What's her specific plan for Social Security? What's her specific plan for extricating us from Iraq? (We can't afford to be there till 2013) Why did she vote for the Lieberman-Kyl amendment (war with Iran)?
I can't stand her, and I don't respect her. I won't enable her personal ambitions. I'll write in Al Gore, thank you.
Posted by nyc at October 1, 2007 07:27 AMI won't enable her personal ambitions.
This gripe about Hillary always gets me. How is it that her personal ambition is seen as more negative than anyone else trying to get elected to arguably the most powerful position in the world? Is it a sexism thing? An 'ambitious' woman is bad?
Posted by snark at October 1, 2007 07:35 AMwell, 'nyc' - I cant stand you! Hillary is amazing - and will be an amazing president and leader of the free world!
Posted by Martin at October 1, 2007 07:57 AMI was there...I enjoyed the event....large crowds...i agree handsome newso spoke really well;
like you i share your concerns about DiFi....but great abou state senator's endorsement and that reverand from Sf....I thought the ethnic mix was great...besides the whites and AA, there were asians there too!

There were a couple of young women giving out (or at least, trying to give out) free tickets to the event last Wednesday in downtown San Francisco. I don't know whether it was the general indifference of rush-hour commuters or the fact that the louder of the women seems incapable of pronouncing the Senator's last name ("CLIH-in" is about as close as I can get to what she kept saying), but there was hardly any interest.
Posted by Chard at October 1, 2007 08:40 AMI love Hillary. Thanks for this post.
Posted by coral at October 1, 2007 08:44 AMAlthough she was at the bottom of my list to begin with, Clinton is looking more and more presidential every day.
I am very impressed and fully convinced she will be an outstanding president. This is going to be an exciting election.
Posted by hancock at October 1, 2007 10:18 AMI was there and was really impressed with Hillary. She looked more presidential then any of the candidates including Republicans. She comes out to be sincere, experienced, and compasionate.
Posted by suresh at October 1, 2007 11:56 AMMore people agreeing with Steve here. While I don't think she has a chance in the general election, I wouldn't be too uncomfortable with another president named Clinton.
Anyone catch SNL's opening skit on Saturday night?
Did that rub any of you the wrong way?
Posted by peter at October 1, 2007 03:11 PMPeter,
No I didn't see SNL but I saw Jon Stewart's skewering of Hillary Clinton. As always Jon Stewart can't be beat - it was funny.
Posted by eriposte at October 1, 2007 06:36 PMEri, checkout the Vanity Fair article on the civil war between HC and AL Gore. Wonder where people will be afterwards.
Posted by peter at October 1, 2007 08:54 PMNYC here. Just to clarify: it's not women in office I resist, it's THIS one. And she's been my senator for a while now, so I know her. She was invisible for her entire first term - while the nation was going to war, not the slightest peep our of Hillary. You don't remember that now, since she's dominating the airwaves, but she didn't do anything but offer an anti-flag burning amendment those first 7 years in office. That's lack of leadership.
No one here has answered my policy questions - what will she do about Social Security? Don't care? Trust her? Good luck with that.
Posted by nyc at October 2, 2007 04:02 AMI made it out to Hillary's block party with some of my co-workers from Peace Action West. We were really hoping to hear more about her plan to get out of Iraq, and how many troops she would actually leave in the country as a residual force. The amount of time she spent on foreign policy was a bit disappointing, but our director, Jon Rainwater was able to get close enough to ask her some follow up questions personally! Details are on our blog, voters4peace: http://peaceactionwest.typepad.com/onthespot/2007/10/clinton-in-oakl.html
Posted by Joe at October 3, 2007 05:24 PMHave you ever been to an Obama rally? Mostly bougie whites.
Posted by Xavier at October 6, 2007 06:01 PMHow cool. I would have liked to been there!
