I think that's about right. It all comes down to electability. They'll vote for Rudy if they think Huckabee can't win.
But if he wins or at least comes in a stong second then let the splintering begin. When that happens the gloves are off and as we've seen these folks no how to go after their target.
You can expect to see a lot more pictures of Rudy in drag, if Huckabee starts gaining.

The corporate media is not 'allowing' itself to be spun. It WANTS TO BE SPUN AND IS DOING THE SPINNING ITSELF ... the corporate media is really just an extension of the Repiglican party.
Posted by blue at November 14, 2007 12:55 PMso far, Rudy=Bush is the only GOPer who beats Hillary in national polls. Until Mitty,Huckster and Hollywood start doing the same, the Right will be with Rudy. They'll have no choice. My guess is that Rudy implodes. The GOP Media will cover for him, but only until his Hillary numbers drop off precipitously. Once/if that happens, he's done. Maybe a couple primary losses will do it also, but in the end, it's who can beat Hillary and right now
that's Rudy=Bush, the others don't come close.
According to this, Rudy's not actually trying to win Iowa.

Posted by merciless at November 14, 2007 01:20 PMThe Huckster needs to film some campaign commercials riding a T-Rex like a bronc at the Creation Museum.
Do we really need another "world is flat" theocracy with a brainwashed Godbot at the helm?
Posted by TIKI AL at November 14, 2007 01:35 PMTIKI, that exhibit is so funny. Bill Maher said something like riding a dinosaur is an idea that he rejected after he STOPPED WATCHING THE FLINSTONES!
Steve, I love this stuff. I think merciless is right, Rudy doesn't care much about Iowa. So while everything's riding on Iowa for the Dems, NH is the big one for the GOP. And Daryl, indeed, let that Christian Warrior vote splinter! They're gonna have to wait until God makes his official endorsement. I wonder when that's scheduled to happen?
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at November 14, 2007 02:02 PMI'd love to see Huckabee win the nomination. Any republican is going to appoint awful judges, so on that score they're all bad. I'm not sure if Huckabee would really push for constitutional bans on abortion and gay marriage or not, but I don't think he'd get very far with it. On everything else, he's way more palatable than any other republican.

I wonder what would happen if Hillary didn't win Iowa or NH. Say Obama wins both. Would republican voters quickly switch over to someone they actually like rather than just voting for the person they think can beat Hillary?
Back in 2000, I was rooting for Bush because I thought he'd be much easier to beat than McCain. After all, who would possibly vote for such a doofus? I tend to think the same about Rudy (who in the right mind would vote for Bush only worse??) but I'll be careful what I wish for this time. I guess I can't underestimate the stupidity of half the electorate.
