This comment isn't about Blackwater...I guess it could be tangentially. The big news out of Iraq today is that the biggest dam is in terrible condition and will collapse with the slightest push, killing potentially thousands. If it were me running Iraq, not George W. Bush, I'm not sure I'd like to alert the multitude of terrroists operating in Iraq about this rich target.
Posted by T2 at October 30, 2007 08:05 AMI read last week that Blackwater mercenaries drew arms against our own soldiers - had them on the ground with weapons pointed at them. Not a word of this outrage in the MSM, of course.
Our government professes to support our troops. I wonder if they support them even against Blackwater.
We no longer live in a democracy. My granddaughter was born into a police state where she relies upon the good will of her ruler for everything. She has no constitutional protection whatsoever.
Blackwater will eventually be the enforcer for our government when they can no longer rely upon the military to do their bidding.
I asked my brother in law who worked for Blackwater this question, Who does Blackwater answer to?
He never answered directly but this is what he had to say:
All Blackwater employees have to swear an oath of allegiance to the Constitution of the United States prior to employment. Just like any military or law enforcement professional in the United States. To say this company has ambitions to undermine the right of Americans, or that they might go off on a tangent for their own good is ridiculous. That would be akin to the NYPD or Phoenix P.D. deciding they wanted to overthrow the United States... I would say the screening process both physically and psychologically is more thorough than most agencies. Additionally, the prospective contractor is required to attain a security clearance. Anyone who has been through that process can attest to the line of question s your neighbors, coworkers, bank and family must answer for the clearance to be approved.I am more concerned about the fast food and tobacco corporations degrading the health and of this nation than I am about any Security Company working overseas for the United States.
There was more to our conversation but this was the gist of it. My wife hates it when I discuss politics with her sister's husbands.
This latest Shitwater/State Dept "news" is a comedy of out of control corruption and malfeasance. It is also the start of a brownshirt domestic "conservative" militia for the suppression of lib'rul dissent. This new system of immunized lawbreaking signals the true beginning of the end.
The regular military has been completely Prussianized and now has open contempt for the Congress, the law and lib'rul citizens, it will never do anything to oppose its colleages in Shitwater, which is made up of (well paid) veterans.
The entire executive branch has now been politically conservatized and the Congress has become an ineffective Weimar parliament which can accomplish nothing and bring no one to heel. Everyone in the Congress can hold hearings, scream, even "cut" funding all they like. Their writ no longer runs anywhere, that is quite clear. They are no longer taken seriously as having any role under the constitution and have no ability to effect the situation any longer.
The rule of law has been almost completely subverted for the executive's "friends", with all executive wrongdoers granted before-or-after-the-fact "immunity" for whatever illegal acts they undertake or are ordered to do. The law will soon only be mobilized against Bush's political opponents. The Repub judiciary will without question go along.
We are watching the end of the republic and constitution before our very eyes. Pay close attention and watch out, known lib'uls and regime opponents are now in danger.

No doubt euzoius, as well as the whole intelligence community.
The first task for a newly elected Democratic President would be to purge the rolls. At least make it even or non-politicized.
I very much doubt there is going to be a newly elected Dem president, seven, after the electorate's absurd and tragic failure in '04, abetted by the state/corporate media. And the civil service rules don't allow for wholesale purging-- the cancer has taken over and it is metastasizing.
I predict another authoritarian, law breaking GOoP strongman will be narrowly elected in 08 and the march to an American 1933 will continue.
Posted by euzoius at October 30, 2007 08:58 AMRove and Chaney have collected Congressional Dem skeletons for the past six years. No, Congress will not do anything about Blackwater. As Atrios would say: simple answer to simple question.

Including the toxic Pelosi-mad chimp variety.
