I liked what you said, except for the part where you quote an...American Research Group?... poll. That's a little like quoting a Zogby poll.
Bush's ratings are somewhere between 27 and 32, according to Pollingreport.com
Posted by at February 23, 2008 07:49 AMI referenced it as a possible outlier. Whatever the group conducting it, the methodology still has relevant history.
It's just one new poll. We'll see what happens with the rest soon.
Posted by paradox at February 23, 2008 08:00 AMGet back on the meds Paradox. Where's the ARG's numbers on Congress? Congress has been below the presidents numbers by ruffly half. So now, by ARG's numbers, they're equally bad. Democrats running Congress and a Republican admin, equally bad. Let that soak in a bit.
With the exodus, how many of these seats turnovers? How many of the senates seats are turnovers? 67 senators voted for the FISA Law, many are those y'all worked so hard to get elected recently, the last two election cycles. They sided with this admin, five of those newly minted senators that gave the Democrats the majority voted for the FISA Law.
Talk about old regurgitated vomit, the rest of your spew is xerox copied from each election cycle in my lifetime. Change would mean something new from liberals. Where is the new? McGovern, Mondale, Dukakis, Gore, and Kerry all uttered this stuff, Presidents Carter and Clinton too. 5 trillion dollars to fight poverty and we're still talking about it. President Clinton finally reduced the time someone can spend on welfare to two years, cutting our losses and, as Mrs. Obama said at UCLA recently, demand people work. They aren't, they just drop off the rolls.
Change isn't coming, not from this Congress, and this leadersheep. they're just concerned about their corner offices.
Posted by peter at February 23, 2008 08:12 AMWhy the failure to highlight the Obama foreign policy team? One incident, easily set up by Bush, will put foreign policy front and center. And Obama is a lightweight. Just any lightweight? No...so do us a favor and write a piece on his foreign policy team...because that team is a big liability. It is the Carter team (about the worst possible team around other than Bush) with the incompetent part of the Clinton team, Anthony Lake, coupled with Susan Rice, an apologist for Hamas. Not many people are aware of these views. However, this team is vetted by the opposition, anxiety will set in. So do it now. Tell us about the vulnerabilities of Obama's foreign policy team. Tell us about their high controversial positions. And then add in a little Farrakhan and Obama's church for seasoning.
Over confidence is what Dukakis had...along with a big primary turnout as well. and great polls. Why are you ignoring such an analysis and bringing reality back into the picture? To justify that you were correct in voting for Obama? Isn't that narcissistic? Argue a credible opposite position.
Posted by lily15 at February 23, 2008 08:14 AMAside from Peter's dismal and rather catastrophic projections, I think that the trend lines are very clear. Change is coming because our citizens want it and Obama seems to offer it.
IMO, Bush's numbers per se arent that relevant at this point. His numbers reflect his core constituencies; membership is indeed declining. Not sure that it makes a big difference (i.e 32% vs. 19%) with the decisions of the current electorate.
Ultimately, the Clinton's will do what is necessary for her career (i.e. majority leader)and to brighten up his tarnished legacy.
We're done with the 'old' and that means McCain too!!!
Posted by tfitznc at February 23, 2008 08:29 AMLet's talk about health care. Tell me Paradox, with Democrats saying we need this, why couldn't the Democrats running California get this done for California? The Governator was wanting it, he was ready to sign it into law. Couldn't even get it out of committee. Gov. Romney's version in Mass. has found their cost doubling according to Gov. Patrick, and thats for 'only' 330K people.
Pardon me, but lili's right with his foreign policy team too...great for change. Sen. Obama is the Chairman of a Foreign Relations subcommittee for Europe. Why hasn't this committee sat? Held hearings? Any hearings? His chance to see how things work and he's failed to take the reigns. Hasn't even called on European leaders, travelled to Europe, his night job just too important.
Posted by peter at February 23, 2008 08:30 AMAs Europe shows, Obama is not a change maker, just another guy from Oz.

