Comments: What Now?

Try one more approach with a bill that prohibits the war from being funded with deficits, but rather, we must pay as we go with an income tax surcharge. Call it the "Patriot Tax."

The L.A. Times is reporting bu$h will ask for another 200 billion for Iraq!

If that doesn't wake anyone up, not sure what will.

It's a long time to the next election. We will probably have launched attacks on Iran before the next election. CA may pass an initiative to end the winner take all electoral votes and throw the next potus election into turmoil.

You want election reform? End the electoral college, let's go with a popular vote. Draft Gore? Yes, that would be welcome, but I am watching for general strikes or days of prayer as Gandhi called them. It's time to stop the madness and killing.

Paradox, the problem here is you and you're selected party on the wrong side of this. Americans supported this venture into Iraq in 2003, 2004, and 2005. They supported it so much they voted some 62 million strong to re-elect President Bush in 2004.

They grew disenchanted with it in 2006 into 2007. Mistakes were made and our Heroes suffered. This Congress authorized and change when they unanimously approved General Petraeus for this mission and command. He has shown a positive direction in Iraq. Morgues are having less business brought their way. Hospitals are seeing a drastic drop in their business as well. People are replacing glass in large numbers.

General Petraeus has brought this news to DC. As Wes Clark says, he's a truthful person. He knows Dave Petraeus personally. He's been there before. Trust Wes here. Americans regard General Petraeus very positively. His latest Gallup numbers are at 61% approval. This Congress is at 24% approval. Compare the two, General Petraeus comes out well ahead.

Come on Paradox, look at all the resources being spent for a negative result in Iraq. Stop it, we both want our Heroes to come home safe and sound. Get behind General Petraeus, allow him to find and bring a positive solution to Iraq. He's heading in the right direction. Get behind him, unite with him, let's win this and bring our Heros home sooner and not later. You can make this happen. Fighting against it will only keep them there longer. Our enemies there need to see us united against them. That will crush their resolve. We can have peace there, but, we need to be united.

We both want the same thing...our Soldiers home safe and sound. They're going to be there through the end of this president's term. They will be there through the next president's term in some numbers. Peace is there to be had. Let's get it done Paradox. We can unite and bring them home sooner by supporting Petaeus and his mission and leave Iraq mostly peaceful with our exit.

Peter, I don't know how many times I have to refer to you as a brainless asshole. It is also very evident that you have never been in combat. Try reading "The Sandbox" (Salon), to find out what the soldiers in the field think.

Your pathetic Repig gurgling of Cheney's lunacy is more than Gravol can deal with. Oh, and I think Walmart has a special on heavy rope this weekend. Do take advantage. I recommend eight feet, and the instructions for the knot are on the net. Oh, and you will need a chair. A folding one will be fine.

Posted by tempus at September 22, 2007 09:09 AM

There are too many heartless, vicious, propagandized, fearful, greedy, and stupid people in this country. It's over.

Or haven't we noticed that we've allowed a mentally ill, brain-dead alcoholic to completely destroy our treasury, our military, our constitution, and our reputation as a somewhat humane nation? Not only have we allowed it, we seem to give him more power every day to ass-rape and bankrupt us all, not to mention our children and grandchildren, bomb more millions of innocent people in other countries, and start WW3?

Just curious, peter - what would you do if an occupying army bombed your house, took away your water and electricity and job, blew your child's arms off, gunned down countless of your relatives and friends, and turned your entire country into a pile of radioactive rubble? This is a serious question. What would you do?

Posted by Sharkbabe at September 22, 2007 09:11 AM

Sharkbabe, you are going under the assumption that Peter has empathy. I can assure you he does not.

Let's just give Bush 2 or 3 trillion dollars and be done with it.

Posted by Judith at September 22, 2007 09:19 AM

How nice is it that Tempus would push me to take my life rather than face me himself. What a nice discourse this is. Talk about chickenshit. He must have an iraqtion and suffering iraqtile dysfunction. But I digress, Paradox, we can win this and win it quickly. Get behind General Petraeus and give him the support he needs to bring our Soldiers home sooner rather than later. Our Soldiers need to know we're ALL behind them and want them home safe and sound.

Did anyone see that Lt. Mark Lippert is getting ready for his deployment to Iraq? Lt. Lippert is Senator Obama's chief foreign-policy advisor and a member of the Navy Reserve since 2005. Nice to see "he felt a higher calling to support the troops." He'll be there for six months or so, his campaign may suffer by his deployment. Amazing how the new Murddock owned WSJ had such a nice write up and a lengthly article about this great American.

