It's about dang time! This oughta be interesting...

The administration has said the information being sought is off-limits under executive privilege, and argues that Bolten and Miers are immune from prosecution.

Since the Bush admin and the republicans like immunity so much, why don't we give immunity to illegal immigrants. We'll just say they can't be prosecuted or deported. Forget fines, back taxed, learning English. Immunity is the way to go!

I guess you'll be able to find Princess Sparkle Pelosi and Harry "never met a lobbyest I wouldn't blow" Reed locked in a closet. No way in hell this was done with their support.

Too little too god damned late.

Don't get your hopes high. The spinless Democrats will back off when they here cracking whip from the Whitehouse. Havn't you guys figured it out by now? The Democrats do these things to assure their base that they are fufilling the wishes of voters who gave them the majority in 2006. They think we are so stupid.

Well, good, I guess. It's historic anyway. But so was WH aide Scooter being convicted of perjury.

And are we just being primed for the real outrage, a House cave on "telecom" (i.e WH) immunity?

I agree with suresh..it is another spineless Dem gesture..ok trolls I know you're outraged by the actions of the traitorous Dem's...you can come on out with your lies and propaganda and extraneous bullshit now..

While watching the protesting republicans file out of congress en masse, I had a flashback to our fire drills in kindergarten. Of course, we had much more mature attitudes at the time.

And I'm surprised that after Bush has told us that new terrorist plots are being whipped out on a daily basis, he has not ordered Homeland Security to implement "Bin Laden duck 'n cover maneuvers" for the safety of our present day rugrats.

President Eisenhower would have caught Bin Laden like a "John" during a hooker sting at the first 9-11 meeting.

TIKI---Team Repub was whooping it up like they were leaving a AA baseball game somewhere in Red America.

Posted by euzoius at February 14, 2008 05:10 PM

And also worth some praise is Pelosi's decision today to let the amended Spy America Act expire---none of Bush's warrantless surveillance is now legal, at all.

Pass the "overseas connection" fix, and nothing else, no (WH) immunity, no blanket warrants, and let the senate Repubs block it or Bush veto it. Then say, "Th-Th-Th-That's All Folks"! and let the bloated and spider veined faces of Bush and Cheney spew their malodorous spittle everywhere they want.

The congressional Rethugs refuse to enforce a contempt of congress action on White House staffers.

Shorter Rethug congress: Please Show Me Contempt, Rethug White House. Here, I'll Help You Do It.

What better demonstration of these 'respresentatives' craven lickspittle subservience to the stained White House.

We shall see.

Agree with ya euzious.

For all of her failings, the Senate Dems are far more trouble than the House.

Rockerfeller needs to go away, retire, go fishing, whatever, just stop pretending to be a Democrat defending the Constitution. I think there's a petition around urging him to ship out, or get a primary opponent against him, it's a grand idea!

suresh and headxray, I know it's been a while, maybe not in your lifetime, when the Democrats actually accomplished the right something, so it may not be recognizable, but this is one of those times.

Read what Pelosi and Hoyer and Chairman Reyes and Chairman Conyers said on the 2 issues. They made statements of their position, not threats or empty demand letters to the White House, but said it like it is.

We're back to the FISA court as it should have been ever since they fucked up the law with the Patriot Act. For once they actually, and you know its coming, wait for it, here you go...DEMONSTRATED their Democratic values with actions, or inaction as the case may be.

Let's encourage them to repeat the exercise, don't wank on them for doing the right thing please.

IF the House Dems were serious they would have brought inherent contempt proceedings against Bolten, Miers, etc. Inherent contempt allows the House to arrest Bolten and Miers and try them directly. Besides impeachment it is one of the most powerful weapons Congress has against the tyrannt in the White House.
