The Most Inappropriate Bush War Smirks of 2007

"Given 2008's inevitably ramped-up analysis of the Bush Legacy by the very serious traditional media, there's one aspect of the president which, staggeringly though not surprisingly, won't be covered. In fact, it's never been covered to my knowledge. The traditional media has never really challenged the president on his grotesquely inappropriate reactions to serious issues especially Iraq."

"His uncomfortably ridiculous smirks and smiles illustrate his inadequacies as a leader: his fugacious attitude; his vacant stature; and, most strikingly, his apparent inability to grasp the reality of his decisions. It's all right there on the screen, underlined by those tiny baby teeth."

As one poster reminded us, Bush found a smirk when asked about the executions he over saw as Govenor and he joked about sending one of them, a woman, to her death. Or remember how funny he thought it was to look under the Oval Office furniture for WMD. That one I will never forget.

We at TLC have written about that stupid smirk for years now. I have always seen it as a condescending smirk, as if to say I'm so clever and your so stooopid. Let me tell you another lie. Sociopaths have that same smirk.

Dennis, I wouldn't be unhappy about an Edwards win, but at this point I wouldn't make any bets.

nothing that fraud in the white house does surprises me...the man is an empty suit who has failed at everyting he ever did his entire life...and his defining moment was 9/11...and all you need to know about gw is in his face as he read my pet goat to the children...his moment of truth was in that moment..he blinked big time..the man was installed as president..not elected..thats a fact

Dennis, when one looks back to the beginning of George Walker Bush's career and rise in the Presidency, it is obvious that "installed" is the correct word.

The 17th president, Andrew Johnson was born today in 1808, in Raleigh, North Carolina. His father died when he was young, he never went to school but worked as a tailor's apprentice from age 10 to 17. His wife educated him.

From the White House webb site:
"With the Assassination of Lincoln, the Presidency fell upon an old-fashioned southern Jacksonian Democrat of pronounced states' rights views. Although an honest and honorable man, Andrew Johnson was one of the most unfortunate of Presidents. Arrayed against him were the Radical Republicans in Congress, brilliantly led and ruthless in their tactics. Johnson was no match for them."

Yes, folks, we have a long tradition of "radical republicans in congress", and the current crop is no exception. They came within 1 vote of impeaching Johnson back then. Bill Clinton should have seen it coming.

Judith, Home Depot and the Supreme Court will install just about anything.

That was me above on the birthday boy, Andrew Johnson. Microsoft gave my computer an enema yesterday.

(laughing) TIKI AL, how right you are. I have new kitchen cabinets, thanks to Home Depot. The only problem I had was with "Miss Eye Candy," a former Hooters, installed to keep the boys happy at Home Depot. Dumber than a piece of wood.

"Radical Republican." Yep, Bush sure dropped that "compassionate conservative" bullcr*p rather quickly.

dennis - I wouldn't at all be saddened by an Edwards victory next Thursday, but I can't see it happening. I'm very, very sorry.

Anon - that was such a steaming pile of crap. Johnson was in no way, "an honest and honorable man," or no match for the , "the Radical Republicans in Congress, brilliantly led and ruthless".

All of the politicians in the post-Lincoln Civil War period were conniving, craven, and personally partisan jackasses.

Carpetbaggers! Their relatives are in Iraq carrying on the family tradition.
