is it too much to expect that Carl Levin and the rest of the committee Democrats come prepared tomorrow to throw it back in his face?
YES
Come on Steve! That was too easy.

Ethno-sectarian violence.
Ethno-sectarian violence.
Ethno-sectarian violence.
Got it, boys.
Posted by Christopher at September 10, 2007 01:20 PMSteve,
Thanks for the DA & TP links.
As for Democratic leadership, why ask statesmanship of errand boys?
They're doing their best. That's why we're in this mess.
Having been in the military (a long time ago), I know that you have to take orders from your superiors although you may not agree with them. You take an oath to do that, and if you are an honorable person, that's what you do even at the risk of your own life. The only exceptions are when the order is illegal under military law or the constitution. It seems to me that General Petraeus is walking a very fine line here. On the one hand, he is following orders to paint a rosey picture by putting the best face on the situation. On the other, what is the difference between painting a rosey picture and outright deception? I fear he has crossed the line from the former to the latter. But, that's just me.
Posted by PretzelsOne at September 10, 2007 03:07 PMPretzelsOne - like Colin Powell, Petraeus has no honor.
Posted by gay veteran at September 10, 2007 04:31 PMThis senate thought he had honor. Not a single one voted against him for this command. Unanimously approved for this command. They voted against Roberts and Alito. Not a single "nay" from this senate. Dodds, Clinton, Kerry, Kennedy, Biden, Obama, even Sanders. They all approved him. Y'all voted for those honorable men. Or, why would you vote for someone without honor? I guess that makes you less honorable.
Posted by peter at September 10, 2007 04:48 PMYeah Peter, and they all screwed up - once again.
Posted by Steve Soto at September 10, 2007 05:00 PMDeminNewJ beat me to the answer so I'll just amplify:
is it too much to expect that Carl Levin and the rest of the committee Democrats come prepared tomorrow to throw it back in his face?
Hell, yes!
And, Steve, that was too easy.
Posted by clio at September 10, 2007 05:02 PMuh, I don't take any lectures on honor from a pants-pissing right-wing coward like peter
btw, where's Osama? remember him? dead or alive? the only dead are the dead American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan
your Dear Leader, always the fop and failure

That's a pretty poor ad-hominem. Peter's response was reasonable, and factual. All you've done is call him a name. Anyone who knows anything about debate appreciates that once you do that, you've lost; credibility: zero.
Oh, I'd also like to note that if Peter or any other poster that disagreed with the general thrust of this site posted uncapitalised, punctuation free bile like Gay Veteran has, we'd be called a troll immediately, and banned by Steve Soto.
