Comments: A Vote For Dennis Kucinich

"I think she'd make a fine President, and would gladly support her in the general election, for I believe she's far and away the strongest, smartest and most experienced candidate among those who currently stand atop the polls."

Yes, I agree wholeheartedly. (OK, I have a soft spot for Obama; when he gave his speech at the last convention, I couldn't stop shaking. I felt that I was in the presence of the real deal.)

Hillary Clinton suddenly seems to have "come into her own," as my mother used to say. She is confident, knowledgeable, presidential.

What's puzzling is the hatred she seems to stir up from the crazed beasts on the right.

I will never forget instructions from Republican strategists to the rancid masses on how to portray her: as every man's first wife.

That is, dump onto Hillary Clinton all your woman-hate: mommy, wifey, etc.

I find it truly repellent.

Sorry OT, but thought you might be interested in Bill Moyers show tonight on PBS:

Historian Thomas Cahill examines American attitudes toward cruelty.

There are other candidates, including Kucinich, that have more experience and would be more suited for the Office. However, Hillary was crowned the queen from the beginning.

OMG, I hadn't heard that before, but I think you've hit on it! Suddenly, it all makes sense.

Jeff, this is a very nice exposition, well done!

jeff,
a great post.
"a doomed sense of alienation on ones own turf"
thankfully posts like this reduce the lonliness of the alienation. i voted for jesse jackson in the 1988 primary and i feel better about that than my vote for mcgovern for president.
i think i will vote for kucinich also. i saw him
talking about the cheny impeachment on tucker carlson and he was great. never wavered.
thanks for cheering me on a friday.

I decided long since to be a 'conscience' voter, and at the same totally eschew Hillary. My first choice, if he's serious, is Kucinich. Second choice, Edwards. Third choice, NFI.

There is no such thing as "wasting your vote." In the face of 90-ton memes, let us show the courage Dennis does.

Careful, truthful, well-written, and especially, heartfelt posts are the very best ones. Kudos, Jeff!

You can find the story of the assassination attempts on Kucinich on youtube.

kucinich has the luxury of not having a snowballs chance in hell getting the nomination..that gives you an awful lot of freedom in speaking your mind...when you ain't got nothing you got nothing to lose

Great post, every word spot-on.

dennis, I see your Dylan and raise you one:

For them that must obey authority
That they do not respect in any degree
Who despise their jobs, their destinies
Speak jealously of them that are free
Cultivate their flowers to be
Nothing more than they invest in

While some on principles baptized
To strict party platform ties
Social clubs in drag disguise
Outsiders they can freely criticize
Tell nothing except who to idolize
And then say God bless him

While one who sings with his tongue on fire
Gargles in the rat race choir
Bent out of shape from society's pliers
Cares not to come up any higher
But rather get you down in the hole
That he's in

But I mean no harm nor put fault
On anyone who lives in a vault
But it's alright, Ma, if I can't please him

"...it's very difficult to recognize my voice, my views, my concerns in the media today...."

b-b-but pants-pissing peter says we have a LIBERAL media!

no, we have a corporate owned media, and they are pushing the corporations' agenda, and that is why "kucinich has the luxury of not having a snowballs chance in hell getting the nomination"

Fucking. A.

Brilliant, passionate post.

Your gayness, Harvard did the study. The same Harvard that won't allow ROTC on campus. No Harvard money may support any organization that excludes homosexuals—even the US armed forces, which protect the freedoms we have to debate this dilemma. The very same Harvard your gayness. Then there's this...

Come on folks join with the Congressman K, the guy sees UFOs. Get behind him, fund him, or fund Ron Paul, he's got a better chance than his fellow congresscritter.

Is a man who can't identify something wizzing around in teh sky, more delusional than a man who hears GAAWWD telling him to get a war on with some vulnerable peoples to steal their natural resources?

Posted by Sharon at November 10, 2007 08:40 AM

Peter, whatever.

Anyway, so, The Left Coaster is endorsing 2 candidates? Hillary and Dennis? Weird. But I do like Dennis better than Hillary. I think I'll vote for him.

Posted by Brian Bell at November 10, 2007 09:46 AM

Oooohh, Brian Bell, no, I don't pretend to speak for the Left Coaster at all, it's not my site, I just wanted to put my two cents in. It's not meant to be an official Left Coaster statement.

Sharon, if you went camping and told me you saw something in the sky you couldn't identify, I'd say, "Huh!"

If you told me you heard voices that told you to start a war, I'd call 9-1-1. And so would you.

pants-pissing peter yet again ignores the fact that corporations own and control the media, not their employees

you know, "liberals" like General Electric

the stoopid, it burns

Posted by gay veteran at November 10, 2007 03:31 PM

Brian, the Left Coaster isn't endorsing any candidate at this time, as I said when I made my personal endorsement of Hillary back in July. Each of the editors is free to endorse whomever they choose, and I never demand that any subscribe to my views.

Posted by Steve Soto at November 10, 2007 03:34 PM

Jeff and Steve, particularly Steve, hey, whatever you say. I pick up a NY Times or even a Poughkeepsie Journal, or visit their sites, and I see editorials by the editors endorsing one candidate, then as far as I can tell it is an endorsement by the publication whether the editorial is signed or not. If I see the same thing in the same publication endorsing a different candidate in the same race some time later, well that's a little odd. Run your site as you see fit, but by any traditional measure your site has endorsed two candidates. Hey, why not? It's not like a Blog has to play by the same rules as traditional print publications or their sites. It's just a little different is all in this case.

Posted by gravel kucinich paul nader at November 11, 2007 03:38 AM

Brian Bell, you're confused guy. the NY Time editorial BOARD will endorse a candidate but that's the entire board's decision together and typically comes late in the game. but i can assure you that not all of the editors share the decision that is made. The Left Coaster has not released an editorial BOARD endorsement that i've read. Jeff Dinelli is clearly writing the blog article from his own perspective, so you trying too hard to see things otherwise. cheers!
