This book was also just reviewed in the New York Review of Books.
This is the "national security" strategy that the Dems need to start attacking with---that Cheney's militarism is exactly the WRONG way to prevail against Osama and the "war on terra". Stop trying to modify the Repubs' more insane militarism frame---say flat out that this approach will mean we fail. The data's all there, and the public is open to the argument, I believe.
Posted by euzoius at October 31, 2007 07:45 AMPretty much the last of the Old Bushies is fleeing the S.S. Georgie. Karen Hughes, who already bailed once, is bailing again, having found the task of repairing the World's view of the United States under the Bush presidency..well.....impossible. Hughes is headed back to Texas and will join Rove and Pretty Boy Perry in trying to elect the next Bush (Rudy G.) and trying to re-elect Bush enabler John Cornyn. The amount of firepower heading back to spearhead the GOP Texas elections makes one wonder if the state might be in play...at least competitive. Certainly Cornyn is tetering, and I've seen/heard hard-core Bush supporters wincing at the mention of Bush's name. I don't think the GOP can count on a single Hispanic vote, now that the Border Fence is being built. Remember Pretty Boy Perry only managed to get re-elected last year with 39% of the vote and would have easlily been defeated by the little-known Dem challenger had not two "independents" ran the race also, splitting the vote. Ron McCaul, GOP Rep, who benefitted from the DeLay redistricting scam (McCaul now represents both hard-right west Houston and liberal portions of Austin, 150 miles away) was re-elected with only 55% ....well below the predicted landslide against a no-name Dem opponent with no money. Makes you wonder.

Ah, you forget Abu Gonzales is hispanic. I suspect he still would vote for a Republican. He too is a true believer.

"What a boondoggle 9/11 has been for the merchants of war, who this week announced yet another quarter of whopping profits made possible by George Bush’s pretending to fight terrorism by throwing money at outdated Cold War-style weapons systems."

Due to lavish bipartisan indulgence in outdated Cold War-style weapons systems and the style of war it dictates, they hate us more but fear us less.
In honor of Halloween, some tax and spend Democrats from the great state of Iowa.
Where's idiosynchronic? This is an outrage!
Posted by snark at October 31, 2007 11:13 AMsnark, it's the war on Halloween, I tell ya! Why isn't Bill O'lie-ly on this??
Posted by iamcoyote at October 31, 2007 11:24 AMPrariewolfette and snark: Bill O'Loofah is probably BEHIND the Iowa Great Pumkin Tax.
Halloween has it's roots in a 3,000 year old Irish Pagan Holiday and therefore is a huge "factor" in the fictional war on Christmas that lives in Bill's lesbian loving mind.
T2: It was just reported on CNN that Karen Hughes was accused by the Muslim world of not having an understanding of their culture.
News Flash: With the exception of the upper 10% wealthy folk and brainwashed trolls she has no understanding of American culture, either.

TIKI, you may be right. One would think O'Liely's freedom of religion stance only applies to one belief system. But that would be unAmerican, wouldn't it??
