The Repulicans are a selfish bunch of creeps.children are our only future.
Posted by Gene at October 18, 2007 10:40 AMI believe I read that 69,000 children in Alabama will be without health insurance if this bill is not passed. It's ironic that Alabama has supported this asshole.
Posted by JohnT at October 18, 2007 10:51 AMWhere are these frugal fucks when it comes time to dole out a fortune to the 180K "contractors" fighting the corrupt corporate wars.
Soldiers of fortune, indeed.
Posted by TIKI AL at October 18, 2007 11:18 AMLast evening a drooling Chris Matthews asked Senator Boxer if she had just said Bush is unstable. Boxer wouldn't give Matthews that headline but I wonder how many people think the king is worse than unstable. I certainly do.

because they're afraid some Black kids will get health care
The greatest thing right-wingers have done (for themselves) is to use racism to divide poor Whites and poor Blacks.
Posted by Gay Veteran at October 18, 2007 11:53 AMand Gay Vet, lets not forget poor hispanics.
Posted by T2 at October 18, 2007 11:58 AMNow maybe we can put a better bill together for "children"
Posted by jj at October 18, 2007 12:22 PMJohnT, all 7 Republican congressmen from AL voted against SCHIP, while my congressmen, Artur Davis (D), voted to override the veto. We have one other blue dog D, Cramer, but I am not sure how he voted. But I really don't think they care if the poor child is black or white, they just don't want any money going to ANY poor person. Gotta earn it doncha know, just like those war profiteers. FM.

Posted by gay veteran at October 18, 2007 03:22 PMSo what if the 7 Republicans supported the President's veto. We should know by now that Republicans will always vote on party line. For them the party comes first and country comes second. It is those Democrats who went along with the Republicans that bothers me. Why they think that our children (poor or not so poor) do not deserve the SCHIP program? Why they think that when we are wasting 200 Billion dollars in Iraq, a 35 Billion price tag for our children's healthcare is too much? Why they buy the phoney argument the President gave that this program will be a beginning of a Goverment mandated health care system?
By the way majority of Americans support the SCHIP bill and are against the veto. Only 35% support the veto. Exactly the number of loyal Republican base.
