Well folks, guess who is joining faux FOX? Seems Karl has found a new venue for his hate and lies.
Posted by Judith at February 1, 2008 04:48 AMOh, Judith, that is so perfect. So completely insane.
I'm looking out my window and thinking the Dinellis may be snowed in. It's hard to tell how much we got because we have maybe a 15-20mph wind blowing it all over. I'm not sure how I'm going to clear it off of my driveway. Need to get on the radio, check the school closings. The kids would be STOKED. If they don't have to go, I may just close the office.
Did I tell anyone here that my Hillary for President sign was stolen out of my front yard this week? Whuz up wit DAT? It's brutal around here, I'll bet Obama wins Illinois 2-1 Tuesday.
Good new show on TV: HBO's "In Treatment."
Well, I'll be around, gotta check if we got a SNOW DAY!
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at February 1, 2008 05:09 AMThere were Hillary Clinton supporters handing out campaign stuff for her today on the train platform here in NY. First time for her. The Obama people have been here all week.
Posted by snark at February 1, 2008 06:04 AMJeff, perfect is the word for it. I'm sure he will bring such perfect insight and fair and balanced commentaries.
Woke up too 8" of snow here also in St. Louis. Good day to build a fire, if I only had a fireplace.
Posted by Judith at February 1, 2008 06:13 AMJudith, come on over, we have a fireplace! It's only a 3 hour drive or so.
SNOW DAY!! Still coming down at an inch an hour. My son and I just served Mommy and my daughter breakfast in bed. Waffles, OJ and coffee. Mommy's work is closed, my work will not open on time but maybe later I'll have to go in. If I don't have a heartattack shoveling the snow.
One problem. My Tribune didn't arrive. I'm pretty much helpless without my morning newspaper, so may have to load up the dogsled and go to the convenience store. Our town only has two snowplows after we lost almost all of ours in a fire last year. We borrow plows. My co-worker's street is being cleared with Bobcats. Gotta love small town life. Cue John Mellencamp.
No, please don't.
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at February 1, 2008 06:22 AMJeff, Haven't you heard of online newspapers?
Posted by Seven of Six at February 1, 2008 06:25 AMSos, it's just not the same. Of course I get most of my news online, Smart-Guy, but there's something about unfolding a paper, the smell, getting the ink on your fingers, I love the whole experience, ever since I was a child. Old-school. Plus it's much easier to find exactly what you're looking for. Op-ed, section one, Doonesbury, features (scanning for my girlfriend Jessica Reaves), sports tv listings just in case there may be something interesting on tonight...I have an order and method. If I lie on the floor and read it the cats will instinctively come over and walk over it and lie down on top of it. Show the kids cool pics or let them read the stuff they want to.
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at February 1, 2008 06:33 AMJohn Amato provided a video and transcript of Keith Olbermann's stirring "Special Comment" last night on FISA and the telecoms. I had goosebumps last night watching it.
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at February 1, 2008 06:47 AMThat town hall meeting held in 21 of the 22 voting states on Super Tuesday that Hillary's staging Monday night? You won't have to go to her website to watch it. She bought a full hour of time on the Hallmark Channel, whatever that is. I'm gonna check if it's on my dish.
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at February 1, 2008 06:52 AM"Judith, come on over, we have a fireplace! It's only a 3 hour drive or so.
I'll be there in three hours. Put the coffee on.
Posted by Judith at February 1, 2008 07:14 AMFor you Clinton fans, she'll be on Fox Sunday at 8AM along with McCain. Seems she's not afraid of Fox, like many of y'all. That's an hour earlier than the normal time...super Sunday.
Hi Jeff, how's the global warming in Chicago? Mike and Mike have been complaining all week about Seven's hometown temps. It's just too cold in Scottsdale. Foot of snow in Amman, Jordan! I know Tony Romo woke up to freezing temps too.
Posted by peter at February 1, 2008 07:24 AMJeff, thanks for the Olbermann speech site. Bravo to Olbermann for hitting it out of the park, as usual.
Posted by Judith at February 1, 2008 07:31 AMNo prob, Judith. And the coffee's been on. The kids wanna have a Tom Waits listening session, hope you're down with dat.
Right now we're gonna try to find the driveway.
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at February 1, 2008 07:58 AMPeter, Thanks for posting! You show how clueless you are every time you post. Keep it up!
Posted by goose1 at February 1, 2008 08:12 AMdelving a little further into the potential of a Hillary/McOld contest (could start Sunday on Fux), since McOld seems intent on running on our Great Victory in Iraq, what's gonna happen when 1) November comes around and there are still 150K US troops there that 65% of America doesn't want there?, and 2) what's he gonna say about the great Surge Success when alSadr puts his troops back in action? The actual real question I'm getting to is: Will Hillary make it Issue #1 against McOld, or is her War baggage too heavy for her to go there?
Posted by T2 at February 1, 2008 08:19 AMI don't see why she can't use the war against McCain; he's calling for 100 years of war, making it very easy to attack him. No one wants that. And really, as much as the lefty bloggers obsess over the AUMF, the public really has no clue what that means and why it's significant. He can try the flip flopping thing, but that's so 2004. Especially since the public also flip flopped on it. They'll identify with changing their minds once they saw the damage.
Posted by iamcoyote at February 1, 2008 08:59 AMMcCain was for withdrawal when Clinton was President, she just need to point that out.
Posted by goose1 at February 1, 2008 09:04 AMBAGHDAD (Feb. 1) -- Remote-controlled explosives strapped to two mentally retarded women detonated in a coordinated attack on pet bazaars Friday, police and Iraqi officials said, killing at least 73 people in the deadliest day since the U.S. sent 30,000 extra troops to the capital last year.
Oh, and two more Americans killed Thursday.
Posted by Judith at February 1, 2008 09:47 AMThat makes 39 Americans in January. Boy, is that surge working or what?
Posted by Judith at February 1, 2008 10:04 AMJeff: Our Bengals are part Asian Leopard-cat and enjoy tearing newspapers to shreads. Reading one on the floor is not an option.

Gee, does clever manipulation of language occur in politics?
Might be a bumper sticker there, but most voters would think he's being compared to peppermint candy.

How right you are TIKI!
Jeff, I know what your talking about, opening the paper in the morning, having your "cup o' joe" sitting next you, finding exactly the place you want to go first. Great pacifiers!
I was just being a smart ass.
