Comments: Clinton Withstands All-Out Attack

"name one candidate who could have stood up to the bashing---"

That is a bald and unsupported assertion: that only Hillary can withstand criticism. That is a joke.

The Democratic Party may have second thoughts on Hillary, as it certainly now must have on Barack. I don't think Edwards was ever seriously considered by the mainstream Dems, and the other guys are also-rans. I've said before that contrary to the common thread, this field of candidates isn't as strong as they'd like us to believe. Are the collectively better than their GOPer counterparts....certainly. But the one fatal flaw (and not necessarily the one Karl was thinking of) is that we are very likely to be asked to vote on putting the first woman ever in the White House. Clearly the GOP is not ready for that, regardless of whom it might be. And I'm not so sure the Democratic voters are ready for it either. Seeing today's Blogs frothing at the "sexist" nature of last nights program only highlights the historical first that the Dems will likely ask the electorate to provide. If they get cold feet, hello Rudy=Bush.

T2, I originally thought that this was a solid field of Democratic candidates, as my prior posts over the last six months would reflect. But I now think this is an average field.

Oh, you guys are full of yourselves. That was a great fucking post!! Who writes like that? Who's picking up the Hunter S. Thompson torch?

Fuck. I wish I would've watched the debate now. Gonna hit YouTube now.

As for the content, it's not like we didn't know Hillary was gonna get hammered with this shit, but to have it coming from Russert and calling it a "candidate debate" is bullshit.

I think Jeff has nailed the question of "why DO people hate her so much?" And done it in a highly entertaining way.

POLITICAL BLUEBALLS!! HA!!!!

Tweety on Hardball today:

"Pat Buchanan, What do make of Hillary's proposal that we hand out driver's licenses to people as they pass under the fence at the, uh, Mexican border?" (TIVO exact quote)

Funny, I watched the whole "debate" and didn't hear her say that. Very unfair.

When Tweety was a whippersnapper did he have a nanny named Hillary who kicked him in the balls 3 times a day? This Hillary hating is going to get her more and more female votes.

Is that the sound of Hillary supporters realizing that the media honeymoon is only going to last until it apppears she is a lock to be the nominee? That we can now look forward to 8 more years of Clinton obsession by the pumpkinheads of the media universe.

Some of us warned you. Thanks for not listening.

BTW, whining about Hillary facing attacks from *her own party* and then turning around and slamming Edwards with cheap trial lawyer stereotypes only makes you look like an ass.

If you want to take a swipe at the competition, fine. Just spare me the holier-than-thou bullshit.

Steve, the problem from the start was the alternative to Hillary. It was Obama? really ever? Edwards? The world waited for Gore and when it was clear that Hillary had basically got the cart running downhill before he even could consider jumping in the air quickly went out of that.....I think this two year out presidential primary has been shown to be totally flawed, but with the citizens anxious to the max to be rid of Bush..that's the way it played out. Now we have Hillary, and 20 point back, the sinking Obama ship. Can you see Hillary floundering to the point of losing the nomination? I can't. You'll get your endorsee, like her or not. The general election will be Bill Clinton's wife against Rudy=Bush. The only good thing is that everybody still likes Bill, even if they don't like Hillary. The better thing is that everybody hates Bush.

I think this is a good field of candidates. Hell, I like Joe Biden now better than Joe Biden 20 years ago. I almost wish he were the nominee. I'd be more sure what I was buying with Biden.
Obama is an opportunist with no spine, while Hillary is a very intelligent opportunist with a backbone of steel. How could anyone prefer Obama to her?
Ugh.
I have come to like Edwards recently, slightly more than tepidly.
Gore would be my first choice, of course.

This is a strong field of Democratic Presidential candidates. The problem is the brainwashed xenophobic immature selfish greedy bigotted electorate. That's why we've had the republicans in power so long screwing the U.S. public's brains out.

Actually, I would've brought up the time Edwards channeled a fetus in front of a jury.

I think it's a pretty good field also. The problem for the other candidates as Juan Williams pointed out on NPR is saying "aha, I tripped her up" is not going to elevate their candidacies.

As for the unelectable part, I distinctly recall Bob Kerrey in 1992 saying the exact same thing about Bill Clinton. In fact the latter half of his candidacy consisted exclusively of "Bill Clinton can't win." How'd that turn out?

If they keep up with this all out assault on Hillary they are going to wear themselves out because she is one tough cookie.

How was anybody suppose to stop Hillary from running for the presidency? It's her right so more power to her. I myself am still waiting until the primaries get under way.

And don't kid yourself into believing the MSM won't heap maximum scorn on whichever dem wins. Yes with fervor and intensity equal to anything Bill and Hillary have experienced. Even if Joe Biden became pres, the media would go after him like he was dating Monica Lewinsky and his middle name was Muhammad.

Nobody on the dem side will ever escape the onslaught.

awwww, poor Hillary the FRONTRUNNER is being attacked in a debate

"...the multi-millionare former trial lawyer who won record jury verdicts and settlements in cases alleging that the botched treatment of women in labor and their deliveries caused infants to develop cerebral palsy...."

yeah, "those people" don't need their day in court, what we need is tort reform. what a load of crap
