Remember the way it was one year before you were born?

Remember how you were before football season began?

What's the diff?

Gave up on spoiled overpaid athletes long ago. Started when Kurt Flood ruined professional sports. Of course the stupid franchise owners are just as bad and abetted the obscenity with huge contract offers.

We are all complex beings. I can't understand interest in pro sports generally. Amateur sports have some appeal, but college ball has become professional in all respects except for authorized and accepted payment to the athletes.

The Olympics are great, but the media cover the event like an international competition with medal count etc, instead of simply covering the events, the work by athletes to perform a personal best at this showcase event.

I loved the marathon a while back where the athlete finished so badly cramped that his father was out on the track helping to hold him up. No medals, simply courage, pain, resolution, filial love on open display. That was a personal best.

A couple of things;

-Monday, October 8th, is Rep. Dennis Kucinich's birthday. Happy Birthday Dennis!

-My home county, Westchester, is considering making the wearing of helmets by ALL bicyclists mandatory. I'm no Libertarian but I would find this to be an invasion of my privacy. How far is the state gonna go in protecting us from ourselves?

Just got here by Googling "violent ground acquisition game" and can't help but post a month after the fact...

> I’m not totally down on it, of course not, not like Morton Downey Jr., eh, in Back to School, who thinks football is a violent ground acquisition game that’s a crypto-fascist metaphor for nuclear war, eh?

Dude... Seriously?

Robert, Downey, Jr.

Guh.

(Or am I missing something?)
