plans for the weekend?

warning: shameless self promotion

Next weekend, Saturday the 20th, I'll be one of several speakers at a climate change conference at Marylhurst University, organized specifically for the public. Marylhurst is just south of Portland.

It's a great event that started in 2005 because a retired meteorlogist was concerned that his friends, neighbors, and elected representatives were hearing too much opinion and too little science about global warming. He started calling on Pacific NW scientists, asking them to speak or to recommend colleagues who could talk with a diverse audience about climate science and their own research. Before long he had a day's worth of fantastic speakers. It doesn't get more grasroots than that. Please do check it out if you live in the Portland area.

Well, this afternoon a shrimp and crab feast at the VFW where my girlfriend works. Then lots of nothing, napping, playing guitar, reading blogs, getting out and walking down to the river (jacket weather now!)

You go, Christina! Too bad me 3k mi away.

This morning I'm going to see my shrink, then watch Michigan beat Purdue. Maybe catch up on some laundry, skip my high school reunion, and play with my kids.

I'll check in here, stay clear of mentioning Al Gore's name and linking to any Enquirer stories, even if some lady gave birth to a Pigboy.

Firm up plans to depart this country by sailboat, to the Dominican Repub where I can live in peace without worrying about filthy American politics.

I've gotta study for my second midterm. Since I think I passed the dreaded neuroanatomy exam, I ordered a fancy velvet hipscarf from my dance instructor yesterday.

oo Sharon :)

Mal F, nowhere is safe from Cheney and Blackwater ... we must deal with it here or not at all ...

What in the world is neuroanatomy?

Posted by Jeff Dinelli at October 13, 2007 12:01 PM

Something Bush would certainly flunk, as he has no neuroanatomy to speak of. His pet goldfish (no, I don't mean Laura) has a much more complex neuroanatomical structure the Shrub.

Well done, Sharon, and good luck on the next one... I think it's on the effects of crack cocaine on the cerebellum, or possibly a crack in the cerebellum. Anyway, dissect Cheney’s brain just to be sure. It would be a great class project. Just make sure you clinically dispose of the remains, at 4,500 degrees C.
