Is it true that running the debates and campaign commercials on a loop has replaced waterboarding at Gitmo?
If so, even Al Caeda grandmothers will be ratted out.
Posted by TIKI AL at January 14, 2008 03:13 AMAmen Mary!
Once the silly season FINALLY ends, perhaps the trollish spirits that have possessed ordinarily sane and sometimes reasonable exponents of THEIR particular savior will End Times their ugly butts up into the sky, not missed in the least. And we can all blink and breathe for the first time in months and see that the last (Democratic) candidate standing IS human after all.
Can't we all just be Democrats, in time for the General Election? Looking to support any of the Republics or even obi-wan Mikebloomberg would consign our children's children to be faceless servants to their betters a la the gilded Age. Those that stay healthy on their own and can survive a burning planet, at least.
Posted by DeminNewJ at January 14, 2008 03:27 AMDurbin is accusing Clinton of swiftboating Obama on is Iraq war record? Give me a break. Pointing out someone's record is not swiftboating them. I'm sick of every "attack" being seen as racism, sexism, or a page out of the gop playbook. The Obama and Clinton campaigns and their supporters need to settle down.
Posted by CG at January 14, 2008 04:43 AMI just have to say that I really don't have a problem with Clinton's vote for the AUMF. To me, it was backing up actions (inspectors) with the threat of force--a threat that was needed. It wasn't an empty threat, but it wasn't meant for Bush to keep changing the rules (no matter how cooperative Iraq was, it wasn't enough) and invade. I also have no problem with Obama's anti-war stance and subsequent votes for funding. Maybe he hasn't done enough to try to end the war--I don't know. But I understand that being against a war doesn't mean you cut funding right away. I understand the point Clinton is trying to make, but I think she's beaten it to death and needs to move on to something else.
Posted by CG at January 14, 2008 04:49 AMYes, I am tired of it. However, I would not be near as tired if it wasn't for the same bullcrap, mud slinging, and dirty tricks. I'm not talking about the GOP either.
Posted by Judith at January 14, 2008 06:01 AMI'll vote for whichever of the Dems get the nom.
But I have no problem with Clinton beating Obama over the head about his record on the war. He loves to claim that he never supported it and that he would not have voted for the AUMF. But he wasn't in office then. He didn't have to make the choice Clinton had to make. So what does that leave Clinton to do to counter him? She talks about the fact that he hasn't really done much to try and stop the war SINCE ACTUALLY BEING IN A POSITION TO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Come on folks. This is supposedly the "big issue". Right? Do you expect her to just cede it to Obama? At least it's a major issue they're airing.
Posted by snark at January 14, 2008 06:12 AMDitto Mary....it's just aweful....turns off politically aware and active people such as myself. I am dreading the general election too...when we'll have not only the predictable GOP who have perfected the art of mudslinging and swiftboating to deal with, but the Kewl kid coporate media piling on......Yeeaaarrrrrrggggghh!
Posted by emal at January 14, 2008 06:13 AMStop yelling emal. It's obvious you're angry and crazy! Maureen Dowdy tells me so.
Posted by DeminNewJ at January 14, 2008 06:51 AMI guess TLC is pretty much turning into a Clinton/Obama website, but I'm still interested in who either one of them will try to beat in the General. Now, it looks like the possible Agent of Change for the GOP may well be McOld, who stands for continued Iraq War, continued fiscal suicide, and flip-flops around on virtually every issue imaginable. Given up as toast x 10 months ago by yours truly, the rise of McOld only cements the absolute darth of viable GOP candidates. One thing Bush has done in sucking all the air out of the Republican Party and especially the true Conservative wing of it is to leave the party with no national leader (as no leader was allowed to emerge lest he compete with His Royal Highness). Thus they appear stuck with McOld. Better than being stuck with mob-connected Rudy or Jesus Freak Huckleberry, but for the country, no person is more likely to continue straight down the ruinous Bush path than McOld...a senator who's lusted after the presidency for a long, long time and is willing to say/do anything to get it. Gee, that last line could describe Hillary too.
Posted by T2 at January 14, 2008 07:47 AMI think somebody who is going to be a guest of Timmeh's show ought to show up with their own collection of "gotcha" clips from the Libby trial. Have clips of Timmeh's testimony and from the witness who pointed out how Timmeh was the goto guy for the VP's evil schemes.
You need to put out some spin? Hell, just go on over to Punkin Head's show and he'll ask which way to spin it and how hard? Or his corporate bosses will hand him his ass and replace him with somebody will will comply.
