Comments: Petraeus To Rudy: Stop Using My Picture

Funny thing about MoveOn, it seems that "St. John the Straight Shooting" looks to be repeatedly shooting himself in the foot, at least according to ex Wonkette-er Ana Marie Cox...article in Time here

That'll sure show everybody what a tough old buzzard St. John of the Straight Talk is, won't it!

McCain is cracking up!

What the hell, George Bush can't make a speech without lining up a battalion or so of American troops behind him. How many of them had a chance to say "no"? And, what about using wounded American soldiers to make pro-war ads as Ari Fleischer and his group of chickenhawks are doing? You couldn't make this stuff up. Of course, Patreaus is looking to run for President in 2012 or maybe 2016, and he doesn't want to seem like he's Rudy's man.

Ok, let me see if I can provide you folks with a little education: Rudy did not get "..slapped by the Pentagon."

The article on the tpmelectioncentral.com links to an un-classified DOD message providing guidance to uniformed military personnel regarding political activities "...while acting in their official capacity."

Now, this particular message is not binding on civilian personnel. As such, if a civilian entity -- the Guliani campaign or MoveOn.org -- wants to use a stock photograph of General Petraus in a political advertisement, this particular DOD message does not prevent it.

And then there is this...

"The interesting dynamic here is that MoveOn.org used a picture of Petraeus in its ad, yet MoveOn isn't part of an identified candidate's campaign."

This is true, but also disingenuous. MoveOn is a political action organization and it is very clear where their sympathies are: their advertisement in the NYT was a political as Guliani's.

At least the author of the tpmelectioncentral.com was smart enough not to ask if the General condoned the use of his image in the MoveOn.org advertisement.

leave to Bagless to support using our troops as political props (which AWOL Bush consistently does)

no wonder our veterans are being treated like crap by the Bush Regime

Ok, let me see if I can provide you folks with a little education: "This war is no more than television to me. The troops who die are nothing but props. Bush's pet, Raeus, should be proud that a real American like Guilliani would have him in an ad."

Of course, Patreaus is looking to run for President in 2012 or maybe 2016,

He'll make a great republi-con candidate because he has the major qualification: Incompetent. He presided over two years of billions of stolen dollars, the losing of hundreds of thousands of weapons, and the grossly inept execution of tactics in Iraq. Truly, he is a perfect republi-con candidate.

Still suffering from that high lead-paint diet you were on as a kid, huh?

phidipides and 7of6 coming to a meeting of the minds.

Well, there is still plenty of space left in the thimble.

Well, there is still plenty of space left in the thimble.

You sure are yapping a lot for a guy at the bottom the thimble stuck under SoS's shoe like Bazooka bubblegum.

Any other notes on your harmonica?

Yep, r-flat. It's the note of failure for your entire republi-con party. The scandal is no longer the Vitters and Abramoffs. The entire party is a scandal. Pretty cool!

"scummmmmmm" Want me to play the note again?

Posted by phidipides at September 15, 2007 05:15 PM

phidipides,

As usual, I am in awe of your intelectual acumen.

I am humbled.

Bagley

P.S. shoe = Hsu?

I wonder how hideous that portrait of Bush and Cheney that was put away in the White House attic just after 9-11 when vampire teeth started to develope on them looks by now.

Bet it would scare the hell out of Edgar Allen Poe.

Nothing but caps for you Baggy when you start out a sentence with something ridiculous and absurb.

Posted by Judith at September 16, 2007 05:51 AM

well Bagless, speaking of thimbles, your courage wouldn't fill one

now go ask mommie for another bag of Cheetoes while you play superhero on the computer in the basement. so brave against those Islamocommielibrulfascists

Hsu = Abramoff

You're running out of ='s on this HSU thing you morons do. Here is a list of republi-con scandals from just this year alone. A nice long list from which you can choose more of those = thingys. It's probably best to leave out the weird republi-con sex scandals. I don't think Hsu was doing little boys and girls like you guys do.

"scummmmmmmmmmm" Yep, r-flat. The republi-con party is a scandal. It is no longer limited to individuals.

Posted by phidipides at September 16, 2007 09:37 AM

Republicans used the images of John Kerry and Max Cleland when they were swiftboating two American war heroes, but MoveOn.org can't use the image of Petraeus, who sold out the armed forces because he wants to run as the Republican candidate for president in 2012. Republicans are such hypocrites. Why is it ok for Republicans to lie and slander Democrats, while MoveOn.org is vilified for an ad that tells the truth.
