This gospel singer that Obama's hanging out with, Donnie McClurkin, is a real piece of work. He first burst onto the scene in 2004, when he sang at the GOP national convention.
He was gay for like 20 years, which he says started when he was raped by an uncle. He outlined his story in a 2001 book, says God delivered him from homosexuality and has been counseling boys that it's a lifestyle choice that can be overcome with the power of religion. Like kids don't have enough to be confused about, he's telling them to pray in order to change who they are. Gay teens are more likely to get beat up in school or kill themselves than their straight classmates. Just what they need, get beat up by ministers, too.
McClurkin's been associated with Pat Robertson, saying that gays molest and even kill kids, and are liars and thieves. He has belittled homosexuals who believe they're born with the orientation, saying there's no way that God would've made them that way. Good work, counselor, explain to those kids that they're not smart enough to know who they are.
And good work, Barack, inviting this snake to sing on stage with you. You really should be more careful with the company you keep.

The Hillary numbers are just what I feared.
The Wacko Family Conference....Romney says what he thinks people want to hear..a true politician. Check this quote of his: "It will be one strike and you're ours" for pedophiles on the internet -- "long prisons sentences, and if you get out, it means an ankle bracelet for the rest of your life." Gee, Mitt, will you pledge to apply this to House Republican Foley also??? Does "one strike and your ours" mean they'll be accepted into the GOP?
My surprise with the Wacko poll was how low McOld was. He is pitiful, we knew Rudy was going to take a hit at that conference..but McOld really has hit bottom.
T2, McOld was a shocker. But didn't he say something about the evangelicals like they had too much influence in politics or something? I know they're mad at him for some reason. It's hilarious they may go with a Mormon.
Another thing, did you notice how high Ron Paul scored? How the heck did that happen? A Libertarian would NEVER allow religious groups to influence the government in ANY way. Man, somebody might wanna start paying attention to how much support this guy's drumming up.
"One strike and you're ours." What the hell?
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at October 20, 2007 03:58 PMWhat Jeff, you afraid we're going to sneak a Ron Paul up on ya. He trails both Democratic leaders by 15 points. Scared now?
How about those dishwashers giving so much to the HC campaign. That a girl Hillary, keep it up. We're relishing her general election campaign.

Great fun!
Posted by Bagley at October 20, 2007 04:19 PMNo, Peter, I'm not afraid a Libertarian is going to be elected president anytime soon, I just think he should be getting more attention from the MSM. I've only seen Time pick up on him so far.
And any of the candidates would be screwed if someone investigated their campaign contributions. Ask Edwards about Tab Turner, Bill Lerach, and Milberg Weiss. Pick any candidate there's a screwy contribution story waiting to be told.
And Romo is gonna go off on Minnesota's pass defense tomorrow.
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at October 20, 2007 04:27 PMAnd Romo is gonna go off on Minnesota's pass defense tomorrow.
I'm sure they'll win but let me remind you of the Buffalo game. They had one of the worst pass defenses in the game and almost won... oh, and they did have... what, five interceptions?
Speaking of Buffalo, watch out for the upset tomorrow over Baltimore.
Posted by Seven of Six at October 20, 2007 04:59 PMRon Paul was booed at the "values" forum when he told them that you can't legislate morality, there is no constitutional foundation for a federal ban on abortion and that Iraq is not a "just" war. I too am surprised at how well he did. Third party bid, perhaps?
Posted by skeptic at October 20, 2007 05:16 PMSoS, you're a madman, but I'm too experienced watching you at work to doubt you. I'll keep an eye on that game.
Skeptic, R Paul has publicly stated he won't run as a 3rd party candidate, though I and my Libertarian friend wish that he would, for different reasons. I would like to see him split the GOP vote, while my friend actually thinks he can win. There's a guy on our busiest street corner in town every day, holding giant Ron Paul signs and wearing a pirate hat. Maybe I'll interview him for The Left Coaster. "What is it the rest of us are missing about Dr. Paul? And what's up with that hat?"
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at October 20, 2007 05:28 PMJeff, I wish you would interview him for the LeftCoaster. He would take heat from it from the GOP wingnuts, but I'm sure he would agree to it. Sure he would split the GOP vote. Actually, I think he would kill the GOP if he ran as an independent. They would come in third. But I also think that he could be a serious threat to the Dems with their (primarily the leaderships) dragging their feet on Iraq.
If he did render the GOP irrelevant that is not necessarily a plus for the Democrats since their banner seems to be "We're not the Republicans."
Posted by skeptic at October 20, 2007 05:49 PMSkeptic, I was talking about the dude in the pirate hat, hell YEAH I would interview Dr. Paul himself! I should look into that, he's been on Bill Maher's show a lot, I've heard him on Air America Radio.
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at October 20, 2007 05:56 PMRon Paul's threat to abolish Social Security is crazy. Since I'm disabled I could not support him.
Posted by Seven of Six at October 20, 2007 06:22 PMOh, don't get me wrong, SoS, I could never support a Libertarian, either.
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at October 20, 2007 06:27 PMSoS, you are not stating Paul's position accurately. Here is an interview of Ron Paul on PBS. Pay particular attention to the first 3 minutes of part 2.

didn't McCain repeat his opposition to torture? that may be what upset the fundies, gotta torture a Muslim for Christ
Posted by gay veteran at October 21, 2007 06:27 AMOne of the things the corporate media neglect to mention is that some of Hillary Clinton's negatives come from liberal and progressive voters who don't want a pro-war candidate and don't want a return to the smarmy conservatism of the Clinton era.