Posted by peter at September 22, 2007 09:25 AM

We didn't take away their electricity nor water. They had 3200 megawatts under Saddam. They have 4000 megawatts now, they need to be at 10000 megawatts to be fully supported. Iraqi's liked their new found freedoms and brought heavily in electronics, cell phones, and appliances. They used to have only two plugs to power, now they have eight or more and the supply can't keep up with the demand. Californian's knows all about this problem, don't they? Water is a simmilar problem. We're trying to bring more people onto the water grid and it takes time to build it up.

The quicker we knock down AQI that there now the better life will be for those good people in Iraq. Try helping them out and let our military do the job their doing. Fund them fully and get them what they need.

Posted by peter at September 22, 2007 09:36 AM

Now that the Senate has dealt with that pesky MoveOn business by telling them who's boss, they can get on with the really important work that's been languishing. Just like Gen Wes Clark advised them to do: Moveon’s an organization, and when it does that it distracts from the dialogue that the Senator’s trying to have. With a renewed spirit of bipartisanship, Congress is back on the job.

One very important and pressing issue for the people is to protect their TeleCom companies. Insure that they remain above the law so that they can keep our phones and internet connections working. Former Clinton officials lobby for amnesty for FISA lawbreaking

Then they must get to work on expanding and enhancing NAFTA. So, we ordinary little peons in this great experiment in democracy don't have to wait for anything. We can work for them as they continuing working for us.

Posted by Marie at September 22, 2007 09:38 AM

Jesus fucking christ peter. Can you possibly be a real human with actual eyes and ears and a shred of feeling?

Never mind. Judith is right.

Man, even Leni freakin Riefenstahl would be ashamed of you.

Btw you didn't answer my question. You're not only a sick cheneybot fuck, you're a pussy. Quel suprise.

Posted by Sharkbabe at September 22, 2007 09:56 AM

A well spoken statement of hope! Maybe we need to grow up and learn some maturity. Humankind has been waiting for many thousands of years since we departed Africa and went in a thousand directions to find a destiny where we might grow into what it is to be fully human. We're barely at the threshold of becoming conscious of ourselves as a species. So let's "Move on" ! Our short lifetimes are brief and yet the awakening process of this quantum human soul can be brought further in each one of us. It's a worthy endeavor.

Posted by Bill R. at September 22, 2007 09:57 AM

I'll ask it again. Would you like to be living in Cheney's Fallujah or Baghdad?

Then why don't you go there? You could represent the good of America, like a one-man peace corps, explaining to Iraqis how lucky they are.

I'm sure they'd listen patiently, admire your brilliance, and come around to your point of view.

Posted by Sharkbabe at September 22, 2007 10:04 AM

paradox,

Have you always been so whiney? Probably the most whiney woman on the Internet.

Posted by Bagley at September 22, 2007 11:30 AM

Bagley, simply fuck off. Seriously.

Posted by tempus at September 22, 2007 12:32 PM

...voted some 62 million strong to re-elect President Bush in 2004.

Or, you could say 139 million strong didn't vote for it. Gad! Could that mayhaps be the reason 2/3rds of those polled say they want us out of your cluster-fuck sandbox?

I recommend eight feet, and the instructions for the knot are on the net.

Tempus, this is just wrong. You should never tempt incompetents with acts they can't comprehend. My god, we don't even execute the mentally ill who are given death sentences...well, in Tex-ass they do... Oh shit! Never mind.

Probably the most whiney woman on the Internet.

I guess that means republi-cons aren't going to be sliding their feet under bathroom stalls at him, doesn't it?

As Wes Clark says, he's a truthful person.

You mean the Betrayus that commanded billions of missing dollars meant for reconstruction? You mean the Betrayus who commanded over hundreds of thousands of missing American weapons? You mean the Betrayus that commanded over ever increasing failures in Iraq? You mean the incompetent Betrayus who wants to be pretzledent? You mean the incompetent Betrayus who asks us to believe him when all evidence shows he is a liar and hack for the Buschco and Cheneycorp administration?

The quicker we knock down AQI...

There was no AQI until you cretins got involved.

We can unite...

"Yes, yes! Join the Skeksis! It is a simple initiation . No trouble! Join us!"

Posted by phidipides at September 22, 2007 12:41 PM

"Bagley, simply fuck off. Seriously."

How erudite.

"There was no AQI until you cretins got involved."

But now that AQ is in Iraq, should'nt we kill them?

Posted by Bagley at September 22, 2007 01:07 PM

But now that AQ is in Iraq, should'nt we kill them?

That's like your mechanic saying, "I fixed your headlights, but what I did caused the transmission to fail. Want me to fix your transmission?"

You really don't have the competence required to fix the problems you've created. That will be better left to people who aren't traitors to America, and so that implies leaving out anyone in the republi-con party...traitor.

