Kos is a fraud and has been for some time. I stopped reading his stuff since '04 but I guess the truth never stops him from acting like a real fraud.
It is real sad to see what happening to the lefty blogs. Real sad. I used to support and donate few bucks when I can but no more. I rather spend my hard earned money on fine wines or my dog than supporting these astrocious animals called progressive blogs.
Posted by john at January 9, 2008 09:20 AMLOL! The very definition of oxymoron: "People like Hillary. They don't like the cautious, calculating politician, they like the genuine human being." LOL!
Posted by Brian Bell at January 9, 2008 09:20 AMjust don't vote for her if you are really expecting anything more than a rehash of the Bill years. I'd be fine with that, myself. One month from now we'll pretty much know where we are headed. I just wonder where Thompson and Rudy go from here. Badly trounced in both Iowa and NH is an understatement. And I'm going to have to be convinced that McOld can make a serious move by running on the "I'm less crazy than the others" platform.
Posted by T2 at January 9, 2008 09:22 AMJohn, what do you mean by "fraud?" I got my disagreements on some issues with almost all political blogs. If I didn't then it would probably indicate brainwashing. So, what are you talking about? What is fraudulent about the leftie blogs? Because I don't see any evidence of fraud, not in the least.
Posted by Brian Bell at January 9, 2008 09:24 AMBrian Bell is more obsessed with Hillary than Tweety. Why don't you start your own blog, Brian? Instead of hanging around here taking a dump on anything positive that is said about her.
It's creepy.
I rather spend my hard earned money on fine wines or my dog than supporting these astrocious animals called progressive blogs.
And yet, here you are, huh? I guess you just can't quit us.
Posted by iamcoyote at January 9, 2008 09:37 AMHillary won by being Hillary.
True but I think what also helped was the last debate. If you tag team another candidate as Obama and Edwards were doing and by the end of the debate that candidate is still standing and throwing good punches, you've got trouble.
They wanted to fight and she gave them it to them. Regardless of gender America likes a fighter and they saw one in New Hampshire.
Still along way to go.
Posted by Daryl at January 9, 2008 09:48 AMOK, can someone explain to me the nickname "Tweety"--I've been wondering for a long time.
The thing I liked about Hillary in the last debate was her "that hurts my feelings" comment--that showed her human side and her sense of humor.
IF she won because she cried and was beaten up on and women came to her rescue, that's not good enough. I don't think women should vote for her because she's a woman, or to go against the media or whatever. Vote for her because you think she'll be a good president. But I think if she can continue to show her sense of humor more, more people will take another look at her. I like that she's wonkish and knows her stuff, but I like her more now that I've seen more of her personality.
Posted by CG at January 9, 2008 09:55 AMcq,
it's because he looks like tweetybird.
Posted by Turkana at January 9, 2008 10:07 AMReally? Hmmm. OK, thanks.
Posted by CG at January 9, 2008 10:14 AMcg,
please explain the difference between your mature evaulation of Clinton based on seeing her sense of humor and the immature and incorrect attitudes of hypothetical voters voting for her "just because she's a woman.?" They are both incredibly shallow approaches except that each practitioner thinks that the trait (humor/femaleness) points to some deeper indicators of future performance. George Bush has a great sense of humor, I hear, but I wouldn't vote for him. I would vote for hillary partly on the basis of her sex because I think the kind of life she has lived as a woman: lawyer, mother, presidential spouse, political activist, senator are all pretty unique on our political scene and pretty representative of qualities that I admire in a leader. I wouldn't vote for a republican woman over a democratic male because my belief is that party trumps sex every time, as it does race. But that's my belief founded on my observations, its no more silly than "I found her funny so I'll take a second look at her policies."

Posted by aimai at January 9, 2008 10:16 AMA little off topic, but I haven't heard anyone talk about how the background music before Obama spoke was "signed, sealed, delivered" which would have been arrogant if he had won, but was just a screw-up when he didn't. Has it been mentioned in the media? If Hillary had won both Iowa and NH and played that music, they would have been all over her for being arrogant and assuming inevitability.
Posted by CG at January 9, 2008 10:17 AMAimai, I only said that seeing her sense of humor made me like her more--I already liked her for her intelligence, grasp of the issues, work ethic, etc. I also said that if she shows her sense of humor more, people might take another look at her--not that people should vote for her because she's funny or whatever. Just that some people who have a knee-jerk negative reaction to her because she's supposedly cold and shrill, might see a warmer side and decide to actually listen to what she says and decide on that basis whether they vote for her. You're saying you're taking the fact that she's female into account--how that's affected her life, etc. That's reasonable. I'm just saying that someone shouldn't vote for her solely because it's time for a female president, and she needs (and does have) more demographics than just women or older women.
Posted by CG at January 9, 2008 10:23 AMcg,
i saw someone mention the music, but i don't recall who. it was pretty embarrassing, and definitely a bad choice even had he won.
Posted by Turkana at January 9, 2008 10:26 AMCG - specifically this Tweety. Wish I had a better pic, but I think it's about the similarities in hairstyles.
