In matters of State, we don't need freedom OF religion. We need freedom FROM religion.

Posted by at December 6, 2007 11:09 AMWhilst these Republicans are racing to stroke their GOD OFF contest, this Republic burns. Tired of being told to care whose God is bigger.
Meanwhile, back at this particular backyard, I-5 is 10 feet underwater, 54,000 trucks a day re-routed and it could be argued that that is because the Federal matching funds that were approved to shore up dikes and infrastructure never arrived. Nope, this Rep Administration chose not to fund its promises to care for American soil but instead to fund its lies abroad.
Guts? Bravery? Oh dear.
Posted by paradox at December 6, 2007 11:27 AMwatching the GOPers fight over who is the most and best religious is pretty funny. Rudy=Bush doesn't seem to have joined the fray yet..I guess he's Catholic, which, I think, is Christian. McOld seems confused about his bible-totin' and Wrinkles, not wanting to waste too much energy on the matter, just says "I like God". I kinda like his position on that, actually.
Posted by T2 at December 6, 2007 11:32 AMmain: With GOP smaller government would you have smaller floods?
I would like to see a voo doo priest run for the GOP slot and out-religion all of these lightweights. During a debate he could have dolls of his opponents on his podium and stick pins in their eyeballs while the debaters are in mid spin.
Posted by TIKI AL at December 6, 2007 12:05 PMT-I'll think on that.
Fun part is that a Rep State Legislator was the one who got the existing project approved, taxes increased to pay for the state side, then Fed funds approved but funds are floating around in the ether.
I like the voo-doo idea. Do they have good music? In college my class on religion our first test was to define religion. Consensus ended up that it is 'the most important thing in your life' (Gawd we were young). Kinda kicks ass for the Sunday forgivens, eh?
Posted by mainsailset at December 6, 2007 12:42 PMThe original oath avoided religious language. Post-revolutionary paranoia hardened the wording, including adding the words, 'so help me God', thereby introducing an inescapable, unconstitutional religious test for serving in any branch of the government - no?
Posted by Shaphan at December 6, 2007 01:10 PMm-In my real estate class they asked: "What's the most important thing in your life?" ...money,screwing,and beer came in 1,2,3.
Posted by TIKI AL at December 6, 2007 01:10 PMt-pretty much sums it up AND no need to bother with Sunday forgiveness, just keep on agoin with 1,2,3
Posted by mainsailset at December 6, 2007 01:23 PMshaphan-
i believe "so help me god" is not required.
Posted by Turkana at December 6, 2007 01:55 PMthe voo-doo idea is a great one...except since most of the operable voo-doo priests are in the New Orleans area and might be a bit prejudiced against the GOP. I can't help but believe, somewhere deep down on the bayou, there is a tiny doll with a wisp of Bush's hair fixed to it...and a box of pins nearby.
Posted by T2 at December 6, 2007 02:18 PMThanks for the laughs,t and T2.
Yes, Bush, Cheney, Chertoff and Brownie Voo Doo dolls are hot items in the N.O. area.
Pins sold seperately.
