Gabe, we've been over this before...Dodd says some good policy things but he is not going to be nominated regardless of how energetic his volunteer force is. sorry.
Posted by T2 at October 9, 2007 06:11 AMYes, but Dodd can move the conversation much more to sane liberal realms instead of the Hillaryland we now find ourselves in.
He could make a good VP case for himself.
He could speak the Truth. Amazing things have been know to happen when truth is widely accepted.
Good for you, Gabe, it's more than I would do right now.

Well, I guess I should just give up then.
That's the spirit!

Anyway, far as I know, humans can't predict the future worth shit. What he thinks will happen will likely not occur at all at the phone bank, and very likely he'll continue to be surprised at human behavior, usually pleasantly.
Dodd could go nowhere but he might end schmoozing with a leather queen that puts him through an experience of his life when he goes to Iowa next year.
One never knows. Do It and See.
Again, good for you, Gabe, thanks for being a good person.
Posted by paradox at October 9, 2007 07:39 AMdon't get mad Gabe. You can support whomever you wish as long as you wish. I do agree with Paradox that Dodd could be a choice for VP...but he'll need to stop speaking sensibly first. The nomination is Hillary's to lose. I'm not happy about that in the least, but I'm stuck in this thing called reality. She'll have to have a massive screw-up to keep her from being nominated and I can't imagine what that could be. Can you come up with a scenario that puts her out and Dodd in?
Posted by T2 at October 9, 2007 07:43 AMThat's wasn't mad, sarcastic is my natural state.
Here is a scenario: People (specifically Iowa caucus goers) make up their own minds rather than giving up all hope and giving in to the media narrative; Dodd outperforms expectations in Iowa finishing a strong 3rd or 4th; the media does what it always does and reports the horserace rather than the issues, but now with Dodd included; Dodd, whose organization is strong in NH as well, outperforms again and takes a strong 2nd or 3rd; goes into Insanely Super Tuesday with all the mo'.
Posted by Gabe at October 9, 2007 08:05 AMhey Gabe, that sounds really plausible. I can see now that there really is a way to derail Hillery....just finish well behind her in the primaries and she's out. Hope you appreciate the sarcasm.
