The GOP wants whatever will allow them to keep the "threat level" at orange or above.
Fear. The GOP is a one trick pony that manifests that trick like tentacles to every facet of politics.
Posted by Simp at November 15, 2007 01:08 PMReturn on Success. Was that yet another Bush lie?
Posted by T2 at November 15, 2007 01:14 PMSo Iran finally sent a special ops team to Baghdad and eliminated that little old bomb-maker with the "Made in Iran" stamp?
Posted by TIKI AL at November 15, 2007 01:20 PM"...United States military command...knew that Iraqi machine shops had been producing their own EFPs for years, a review of the historical record of evidence on EFPs in Iraq shows.
The record also shows that the US command had considerable evidence that the Mahdi Army of Shi'ite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr had received the technology and the training on how to use it from Hezbollah, rather than Iran."
Explosive charge blows up in US's face

The Mahdi Army's under al-Sadr's orders to cease fire, rest & recuperate.
When they come off the bench, look out. Now's a good time to leave.
right Keepout, the so-called Surge Success is primarily because Sadr called off his troops, not because of our "tactics". These guys aren't dumb and they have CNN too (and TLC), they know Bush's time is coming up soon and can just wait. They fight in decades and centuries over there, not in presidential cycles. Waiting a year for us to leave is nothing to them.
Posted by T22 at November 15, 2007 02:07 PMThe GOP wants to stay forever to stay in office. If we leave Iraq, then we'd have to tend to domestic issues - like healthcare for children, Vets, etc., and BushCo simply can't allow that to happen.
Kids ... who the hell do they think they are anyway wanting to see doctors???
Posted by CitizenBoo at November 15, 2007 02:30 PMSadr knows that Dear Leader will soon be FORCED to withdraw troops because there are NO troops to maintain the Surge (escalation).
Posted by gay veteran at November 15, 2007 03:24 PMCome on! "The Iranians did it" is every bit as bogus as Saddam's WMD's.
Think about it logically.
1. It is mainly Sunnis that are putting down the EID's. Shi`as are causing only very small percentage of troop deaths by any means.
2. Iran has it made. It's boys Maliki and Al Hakim are not only at the head of the make-believe Iraqi government, they were put in place and are being kept in place by the Americans. Why would they want to mess that up?
3. Iran is not about to help the Sunnis. Why would they?
4. The Bush regime has been trying like crazy to create a pretext to attack Iran. The nuclear weapon thing is not selling all that well. They have made a number of provocative moves, and Iran has stayed cool and not risen to the bait. Just about the last card they have to play is "Iran is killing Americans in Iraq".
There is no need to do anything about Iran. Iran has not done anything it is not completely entitled to do. This is a manufactured crisis in order to create a pretext to attack. It is no different than the crisis they manufactured in order to justify attacking Iraq.
Don't buy into it.
Posted by Shirin at November 15, 2007 07:08 PMPS What is all this about Sadr? Sadr is responsible for only a small percentage of the attacks on American troops. Furthermore, Sadr is not the one who is allied with and taking aid from Iran. He is a nationalist, and is opposed to Iranian attempts to control things in Iraq. The ones allied with Iran are the make-believe Iraqi government, specifically the Da`wa party and The Party Formerly Know As SCIRI (whatever it calls itself now), and their militias (aka death squads).
Posted by Shirin at November 15, 2007 07:25 PMdirect talks - of course!! but that's diplomacy which the bushites don't know a damn thing about.
roadside explosiive devices and republikun support for the war. not even the least bit related. it's all about oil. and the democrats are going to stay forever too, especially is that corporate democrat is elected.
