He is a dirty son of bit-- that dosent care about the poor or the workink class who pay most of the damn taxes in the first place. I hope he rots in hell.

Posted by George E. Seeger at February 7, 2008 09:58 AMYou have to admit that watching this lunacy is simply like watching the inmates take charge of the asylum---with long time inmate McOld in "command"! He's ready to "take command" from "Day One"!
And people thought it was hyperbole to talk about military overextension and how past empires failed through egregious spending on the worthless black hole of militarism. Comical.
Cutting rail service in the final days of addressing global warming and as peak oil becomes a phrase in everyone's vocabulary---with airports cracking under the strain of traffic!! It's simply hilarious and a sign of how deeply degenerate our system has become.
A real Congress would have a solemn ceremony on the steps of the Capitol publicly throwing the Bushco Budget in a trash can and burning it, with a promise that every copy on Capitol Hill will be destroyed and will not even be looked at.
Trillions for imperial aggression, nothing for a peaceful future. Doomed BushAmerica's motto.
Posted by euzoius at February 7, 2008 10:01 AMSen. John McCain☼ (R-Ariz.) said on ABC's "This Week." "I hope we in Congress will have the courage to support it."
You mean McCain will show up to vote? I'm shocked... shocked I tell ya!
By the way, combined Pentagon spending and Iraq occupation spending for fiscal 08 will total $685 billion under Bushco's new imperial budget. Spending for current AND PAST militarism will of course exceed 50% of the 2.5 trillion budget.
Until militarism is confronted, one way or another, it simply will destroy us economically, not to mention morally (although that doen't seem to matter much to the so, so "deeply spiritual" [gag] people of BushAmerica).

Doesn't matter to these warmongers and the dumbshits who's only reality is going back forth to work in a bubble.
My wife tells me of the Union people at her work who are 'repukes'... I still can't figure that out that contradiction.
does it ever seem like the whole purpose of the Bush Admin has been to destroy this country?

Add in the war related stuff and black budgets and you get closer to $1.2 trillion. Corporate welfare, $1.1 trillion. Hell, last year alone Congress dumped more money into the stock market in 2 weeks than they spent on 2/3rds of everything we call welfare, education and housing. The needs of 2,000 hedge fund managers trump all. Where, oh where could we get the money for nationalized healthcare? It's undoable. Ah'm swoonin!
Posted by phidipides at February 7, 2008 10:53 AMBut if you prefer that, keep demonizing Hillary and Barack, folks. Keep making mountains out of ephermal campaign bullshit, you know, this staffer or that pollster, or this vote or that non vote, this one little word (not like those 16 little words in the SOTU, mind you) or that one.
If Joementum were still a Democrat, and he's not, but if he were, I'd take him over any republican alive or dead, and that includes Lincoln, at this point. THe cancer must go, and destructive fighting amongst ourselves isn't helping the treatment plan.

If by "destroy this country" you mean strip us of our civil liberties, spy on us, and start undeclared wars on God's advice, then yes.

You left out 'spend us into bankruptcy.' Remember the Soviet Union? Remember 'winning' the Cold War? How did we do that?
We spent them into bankruptcy. We used our economy to make them spend beyond their means for a long period of time, and poof! There goes the Soyuz Sovietski!
So now we're doing it to ourselves, and the only thing I can think of that's driving the bus off the cliff is greed. Corporate, political, military greed.
This happy horseshit has to stop. We are going under, and if we do not end it, we will find ourselves up to our ass in alligators with billion-dollar weapons that can hit a target 50 miles away or more, sitting rusting on the tarmac or floating at the dock with no fuel or crews because our depressed economy can no longer afford those luxuries.
Not to mention that we are facing an expensive conversion to green means of fighting Global Warming, and won't have the economy that can support the conversion.

"'I will be giving you precision without accuracy,' warned Gates."
Somebody needs to give that guy a dictionary. Precision and accuracy are SYNONYMS.
Posted by Shirin at February 7, 2008 02:41 PMYep...and we sure the hell haven't heard Hillary say one damn word about cutting military spending.
Meanwhile, those not-Progressive Senate Democrats are supporting Mitch McConnell's 'economic stimulus' package...instead of regulating lenders, letting bad lenders go belly-up, and restoring and expanding government guaranteed loan programs. If they want to send $600 rebate checks, let them do so out of the Pentagon's budget.
