Comments: Running The Campaign Her Way

Taylor Marsh has the actual video of the Hillary/Rolph exchange.

Contrary to media reports, Hillary looks downright polite.

Thanks for the link. I had not seen the clip. After seeing I thought she was not impolite. She did even ask him to contact her campaign so she can send him information about the bill that she voted for. After reading news in CNN and MSNBC, I was under the impression that she was very impolite to him and snubbed him.

When I see posts like this I am reminded of the stern advice from our Elders: we have to win this election, for the Supreme Court if nothing else.

I don't trust Hillary with the middle class, but then I only sorta trust Edwards with it, it's nothing unique to her.

I would like to be a good party soldier, but we shall see.

Two things, though: being a woman and a Clinton holds some advantages for her. If she wins the whole burrito it's true I will enjoy the apoplexy on the right. I don't think they'll be able to handle it correctly and they'll come across as the frothing nut jobs they are.

We shall see. Support and respect is earned, not given.

Paradox, the apoplexy on the right will be starting forthwith, as soon as she smashes Obama and Edwards in the first couple primaries. We will be slack-jawed at the vile attacks coming her way. The 25%er's have no morals and it may actually be amusing, for the first few months.

We'll be seeing the frothing coming from progressives if she loses next year after all your hard earned money goes down the drain for the third time in a row.

Thanks for the video....it showed up the real dialogue very well.....definitely NOT SNIPPY!

mp, seeing is believing. I didn't believe the incident had happened at all as reported.

I want someone to report on the Chris Matthews' type--there are quite a few--who constantly urge Obama or Edwards to go after Hillary.

Well it's no fun if everyone JUST TALKS POLICY all the time. What would the pundits have to chuckle about amongst themselves during commercial breaks?

Posted by snark at October 9, 2007 02:29 PM

You all know what the incident was about. The netroots wanted to catch Hillary in a Macaca moment like they did with Allen but Hillary is not Allen. If people think Edwards and Obama can win the general election, think again. Edwards and Obama are tailoring their messages to please the netroots. If you see something on some libruls blogs, guarantee you that Edwards and Obama would come out a message or press release repeating the same talking points.

It was predicted by some very famous bloggers that Obama would win big if he enters the race so I am sure some bloggers are doing their best to derail Hillary's campaign. Some are taking money from Obama and Edwards and are doing the bidding for them like they did for Dean.

The netroots has become the left Drudge of the demoractic party. It is very sad to see. Instead of honestly debating/discussing issues, the lefty blogs have become a place for character assisnation, name calling, and slendering. I would expect the dirty tactics from the MSM but not the netroots. I remembered 2004 very well when Dr Dean was all the rage. I was here in 2004 when Edwards was the hot item with his 2 americas talk. Obama is the Edwards of 2008 w/ more money in his pocket.

John, John,

I don't know what your grudge against the libruls blogs might be, but in articulate circles, dissent is allowed and not a place for character assasination. Strong opinions are expected and welcome in "lefty blogs". Accusing someone who disagrees with you or anyone else of "taking money" from competitors is actually pretty despicable. Grow up or go away.

Very well put. As usual, some of the best writing on politics anywhere.

It came to me the other day that Hillary Clinton was indeed running a general election campaign. I think it is a very smart move. The more of Hillary I see, the more I like her. I'm still an Edwards fan, but Clinton appeals to the moderates. I ran into an 81-year-old ex-military type the other day who was looking for a Hillary bumper sticker!

I attended Hillary rally in Oakland (CA) and was truly impressed with her. I am convienced that she is the right person to lead this country and repair the damage done by Bush-Cheney in the last 7 years. However, I am afraid that the midwest and south of our country will still fall for the phoney issues of Gay marriage, abortion and guns instead of real issues such as Iraq war, healthcare, education, poverty, etc.

Why is it that the west and east of this country focuses on real issues while the midwest and south is swayed by those phoney issues? It is almost like two separate countries.

I don't like that she wan't say what she will do about Social Security, she won't say what she will do about toture, she won't commit to how many troops will remain in Iraq or what they will be doing, and she won't commit to reducing the policy of "imperial presidency." I don't like that her healthcare and retirement plans are essentially tax credits which don't help people whose incomes are so low that they don't pay taxes.

All these things are not "right wing smears" but are things that I have heard her say directly.

SPECIFICS please

Jayhawk, it seems that you misunderstand her health care plan, and that of Obama and Edwards for that matter.
