Cookie and Buzzy
Today, Waxman, of the House Oversight and Government Reform committee, revealed that State Department Inspector General Howard "Cookie" Krongard's brother, A.B. "Buzzy" Krongard, sits on Blackwater's advisory board. Cookie's outfit, the State Department OIG, is involved in investigating Blackwater. Initially he denied that his brother was on the board, but after calling him, Cookie discovered that Waxman's charge was, in fact, true. E-M-B-A-R-A-S-S-I-N-G. He then said he would recuse himself from all Blackwater matters in his office.
truly no shame with this administration...none..and as far as the catholic church goes..it's primarily an institution of gay men...no judgement..just a fact...out of curiosity ..does phidipidies still post here??
Posted by dennis at November 15, 2007 02:46 AMAs expected, Bush will veto the 50 billion war funding measure with timelines. Will the Democrats negotiate it down to a blank check or relent and send Bush the money anyway if the bill is vetoed? Will the Democrats have the votes to override the veto? If we lack the votes to override Bush's veto, will we relent and give him the 50 billion anyway? Will we play hardball or cave? Inquiring minds want to know.
Boehner called the idea "backward and irresponsible" in light of military progress being made in Iraq. Yep, we are about to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat Boehner.
Dennis Hastert is retiring. Good riddance!

218-203 - Fifteen Democrats broke ranks and joined 188 Republicans in opposing the measure. Four Republicans joined 214 Democrats in supporting it.

Posted by dennis at November 15, 2007 03:33 AMCalifornia Sen. Dianne Feinstein and the state's Democratic Party pushed back Wednesday against a proposal by a coalition of progressives to censure the four-term senator for her recent votes siding with the Bush Administration, dismissing the proposal as a distraction put forth by activists who did not speak for the majority of Democrats in the Golden State.
Allan Hoffenblum, publisher of the California Target Book said Progressives in the party have always criticized Feinstein, but the explosive growth of blogs has made it increasingly difficult for her to ignore her critics.
Today, activists are in constant communication through the blogs and email listservs that form the new media salons of the Democratic Party.
"They are the bullhorn and they are constantly riling up the base," Hoffenblum said, "And when someone goes off base like they believe Feinstein has, they get the word out."

Posted by Judith at November 15, 2007 04:01 AMAmerican bishops warn Catholics that supporting a politician who is not anti-abortion is to be guilty of cooperating with a "grave evil."
Oh great. Now I have to look at those stupid "I'm a One Issue Voter" with a red line through the word ABORTION. So once again, the mindless "one issue" voters will emerge. The Catholic Church should lose their tax free status, if you ask me.
Posted by Judith at November 15, 2007 04:18 AMThe Catholic Church has lost me.

I agree, his unique perspective and voice is truly missed.
The Church is a refuge for pedofiles. My only question is how many centuries has that been the case and how many lives have they ruined?
Posted by T2 at November 15, 2007 06:16 AMWhere is Phid? He hasn't posted in a month.
All in all, I have to say that the "contribution" of most of our varying religious sects to our current political "process" has been a saga of catastrophe---just as the Founders feared. Add in radical fundamentalist Islam and Likudnik expansionist orthodoxy and it's quite a record of regression, anger, hatred and violence.
Humans might want to "rethink" their invention of "religion". Seems like a colossal dead end to me.

Posted by dennis at November 15, 2007 07:25 AMSo, can we expect the the five Catholic Supreme Court Justices to recuse themselves from cases involving abortion rights? Seems like a clear conflict of interest to me.
Get rid of organized religion, solve 90% of the world's problems in an instant. Read Sam Harris.
