"Your American troops are the bad guys." Shirin
There you go folks. This is where the opposition is now. The terrorist had no other choice but attack us. They had no other choice but to behead those civilians they captured. Daniel Pearl shouldn't have been where he was. Cpl. Mike Johnson from Jackson, Tn., he's the "bad guy". Spcl. Angela Pitt from Ardmore, Ok., is the "bad guy". Wow, let's get this placed in a MoveOn ad. See how many American's will support your idea and vote for your candidates. That phrase will turn the majority of the electorate to the Republicans easily.
So Democrats, go on and adopt it. You know you want to. Let's see where the American people's opinion is. Let's see if Joey down the street is the "bad guy" over in Iraq. Make sure an use the three inch letters too.
And for those who think the NYTimes is a shrill for Republicans, why did they give a 60% discount($116,000) to MoveOn.org for that "betray us" piece and print it ON the day they wanted it? This media is not biased towards Republicans.
Posted by peter at September 14, 2007 03:31 AMThere you go folks.
There you go, petey, this is where the wingnuts are. Taking the comment of one person and painting an entire political opposition with it.
Idiot.
Posted by iamcoyote at September 14, 2007 05:21 AMI've been waffling about the whole Iraq situation and I think I've finally figured out what my feelings are and why I'm having a problem with it.
I feel guilty. I feel guilty that we went in and fucked things up so badly, and now we're saying hey we did great ("our troops have performed magnificently"), but you Iraqis are so incompetent that you're beyond help, so we're going to leave.
I feel like if our troops are being of ANY help whatsoever, we owe it to them to help. (This coming from someone with no personal stake in the matter. The closest I've come is that my air force BIL was in Qatar for a little while. But I do want our troops to stop being killed and maimed. I'm just saying in principle, I feel obligated to help.) The whole idea that we have to pull out to light a fire under their asses just doesn't sit well with me. It may very well be true, but I feel like we're blaming them for our screw-ups. I think some of you may say that our troops aren't helping at all, but I think that would be too much of a blanket statement.
Also, did anyone see that picture of Bush with that sheik in Anbar who was assassinated? Bush looked all happy and the sheik looked mortified to be seen with him. Next thing you know, he was killed.

Nope. I got him. You're just to stupid to realize it, which is why I'm laughing at you.
Posted by iamcoyote at September 14, 2007 07:19 AM
Really?
Now, you don't really laugh at all, do you?
Nice try though.
Posted by at September 14, 2007 07:42 AM*points and laughs at idiot trolls* You so silly! Heeheehee!
Ahem. On to important shit...
Laura Rozen digs up more dirt on Alexis Debat. It looks like ABC was warned about him, but didn't do anything about it. Plus, France says he never was the "defense official" he claimed to be. And...
...Debat claimed in the spring to have received a "large chunk of money" from the Pentagon to conduct a study concerning radical Islam; when I inquired about the contract, a Defense Department official said he would check into it.
Oh, reaaaally? If there was money, I wonder if it could be followed, and if the trail could possibly lead back to Cheney? Looks like we have another Judith Miller on our hands.

Posted by iamcoyote at September 14, 2007 10:22 AMAs much as it makes me ill, we need more story's out there like Ron Hinkle's: ...last week Hinkle was notified by the finance department at Fort Carson that a $3,000 enlistment bonus will not be honored because "he failed to fulfill his contract" due to his injury in Iraq.
The mans serves his country, comes back with a severe brain injury and "he failed to fulfill his contract" due to his injury in Iraq.
Please... this country has gone insane!!
Posted by Seven of Six at September 14, 2007 11:10 AMSoS, I've heard too many stories like that and you're right, it is insane.
