Anyone who is Captain of a plywood PT Boat which is rammed by a Japanese Destroyer, swims to shore and survives to sleep with Marilyn Monroe while ignoring terrible back pain has my lasting admiration.
Posted by TIKI AL at January 28, 2008 09:53 AMI had the honor of meeting Robert about a hundred years ago, in Washington...he was chatting with Teddy in the dining room of the capital...he was the nicest man, however, I didnt like Teddy as he had this kind of dismissive attitude toward we peons....Robert was gracious and I am so glad I had that experience....I was barely out of my teens at the time LOL.....at the time my uncle was a congressman and I was with him....
Posted by athyrio at January 28, 2008 10:42 AMI had the honor of looking JFK right in the eye as he rode past in his Lincoln convertible on 27th street in Milwaukee. And my uncle wasn't a congressman!
athyrio: If you were 21 at the time and attended the Teddy private after dinner party, his attitude toward you may have improved.
JFK had nightmares of sunken PT Boats.
Teddy still has nightmares of sunken Oldsmobiles.

Mary Jo Kopechne is unable to comment.
It is truly unfortunate that JFK would not be welcome in today's Democratic party. (Think Zell Miller and Joe Lieberman.)

Damn, if he would have had her whacked he could have been president! You know, like what happened to Margie Schoedinger. Except her husband was also sexualized by the perp. Interesting, huh? Wonder what he did to the husband?
Posted by phidipides at January 28, 2008 06:47 PMphidipides,
I have not heard from you in a long time! Glad to know that you are still as dumb as a bag of hammers!
Margie Schoedinger. Never heard of the woman. But I did read the article that you so kindly linked to. Thanks.
But, I did not read anything in the article about George Bush being at the scene of the shooting...and then waiting hours to report the shooting....and then making up a story about having tried to save the woman...and...well, I do think that even you -- if you try real hard -- can figure out the rest of this (somewhat fragmented) sentence.
And, may I add, watching the Democrats tear themselves apart in this primary season is very entertaining: identity politics seems to only work when two of the favored identities are not simultaneously running for the nomination.
As I have posted before, Hillary will be the nominee. However, what she has to do to secure the nomination will guarantee she will lose in the general election: it will be the end of the "progressive" Democratic party. (You flks will have to find some other party to be loyal to: may I suggest the Communist Party.)
So much fun!