Posted by paradox at February 23, 2008 09:02 AMlook at the primary turnouts....people are ready to make a change.
Posted by T2 at February 23, 2008 09:15 AMBarack Obama, the Bernie Ebbers of Democratic politics.
Posted by peter at February 23, 2008 09:22 AMObama's foreign policy team consists of members of the realist school, all of whom opposed the Iraq invasion from the beginning, such as Brezinski. And Heavens, an advisor that doesn't declare (democratic election winning) Hamas immediately subhuman and beyond the pale! What next?
Hillary's team is a gang of pro-Iraq invasion, AIPAC locksteppin' hawks, who were as wrong as their Clintonian "leader" on Iraq. Hillary can't think straight on foreign policy. She's got bad judgement, advisors can't cure that, no matter what.
Out with the failed Iraq Invaders---their judgement was horrendously flawed, the obstinate "I'm never wrong" Hillary most of all.
And pinhead peter should have been banned as an RNC-assigned troll years ago.
Posted by euzoius at February 23, 2008 09:30 AMAnd as Geezer McBush's story about his lobbying connections to the sublime Vicki and her clients springs leaks everywhere, it's becoming quite clear that the Straight Crap Express is as much a liar as his Dear Leader Bush---par for the Repub course.
Serial overstatement, inaccurate blanket denials, lies, incomprehension as to what he's said previously---is Geezer McBush senile?
Posted by euzoius at February 23, 2008 09:40 AMNot even the NYTimes owned Boston Globe would touch that article. Neither would the left coast Seattle papers who had printing rights. One look and they turned their noses and dropped it. Alot of fiction, funny how y'all seem to label the NYTimes as Bush friendly and their articles not worthy, yet you accepted this unquoted article as fact.

Why do Leftists need so many rules?
Posted by Bagley at February 23, 2008 09:57 AMDamn! Paradox,
I want to smoke what you've got! Although, I guess mine isn't so bad, because I tend to agree with your obvious delusions. While I've been scoping properties in Canada lately, there's just a chance, despite global warming, that it may not be necessary, this election cycle, to have a fallback country to retire to. I'm beginning to feel the (60's?) love! We may be able to take our constitution back this time. Despite MANY hundreds wasted on Kerry's Army of Lawyers I may be a sucker again! Some times, age does not yield wisdom! What the Hell! Roll 'em!
Posted by DemnNewJ at February 23, 2008 10:03 AMThe talk about change is a waste of time. A progressive agenda has clear goals: health care, economic equality, end the Iraq war, improve funding for education, stop the religious nonsense and money, etc. If this is change, then I am for change. If change is talking to the Republican until you're blue in the face with no results (obviously), then I against change.
Democrats have the numbers but they also have the most hate filled divisive campaign in generations. It's very likely that many Democrats will stay home on election day due polarization. Then change will be a pipe dream.
Posted by Koshembos at February 23, 2008 10:11 AMThe times may be changing, but there's remarkable continuity too. It'll be interesting to see our candidates performance on the $718 billion FY '09 military budget proposed by the Bush administration. From the F-22 to anti-ballistic missiles to the Gerald Ford class CVN, it appears "all options are on the table," with a hardware intensive vengeance, to serve the corporate elites who retain our politicians to perform their errands.
Why won't our candidates discuss our profoundly dysfunctional military establishment, equal to the rest of the world combined, yet losing six wars against light infantry militias simultaneously? Just following orders?
Posted by Pvt. Keepout at February 23, 2008 11:25 AMI would like to see the results of the Texas, Ohio, PA and Indiana primaries first, before we start crowning Barack as the Standard Bearer of the Democratic party.
We aren't there yet. I really dislike the hype.
Also...
I'd like to see more shoes drop on McOld and his way-too-comfortable incestuous relationship with lobbyists. If the New York Times and the Washington Post have more, I want them to publish it.
Nothing like corruption to tarnish a carefully crafted image.

Because, like children and the mentally challenged, without strict and expansive rules Leftists are very likely to cause embarrassment and injury to themselves.
Witness the insightful postings of headxray and gay veteran: these are two that should not be allowed out in public without strict supervision.
Posted by Bagley at February 23, 2008 01:54 PMfascist's like yourself should simply be locked away for good along with your criminal party leadership, bagless...your only function is to subvert the Constitution....
Posted by headxray at February 23, 2008 02:08 PMWell, headxray, if you are posting here it is very likely you are not out in public -- and this is a good thing.
Posted by Bagley at February 23, 2008 02:18 PMso bag less..care to explain why you hate this country and support fascists who are doing their best to dismantle the Constitution? Or are you going to treat us to more of your criminal party "talking points" and some more of your delusional crap?
