Comments: This Week With Hillary, More Questions For Obama

Here's a scene I'd like to see in the next debate:

CLINTON: You know Barack, you said that your relationship with that slum lord Rezko only involved a few hours of work for him at a law firm, but there is a trail of contributions, hiring favors and real estate associations betweeen you and him, how do you explain that?

OBAMA: Hillary, this guy has been a contributor, I agree. But I'm wondering, do you really really think that we should be judged on the qualities and characteristics of each and every one of our contributors?

CLINTON: ...silence

Posted by GreenVTster at January 25, 2008 10:12 AM

Hillary's contributors and legal background has been well researched and documented the past 28 years (Rose Law Firm, First Lady of Arkansas, First Lady, US Senator).....

However, the American public really does not know Obama's work history / connections (or that of his Harvard Lawyer spouse)....

If you want the highest political office in the land, be prepared to answer questions about your background...the good, the bad...and the ugly...

Hillary's been tested....Obama needs to deal with the "cage rattling" / vetting he's experiencing.....

Jeff, here's the LA Times story I was talking about. Apparently, Obama voted for something that involved Rezko, and when he got busted for it, he told reporters he "accidently" hit the wrong button while voting. So, Rezko won and Obama talked his way out of it. Apparently, he's done the same thing several times.

Posted by iamcoyote at January 25, 2008 10:50 AM

Jeff, I agree this Rezko thing might have legs. CNN did a big segment on it just now. While Rezko is being investigated, shortly after becoming US Senator, Obama buys a house for 300,000 dollars under market the same day Mrs. Rezko buys the place next door for full price?

In the words of the famous forensics scientist, Dr. Henry Lee, "Sumting Wong".

my disgust with the Clinton campaign for their attacks on Obama leads me to wonder when someone will pull out the blue dress and Monica. I am positively prayerful it doesn't happen after she is our candidate. Bill Clinton forgot it was the progressive democrats that rushed into defend him during the impeachment? He tahnks us by taking a shot at dividing democrats in this stupid argument over his wife? Doesn't any one wonder why the Rebublicans are being so silent about Monicagate/am I the only one?

Posted by rm forsyth at January 25, 2008 11:26 AM

Are the voting buttons in the Illinois Senate similar to the buttons on the Nuclear Football?

Posted by TIKI AL at January 25, 2008 11:33 AM

He tahnks us by taking a shot at dividing democrats in this stupid argument over his wife?

Argument over his wife? Ohhhh. You mean Senator Hillary Clinton, frontrunning candidate for the Democratic nomination for the presidency? That wife? Perhaps she should just get back into her place and be the Big Dog's little woman like she's supposed too?

Doesn't any one wonder why the Rebublicans are being so silent about Monicagate/am I the only one?

No and probably.

Posted by snark at January 25, 2008 11:37 AM

TIKI, yeah, that's my question, too.

Posted by iamcoyote at January 25, 2008 11:41 AM

I'm sure Bill learned his lesson about "playing around" with Monicagate. I'm sure there are no naughty rumors for GOP dirty tricksters to dig up... and even if there were, no respectable GOP candidate would use them against Hillary in the general, right?

Posted by T2 at January 25, 2008 12:02 PM

Romney would use them, McCain would not. I think an election between McCain and Clinton would really be about issues more than anything else. There are some very substantive differences. I believe Clinton and McCain have worked closely together in the past and have traveled to Iraq together...there is a real respect there. That's not to say things won't ever get ugly, but you can bet Hillary will not be swiftboating John, and I don't think he will do that to her either...maybe I am being naive. On the other hand, there will be SIGNIFICANT and HOT debates about policy, and Hillary can wipe McCain on those...she knows her policy like nobody else.

rm forsyth:

Well said. I did not expect a smart politician like Bill Clinton would not see what you see. Hillary may win the nomination but she will lose the support of Obama voters and ultimately we will see another Republican in the Whitehouse. If that happens, we know who is to blame. However that does not help. We will have to endure 4 more years of the Bush policies.

This blog's loyalty to Hillary in spite of what Hillary and Bill are doing in fracturing the party is pathetic. Blogs like this should put pressure on candidates if their actions cause even slight possibility that Democrats could lose the election.

For those of you wishing for Saint Al to take this 2008 contest away. His people don't want to tarnish his good name with either one of the two front runners. Don't look for much from him.

You better keep telling yourself that peter!

Most Americans have already made up their minds about whether they believe the plethora of dirt unearthed from Hillary's past or whether it is all made up by the "vast right wing conspiracy."

She is incredibly divisive as a candidate and will have many independents staying home or writing in Ron Paul come the general election.

She is the choice of the Democratic power brokers and corporate lobbyists (not to mention AIPAC). I could vote for Edwards....I could vote for Obama....but I could never vote for Clinton.

Sorry.....

Of course, vote counting has gotten so opaque that I really don't think it matters how many votes are cast for any candidate. Diebold and ES&S memory card programmers will likely determine the outcome.

snark you prove my point with your emm snarky answer to my post regarding bill & Hillary Clinton dividing the Progressive Liberals.
First if I say I have been a progressive all my life what kind of idiot would think I was atacking Hillary for being a professional. You are blinded by Clinton love. Its like the Republicans, Party over country. You not only missed my point you ignored my fears. Hillary and Bill divide not only the Democratic Party but the country. Yeah Snark lets all start talking about Monica gate and cigars won't that help our Party take back the Whitehouse. Its not all about the Clintons or is it for you????
By the way, what say you about the Progressives defending Clinton as the President when he was Impeached, don't you think he should start acting like one now???? I'm beginning to think he was always an immature egotist. I sent a check to Obama and Edwards after his behavior in the last weeks, and no your wrong many Democrats feel the same way or don't you read????

Posted by rm forsyth at January 25, 2008 03:37 PM

Party over country?

Clinton love?

Your irrational hatred of the Clintons has blinded you to the fact that Hillary Clinton will likely govern in a more progressive manner than will Barack Obama.

If the supposed progressive Democrats would agree to unite behind either Clinton, Obama or Edwards there would be no division. If Hillary Clinton garners the support of the majority of Democrats in the country will you support her? Or will you continue to divide the party and hand the Whitehouse to the Republicans simply because you don't like her?

Barack Obama is no more a Progressive than is Clinton.

Posted by snark at January 25, 2008 05:41 PM

Supposed Progressives?
If Hillary divides the Democratic Party?
Still ignoring Bill Clintons behavior toward the Party that defended him during the impeachment???

Monicagate no comment yet??

Snark you are either a Karl Rove mole or Hillary & Bills Communication Director, totally tone deaf!

Posted by rm forsyth at January 25, 2008 08:24 PM

Monica Lewinsky will have nothing to do with the General Election.

And you ignore two facts;

Clinton is just as progressive as Obama.

And she may very well garner more support from her party nationally than Obama.

If she does, will you unite behind her or will you assist in letting the Republicans have the White House?

Posted by snark at January 26, 2008 04:51 AM

"Monica Lewinsky will have nothing to do with the General Election"

The Gospel according to Snark. So it is written so it shall be

LOL
PS Republican are being soooo quite about this subject you must be emmmm correct.

I am completely satisfied with Obama explanation. Why digg into such non-news? If you have any question, you should contact his campaign. In my opinion, Obama was kinda stupid to continue his friendship with Rezko after he went into trouble with the law. He should have avoided Razko like a cancer as soon as his name was on the paper. Obama's sin was his naivety.

Unfortunately, Clinton may win Feb 5. There is no way Obama can catch up with all 21 states. But here's something to see. Even in wrong doing, Clintons are bigger than Obama.
