This mess is long in coming. Iraq was screwed up in '90 and '91 when I was flying over, and that was when a dictator actually ruled the country, albeit without mercy, but I still think it was better than Dickhead Cheney running it.
Posted by tempus at October 8, 2007 09:31 PMThe antics of transient interlopers like Petraeus, al-Maliki and this Gordon Brown fellow are certainly amusing, but what does Moqtada al-Sadr say?

If to them our presence is now counterproductive? You're joking, right? We invaded their country, destroyed their infrastructure, their society (such as it was) and drove all the bureaurocrats, military and police forces from office and exerted a brutal and ignorant occupation for 4.5 years, with dickheads like L. Paul (flat tax) Bremer and (convicted embezzler) Ahmed Chalabi and Ayad (CIA tool) Alawi calling the shots.
How could we have been counterproductive? I can only hope the Iraqi people will enable the craven "majority" in Congress to actually accomplish something positive. Hopefully without the scenario of the last helicopter leaving the roof of the world's biggest white elephant embassy.
Posted by DeminNewJ at October 9, 2007 03:41 AMThe announcement also stated that Blackwater's license expired a year ago and does not have the protection of the #17 by Bremmer.
Iraq also wants to prosecute the Blackwater shooters.
Iraq has bought weapons and equipment from China.
The Iraq government is moving toward getting the US out.
It's always been up to the Iraqis (rather than the worthless Dems) to throw our sorry asses out of Iraq since it's clear we intend to squat there till the last drop of our oil is pumped from beneath their sand.
Throwing Blackwater's murderous goons out would be an excellent start.
