CNN reported that the Kittyhawk Battlegroup was to spend Thanksgiving in Hong Kong.

Some family members even flew there to spend the Holiday with their loved ones. Too bad the Chinese government wouldn't allow them in the harbor to dock.

At the last minute the Chinese did a 180, but it was too late as the battlegroup was already "steaming" away.

Well... THIS episode should help smooth over the lead toy and poison pet food faux pas!

Why isn't there already a ban on lead in toys?

To continue on with Tiki's story... Several, many of the personel in the fleet had their families fly in to meet them and spend Thanksgiving with them, tickets being upwards to $2500.00. Well all that expense, time and effort to not see their sailors. Way to go China and thanks Tiki for bringing it up. Hong Kong wasn't supposed to be this closed.

I think it's notable that another "Coalition of the Billing" member just bit the dust, about 9 hours ago. Conservative (former) Australian Prime Minister and dickhead John Howard is out. Kevin Rudd, of the Labor party, is the new Australian Prime Minister. And Rudd promised to bring home all 500 Australian combat troops from Iraq, although he would leave behind about that same number in support and security forces.

Really, it's just us in Iraq, now. Britain's withdrawing, even though they won't say it outright; the Aussies are withdrawing; the Koreans are withdrawing, not that they ever left their bases; the Poles basically withdrew; Denmark basically withdrew; Spain withdrew; Italy withdrew; the Japanese withdrew; but don't worry, "Coalition" members! Georgia upped its commitment to 2,000 troops! LOL!

If you're the leader of a country, are you going to hitch your fortunes to anything Bush wants to do in his last year in office, given the fate of other leaders who supported Bush and his insane policies? It's going to take decades to undo the damage Bush has wrought to American foreign policy, if it can ever be fixed.

Just saw Battlestar Galactica's mini-movie, Razor.

Not bad, some predictable elements, a few good zingers worth the wait. But there's one plot element that really turned my stomach - and it's not the blood, murder, rape, and other horrors depicted about Pegasus and Galactica 40 years ago. It's one of the motivations of Adm. Cain.

Damn you, idio! I have hours to wait. And I hated Cain before, so this ought to be great. Still, I'm glad the show's back; I should have paced myself getting caught up instead of watching the whole dang thing in a couple weeks.

Hey, Coyote! "Serenity" was on Direct TV last night and I got to see those Republican Reavers eating people alive again!

It won't be long until the GOP campaigns descend into this type of behavior again.

Serenity was a great movie, TIKI! And yes, the Reavers sure do look like the Cheney gang, don't they?

Idio, you were right about Cain. Some folks had sussed it out already, but I was wondering if we'd see what happened to Six. Pretty good depiction of how the US went nuts after a huge attack, eh?