Posted by phidipides at September 22, 2007 01:14 PM

"That's like your mechanic saying, "I fixed your headlights, but what I did caused the transmission to fail. Want me to fix your transmission?"

So, I take it that you would not want to have your transmission fixed by this particular mechanic. Fair enough, but let's return to AQI: if not the US, then (in keeping with the mechanic analogy) who would you recruit (hire?) to kill them?

Posted by Bagley at September 22, 2007 01:23 PM

Ah, the cavalry has arrived. Go get em.

Let's apply that to last years election, some 31 million voted Democrats in, leaving 170 million not wanting them. Some mandate against the war.

Posted by peter at September 22, 2007 01:27 PM

if not the US, then (in keeping with the mechanic analogy) who would you recruit (hire?) to kill them?

Anyone...angry girl scouts for god's sake...anyone but your traitorous ilk.

...leaving 170 million not wanting them...

Please. That is ignorance in an exponential fashion. Why am I not surprised.

Posted by phidipides at September 22, 2007 01:57 PM

phidipides,

"Anyone...angry girl scouts for god's sake..."

You are Executive material! Would you consider SecDef in a Leftist Administration?

But, seriously, who would you have take care of the problem of AQI: who is your outsource? You have an answer to this question, right? I mean, you have thought about it and have a solution, right?

....you are not one of those people who simply complain about the situation without having a good alternative: please, say it ain't so :(

Good Gawd, we have a serious troll infection today. Something really horrible must be going on or will be within the Goofer party to get the trolls so motivated. Oh well, let them gag on their pate de fois. And stalls 1, 2, and 5 are open at the moment in the foot tapping room.

Let's send in the Light Brigade and the Spartans.

Posted by Copeland at September 22, 2007 03:48 PM

Hey bags,

7of6, we can carry on this conversation later. (I do think that it will be interesting.)
Posted by Bagley at September 19, 2007 07:14 PM

So may I take it then that you support the war in Afghanistan?

Like many others I was fooled into thinking that might was the way to fight a war on terrorism.
I now believe we need to use more guile. In other words, out think (what was once) a minor group of religous zealots.
Subterfuge, work our way inside, disrupt the teaching mechanism of radical Islam. Also,
give Muslims the things that would endear them to us: Electricity, clean water, a way to treat their sewage.
What do we do? We bring them destruction, weapons, and more war. Who do you think is more prepared for a long war now?
Of course, whatever good will we could have done, bu$h fucked that up totally.

Is that the idea? We leave. They leave.

Hey, (to keep it short) I'm interested in saving American lives. They are free from Saddam, we can't fix their civil war, the Iraqi's will need to fix their internal strife, and I'm sure the Iraqi's will take care of Al Queda.
However, we need to pay them reparations.
Definitely, let's get the fuck out, now. The longer we stay, the worse it gets!

Posted by Seven of Six at September 22, 2007 04:02 PM

Still waiting....

Sorry. I have a life. I'm not sitting in my mom's basement waiting for her to cart me down Cheetos, beef sticks and another 6 of energy drinks. Now, what stupid thing were you saying?

who would you have take care of the problem of AQI:

As I've indicated before: Anyone who can do the job. You caused AQI in Iraq. You people have had more time than the entirety of WWII with open checkbooks from Congress and you can't get it done. You've had everything you wanted and you still can't do the job. You have proven that you are incompetent. You have ruined the finest military force in the world on your failed occupation. There is nothing else to talk about.

Posted by phidipides at September 22, 2007 07:57 PM

beef sticks? There are some here called slim jim's in AZ!
Horrible for the ateries but the boy loves them as a snack. I can't wait to see his face after I tell him what's really in em'.

Posted by Seven of Six at September 22, 2007 08:40 PM

What civil war, things have cooled down. We don't hear those words anymore. Everybodies getting along, they're becoming one big happy group of Iraqi's. We just got to get rid of these AQI people, or at least severely reduce their numbers so the Iraqi's can nab the rest. The General and Crocker will get things done.

Y'all are the only ones, progressive blogs, talking about that stuff. I guess John F. Kennedy will come strolling down Pennsylvania Avenue soon too. And Area 51 will hold an open house to show their goodies too.

Posted by peter at September 22, 2007 09:49 PM

"I guess John F. Kennedy will come strolling down Pennsylvania Avenue soon too."

No. Unfortunately, you took care of that small problem a long time ago. Lucky for you, Liberals don't believe in killing like your spokeswoman Ann Coulter.

Posted by Judith at September 23, 2007 01:24 AM

What civil war, things have cooled down.

And you are absolutely out of your fucking mind.

Posted by phidipides at September 23, 2007 10:37 AM

And you are absolutely out of your fucking mind.

phidipides, I would take that as a given. Peter is either taking crystal meth, or the Manchurian Candidate scenario is viable.
