Comments: Republicans Whining in Their Nooses

It does seem very strange, doesn't it? I mean, these guys can read a poll as well as anyone, and still they got themselves painted into a corner and can't or won't get out. I think they have a plan.

I honestly believe that bombing of Iran will begin in the spring, the networks will eat it up (they love all that rockets-red-glare footage), all the republicans will once again be the uber-patriots, and democrats will be caught completely flat-footed.

That's how they're going to win the next election. And if Russia or China starts making threatenting noises about it, all the better. If the Iranians close the Strait of Hormuz and oil prices shoot through the roof, well, that's not their problem. It's a necessary sacrifice the American people must make to achieve most glorious victory.

Canada is looking better and better...

Expect a real Oktober surprise next year. It's quite likely that an Osama video will show up praising the Democratic nominee, whoever it is.
Hey, it worked in 2004. Dupe 'en once, dupe 'em again.

There may be a less conspiratorial explanation for their apparent helplessness to just say no. It is suitably seamy as well, as befits the subjects.

According to reports, in order to be accepted into the Skull & Bones Society, there is a night where the prospective "brother" is required to reveal all of his deviant(?) sexual secrets to the avid crowd of "made" brothers. (John Kerry may well have heard little Georgie's secrets, but he was already made when George joined. Hmmm, could somebody have told #43 any titillating secrets?)

The idea, of course, as in the ritual need to commit some heinous crime in order to become a (Mafia) Family man and any number of similar rituals required for membership is any secret society, is to make it very difficult to "cross" the membership, because they know too much.

Given the bewildering collection of amoral turpitude continually being exposed by closeted Republicans, is it too much of a stretch to think that opposition research is routinely conducted by the truly filthy operatives, like the Rover, on their own as well as Democrats, Liberals and intelligent people anywhere?

After 7 years of illegally monitoring everyone, this could certainly have built some potent portfolios of pernicious persuasion. It could also explain the bizarre spinelessness of so many Dems, as well. Perhaps rather than predicting conspiratorial wars, although I can't dismiss that idea any more either, what we have is a simple, well funded, criminal cabal of shakedown artists. The rewards for cooperation are extreme, to help salve the conscience, assuming there is one.

"...the Executive, Senate and House will all be in Democratic hands, significant leads built in the House and enough wins in the Senate to be just one more election away from the magic number 60."

And what makes you think that this power won't be abused as it was under GOP control?

DeminNewJ:

I think you have hit the nail on the head. Case in point...Mark Foley. Here is a guy who has been trolling the page pool for years. He announces he is not going to seek re-election and then, a few weeks later, announces that he has "reconsidered" and will indeed run. Perhaps someone put the screws to him to get him to change his mind.

Our country is being run by individuals who are compromised by sexual and financial improprieties. If they go off the reservation, they get exposed through press leaks.

I might add that foreign government intelligence agencies have used this technique to manipulate politicians for years. Case in point, former NJ Gov. McGreevey and his Israeli national love interest Golan Cipel. Cipel, reported to be an Israeli intelligence asset, whom McGreevey met on a fact finding tour of Israel, was squeezing the Governor in order to get appointed head of NJ's Dept. of Homeland Security. This was the last straw that caused the Governor to come out publicly and commit political suicide.

I suspect this type of pressure is brought to bear on many of our elected officials. Reportedly, Senator Craig has threated McConnell privately that he will out him, if the ethics investigation into Craig's Minneapolis Airport bathroom stall trolling isn't dropped.

DC is a freaking cesspool. I say dump all incumbants and castrate the blackmailers.

Let's not forget the possibility of cleansing the judicial branch too. We've got four justices on the Supreme Court who perjured themselves in their confirmation hearings or committed corrupt acts subsequently. Alito and Roberts and Thomas are guilty on the first count and Scalia has that little problem of family members being in the Bush campaign when he ruled on Bush v. Gore, a clear conflict of interest. It's time to clean out the whole damned government of these reptiles. The infestation has gone on long enough.

This country has totally jumped the shark and I wouldn't count on any relief in 2008. You can talk about how bad the current batch is all you want, but the fact is that they were voted into office by people who believe that EVERYONE ELSE's representative is a crook, but our guy is a saint. Until that changes, things will stay as they are.

Besides, what are you hoping for? . . . a crop of newly-minted Democrats who will do better? News flash: the Democrats HAVE taken over, and they're the same old turds with a new polish.
