I intend to e-mail and phone my congressman, and insist that he support such a move.

You people are idiots and have nothing better to do then blame this on Bush as well. God this is tiresome. Now listen up, i will explain this fast and simple for you once, this has been a standard practice of the DoD for years. I am guessing none of you have ever served, having a friend that served does not count either. Because the DoD is held to very tight budgets, they scratch for every bit of money they can get including cutting deployments by days just to save a buck. Again this has happend under many presidents of both parties. It is just catching stink now because you do not like who is in office and want soemthing else to bitch about. Equate it to the running back who needs to get x number of carries perseason to get his bonus and the coach is told to sit him the last game of the year. It sucks but lay the blame where it really lays.
