Comments: Things Are Getting Nasty On The Campaign Trail

" For whatever reason, I think Edwards' hatred of Hillary runs that deep. " well, Jeff, that seems to be the case with quite a few people. I just hope people hate Bush more, because Rudy=Bush.

"How do we beat the bitch?"

Answer: You don't. You can't. But that certainly shouldn't stop you from disgracing yourself in the process.

Also, I want to see or hear an interview where Coyote asks Edwards to explain his white-hot hatred of Hillary. 8)

I wouldn't be surprised if he refuses to endorse the nominee when he drops out. He's gonna take his ball and go home.

Rudy=Bush

Who started this mantra?

Posted by MaskedVigilante at November 13, 2007 02:18 PM

Rudy- by taking any and every Bush position on the War on Terror to prove he's the only tough guy in the race. It also proves he's an idiot and several other things. If the Dem candidates have any smarts they'll be repeating Rudy=Bush every other sentence.

Posted by T2 at November 13, 2007 02:27 PM

Should be Rudy = Bush (squared) since he'll be twice as assholish (if that's possible). And I don't need to ask Edwards why he's being the attack dog - number one, it gets you press, and number two, it makes the Russerts of the world happy, and they'll give you more press. I'm disappointed he's made so many missteps. I'm sad that Obama has decided that sucking up to the media is the way to beat Hillary. But who was it that said yesterday, the media has turned Hillary into your most psychotic girlfriend, ex-wife, bitchy mother, etc? You can see how it's playing out right there.

A-freaking-men.

I'm sad that Obama has decided that sucking up to the media is the way to beat Hillary.

This has been Obama's signature ability since day one. Obama's hype has always been far greater than his actual results or even ideas. It's diagnostic of his relationship with the media.

the media has turned Hillary into your most psychotic girlfriend, ex-wife, bitchy mother, etc? You can see how it's playing out right there.

Oh, sweetie, they haven't even started yet. Especially in combination with the coming negative ads that are going to start appearing in the next couple of weeks.

idio, I'm sure they've already got their shit in the can, and their splash graphics at the ready. In fact, from what I hear, they're recycling the old shit because they're too lazy to come up with new shit to fling. Personally, I think it's going to backfire, just because the volume will be so great.

Well, I think that whoever is asking the question is full of crap. Why in hell is the media asking that when, as far as I know, get ready for this,

NOT ONE FREAKING VOTE HAS BEEN CAST FOR PRESIDENT AS YET.

Maybe we should be asking why all of the other candidates are so eager to validate the god damnable media narrative that it's all about Hillary Clinton. Why didn't they ask about endorsing Obama, or Dodd? Why is it just Hillary? Why was that debate all about Hillary Clinton? Why were the questions centered on Hillary Clinton, as opposed to, I dunno, issues and reasons to vote for candidates? Why are these debates so painfully uninforming us about the candidates themselves and all about the race and the polls and who has momentum this week, before votes are cast?

This AFP article is a prime example of what I'm talking about, I'll bold my highlights.

Her air of invincibility took a hit this week amid reports that her staffers had planted audience questions, combined with fresh criticism by Democrats who accused her of shifting with the political winds during a presidential debate two weeks ago.

Although the former first lady still leads the pack of Democratic contenders for the White House, polls released Monday suggested that her campaign was losing steam.

Quel surprise, people are changing or making up their minds as they torturously parse out information about the candidates, little thanks to the news media.

Need I remind everybody, despite what you've seen, the race hasn't actually started, no delegates have been awarded, no votes cast, nothng real has been done, except the campaigns have built their campaign organizations.

Personally, I would have thrown the reporter off the bus for asking such a presumptuous question at this stage of the campaign, which is pretty much what Edwards did.

Edwards has spent so much time in Iowa he must have been expecting to win, and the fact he may or may not must be painful. That's no excuse but that's life, folks.

I read his latest comment as saying he will be the nominee so will vote for himself. He is one heckofa Southern gentleman.

You know, Duckman, I think that's what irks me about the last debate and Edwards' and Obama's performances the most, is instead of them telling Russert to fuck off, we won't play your scripted game, we want to actually talk about issues that matter, not issues that can wait - like Social Security - they went along with the stupid-looking "pile on," and to me, that made them a bit less attractive than they were prior. Yeah, challenge forcefully on how (or whether) you'd get out of Iraq, on health care, etc, but dang, don't go along with the silly "gotcha" shit. I kinda miss Howard Dean and Al Sharpton in this primary, because they'd talk about the stuff only Kucinich will talk about now (or Gravel, who was refreshing, but face it, too doddering), and scoff at the haircut crap.

Still, Duckman, that's one of those questions that should immediately elicit an affirmative; will you support the only alternative to a Guiliani administration? I expect anyone and everyone who is really, really worried about the direction our country has taken to not hesitate on the answer to that question. My purity criteria, if you will.

sorry to disappoint you, MaskedVigilante:

“I fully expect to support the Democratic nominee, and I fully expect to be the Democratic nominee,” Edwards said Tuesday.

“I fully expect to support the Democratic nominee, and I fully expect to be the Democratic nominee,” Edwards said Tuesday.

Not to nitpick, but isn't he saying, "I will support the Democratic nominee as long as it's me?" Or am I just reading too much into it? If those were two different sentences, I'd buy it.

I'm sure they've already got their shit in the can, and their splash graphics at the ready. In fact, from what I hear, they're recycling the old shit because they're too lazy to come up with new shit to fling.

Coyote, thank you for using "fling", "shit", "can", and "splash" in one paragraph. 8)

I may eschew my morning bagel based on that alone.
