Comments: The Incompetent Nancy And Steny Show

the bigger the tent, the more likely it will leak.

Um, I'm not so certain after watching them lately that it is really a matter of pure incompetence. Methinks there's more disagreeement between the leadership and progressive democratic members of it's own party than there is between pukes and the Dino leadership. The good ole boys/girls club that makes up the democratic leadership is really more of the same rubberstamp republican caucus. Remember and just like many repukes, with the dino leadership it's not always what they say it's what they do and how they vote/handle the vote.. I personally think the dino leadership is taking us all for chumps, by pretending to be a bunch of chumps.

Down with ethnopolitics. Forever.

Racism is done. This is the age of culturalism.

and yet never demand the same discipline with the Blue Dog Democrats?

Exactly the point to be asking our (in)trepid Leadership. There is something that does not add up to innocent boneheadness, hapless innocence , or just "bad advice".

Hoyer, Rahm, (outmaneuvered?) Pelosi, Reid, Feinstein, Hillary? and their DLC ilk have engaged in actions designed to undercut any progressive gains. All too often, their votes are just what is needed to prevent a (Required for Democrats ONLY) 60 vote margin or veto proof majority to pass a bill. Perhaps they reason that, if our milieu on election day, a year from now, is one of recession, economic collapse and military action to attack another country that does NOT pose a threat to us, but has lots of oil, "Democrats" will gain seats.

Unfortunately, for me, that's not enough justification to fail to defend the constitution and even the rule of law!

once again at some point Democratic "incompetence" or "spinelessness" becomes complicity

This demonstrates the huge problem in American politics today. We have now developed a pattern whereby special voting blocs hold parties hostage for their demands, which, so far, are mostly illegal or unConstitutional, RE: the christian right. Then, if these special interest groups (who all claim the country really belongs to them, they are persecuted, and they should take over the country) threaten to throw the county to the opposition if their demands aren't met.

It's unfortunate that the Democrats don't stand by what's legal and Constitutional and let the chips fall where they may. They might lose some special interest group, like the Hispanic Coalition, but in the long run people who really care about democracy would vote DEMOCRATIC.