Posted by iamcoyote at January 9, 2008 10:39 AMXjr, I've been hanging around this blog for far longer than Hillary's been running, and I am a Dem. I didn't think we had to agree that Hillary is the greatest Dem since FDR to participate here. I'm sure I'm welcome, seeing as Bagless and Toby and others are as well, and I'm not even a troll. I don't like Hillary, I do like the Dems. I thought that was enough.
Posted by Brian Bell at January 9, 2008 11:08 AMIamcoyote--wow, I'd never seen that tweety! Where did that come from? There is a resemblance there.
Posted by CG at January 9, 2008 11:25 AMI find it strange that the authors of this blog can't say anything negative about Hillary and anything nice about Obama.
What kills your arguments for me is the unwillingness to deal with the irrefutable dirtiness of the Clinton campaign, not only over the last few days, but also over the last many weeks. You accuse others of being blind to their candidate's faults, but then you are exactly the same way! You may be happy to "win," but what of the way she won? Shall I rehash all the slime coming directly from the Clinton campaign...?
patrick,
perhaps you missed when i wrote that hillary needed to dump billy shaheen, and that hs apology probably wasn't enough. she did the right thing. obama didn't, with mcclurkin. when obama shows some leadership on something, i'll praise him.
Posted by Turkana at January 9, 2008 11:54 AMCG - I remember that Tweety from Saturday morning cartoons. I think it was only one or two episodes where he made an appearance. And yes, the resemblance is uncanny!
I find it strange that the authors of this blog can't say anything negative about Hillary and anything nice about Obama.
Prolly 'cos we're bitter, bitter people. More likely, though, you're only seeing what you want to see, which seems to be one of the defining characteristics of the rabid Obamabots.
Posted by iamcoyote at January 9, 2008 12:25 PMBitter bee-otch!
Posted by snark at January 9, 2008 12:30 PMJust for the record: I am bailing on participating here any long, in large measure because of iamcoyote. Dag, girlfriend, how annoying can one person be? Apparently, pretty annoying. Don;t you have another life other than to be the cop for Hillary, the apologist for all things female and Clinton?
I've raised a number of substantive points on this blog, but iamcoyote always comes back with some lame personal jab.
Maybe you'll get your wish and this blog will just be populated by people like yourself reinforcing what you are already going to believe anyway. Sounds great...
Posted by Patrick at January 9, 2008 01:05 PMNow I'm gonna cry.
Posted by snark at January 9, 2008 01:08 PMWho says "girlfriend" anymore, really?
There, there, snark. We'll get you a new toy, I promise!
Posted by iamcoyote at January 9, 2008 01:32 PMI still like you coyote.
I remember tweety too, but not that tweety--I remember the roundish one. I tried to post a link but it said I was posting questionable content.
Posted by CG at January 9, 2008 01:40 PMCG, I get that same error every once in a while, don't know what it's about. I know a lot of the times, you can't comment with more than one link in your post. Maybe you have to be a registered user or something.
As for Patrick, I'm beginning to wonder...he said he was a professor of women's history or some such, and here he's pissed at me for defending women's rights. Does that strike anyone else as pretty odd? Being pissed at a woman for pointing out sexist language. Either he's not really a professor of women's history or he's not a very good teacher of women's history. Really, would you want someone who doesn't recognize sexist language and misogyny when he sees it teaching your kid about women's history?
Posted by iamcoyote at January 9, 2008 02:01 PMiamcoyote:
Funny. There you go again with the personal attack, proving the point of my last post! Very Clinton-esque. Misrepresent my sentiments. Nice. Bill would be proud and Hillary might even shed a tear or two for you.
If you weren't such a hack, I might give a darn what you think... I have fought in the women's movement for 20+ years. Would you like to sign up for my Women's Movement class this semester?
I was just surfing and came across your blog recently. Thought I'd participate. Tried to have some real discourse, but iamcoyote always just defensively attacks, attacks, attacks. What is the point, other than to be Hillary's mindless cop?
peace
God be with you.
Posted by snark at January 9, 2008 02:27 PMOh, hey, iamcoyote. I pressed your name and went to your blog. Not much traffic, huh. Gee, I wonder why?
Posted by Patrick at January 9, 2008 02:29 PMObsess much?
Posted by snark at January 9, 2008 02:41 PMGee, I wonder why?
You mean Zen Cabin? My pal Rip doesn't get to post much. What do you have against Ripley, anyhow?
Posted by iamcoyote at January 9, 2008 02:42 PMSnark:
I am obsessed with Hillary Clinton. I can't get enough of her. She's such an amazing political leader. One of the "greats" of our time. She's like LBJ, but without the L, B, or J!
Coyote:
Am I a sexist, misogynyst because I am criticizing you?
Posted by Patrick at January 9, 2008 02:59 PMI remember watching that episode of Jekyl and Hyde Tweety. An accurate depiction of Chrissy boy when he was explaining why the pundits were not wrong on the NH results on MSNBC this morning...
"Garbage in, garbage out. The Tonto factor. Me thinks white man speaks with forked tongue."
So NH voters are chickenshit racists who "said they would vote for an African-American on the phone, and then, when they pulled that cloth over them in the booth, they didn't."
