts to privatize Social Security.

She's 100% spot on.

I can't believe only Hillary and Huckabee were at that forum! A friend told me yesterday that while waiting for her dad to get cancer treatment, two older gentlemen in the waiting room spontaneously offered Hillary their support. Another over-60 at my office also came out strongly for her. I was kinda surprised. Social security was the one big fight the Dems won, you'd think they would want to get out in front with the issue.

Heehee. The new thirty? That makes her too young to run the country.

Not having everything on the table sounds unrealistic to me. Jeff, does Sen. Clinton go into details about the future demographic bulge through the snake or is this about what was working 10 years ago? Past vs. future between these 2 candidates again.

BTW - I guess "all options on the table" only applies to foreign affairs.

Hillary also said that SS was "the most successful program in US government history". What a steaming load! Scragged had an article on this last week and broke down the numbers on SS.