The yellow feathered egghead went on to explain that the white folk in Iowa couldn't do it because they were in full view in caucus rooms.
I said white people would tell white lies to pollsters months ago, but didn't Obama get within 1% of his poll of polls prediction, and the problem was with Hillary getting way more then her prediction at the last minute?
Maybe due to Tweety's Hillary bashing marathon.
Posted by TIKI AL at January 9, 2008 03:01 PMFor those wondering, "that" Tweety was from the Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde episode. That was the Hyde Tweety.
Turkana, I agree with you. Those who know Hillary have always said that she is a warm, wonderful person, and a passionate activist at heart. Many of her long time supporters were emailing the campaign itself and screaming at them to tell the handlers to get their paws off and let Hillary be Hillary.
This "new" Hillary is not a calculated new persona. This is who she IS, and always has been, when she lets the guard down.
I understand why she would have that guard up. Heck, if I had been abused by the press for as long as she, I'd be guarded as well. But I for one am very glad to see her opening up.
And by the way - given how badly she has been knifed over the years, I think that openness takes incredible courage on her part.
Hyde Tweety! That's right! Thanks, guys. TIKI, apparently Zogby says that he had projections showing Hillary's new numbers, he just couldn't put it out there because the sample was too small or something like that. Talking Points Memo had a blurb earlier.
WMCB - I agree about her having to be closed off because of the long term craziness aimed her way. Every feminist blog I've been to was livid at the coverage, even those not in her camp. And when you have Kos and Drum and others saying enuff is enuff, it's pretty damn bad. I rarely watch Tweety just because he's a drooling idiot, but I had to turn on the tv to get up to the minute totals, and man, he's a freak! He was trying to get the other people to agree with his antics and they just looked uncomfortable and tried to tone things down. How does that guy still have a job, and why isn't Rachel Maddow taking his place right now??
Posted by iamcoyote at January 9, 2008 03:21 PMIs it disturbing that so many of we progressive blog addicts appear to be so well-versed in cartoon lore? Just askin' ;-)
Posted by WMCB at January 9, 2008 04:02 PMActually, when John Cole, former republican and still no fan of Hillary gets upset at all the misogyny, then you really know things are out of hand. http://www.balloon-juice.com/?p=9434
Posted by Rick Taylor at January 9, 2008 04:26 PMIs it disturbing that so many of we progressive blog addicts appear to be so well-versed in cartoon lore?
It's not a bug, it's a feature.
Posted by iamcoyote at January 9, 2008 05:04 PM"Is it disturbing that so many of we progressive blog addicts appear to be so well-versed in cartoon lore?"
Just shows how well rounded the progressive blogs are. (giggle)
Posted by Judith at January 9, 2008 08:26 PMKos is a gasbag...Hasn't anyone noticed or commented on the fact that he stated he is now voting for Obam a because although he likes Hillary, he doesn't like her advisers. Please...how insulting to one's intelligence is that? We must not agree that he is suddenly being so charitable to women just because he is following the conventional wisdom and "speaking up." It was politically correct to do so. Meanwhile, he endorses the stupidity of voting for advisers and not candidates. He tells us facts and positions and track record are not important. He should not be praised for trying to keep a little credibility for self interest...he was following the crowd not leading it.
Matthews should be renamed Father Coughlin. I heard someone else mention it and the more I read about him, the more closely he matched Matthews. Now I realize this is a person from a long long time ago and since many people don't remember the 90s how will they remember the 30s and 40s. The reason to do it is because Matthews does know who he is, he was Irish...and it will irritate the hell out of Matthews. He'll know exactly what it means and he won't like it at all.
And how about bloggers comment on the Obama race
baiting language in reverse...trying to allege that the Clintons or their supporters are racist. This is harmful to the Democratic Party. Similarly, trying to suppress criticism of their candidate by always yelling some race theme or another says more about them than anyone else. How about it if a few people get downright angry.
Finally, check out Pat Buchanan's terrific defense of Clinton on Hardball. Pat is one smart guy. Wish he was on our side. But when Chrissy boy is calling him "Alan Alda" something is up. But dear Buchanan is too smart to be doing it just to be charitable. He explained it quite clearly. His sister and mother were so mad they were thinking of voting for Hillary. That's it in a nutshell...and he has talked about it before...He thinks if Hillary is the nominee the Republicans will bleed women. He's on to something ...and that's why the gender issue is being suppressed on the MSM. They don't want Hillary as the nominee because they know Republican women might go heavily with her. Anyway, check out Buchanan's spirited defense.
Posted by lily15 at January 9, 2008 10:10 PMAs for Kos, I don't trust him now further than I would throw a cat. He allowed that toxic environment to develop, egged it on, and ignored or actively mocked those who complained. It suited his purposes to do so.
Now his blog is being overrun with the monster he fed and suckled, and I've seen diaries with BURN WITCH BURN after Iowa, complete with pic of half naked woman tied to the stake. And now he has decided to make some half-assed effort to rein it in just enough to placate.
Once this primary is over, I think his numbers are going to crash worse than he thinks. A lot of women and thoughtful men have been very hurt over this.
