Well, if that was his "real" point, why did he have to make up a story to make it? Why would you think that this great orator would need you to explain "what he really meant". Kind of like Obama having to explain what his wife "really" meant when she screwed up. He said she was not a professional politician and therefore was not able to say for herself what she "really meant".
I suppose he told her get back in the kitchen and take those shoes off and leave all this politicing to the pros.
Is that what your saying?
Also, as far as Jake Trappers confirmation goes he says this:
"He told me his story, which I found quite credible, though for obvious reasons he asked that I not mention his name or certain identifying information."
So the "source goes unamed. You will believe anything won't you.
Here is a quote from a named source about this account:
"My husband, MSG Proctor (pictured here with GEN Petraeus last weekend), wrote from Iraq that Obama has his facts completely wrong and that his words are a diversion:
1. CPT’ s command companies, not platoons.
2. Platoons are not divided up to go to 2 different theaters, EVER.
3. There is no ammo shortage in OEF (Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan). Many platoons are deployed to remote sites in the mountains and require aerial resupply. Those resupply missions are dependent on favorable weather conditions.
4. Taliban weapons are usually not very good and we would not use them without a very high level of command approval.
5. The CDR in Chief is so high above the platoon level that comment doesn’t even deserve a response.
He’s just trying to exploit democratic boilerplate about OIF being a diversion from “the good war” (OEF). He’s wrong on many levels. We are winning in OIF. I just left Baghdad. We have everything we need except for our OWN government to be united behind victory in OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom)."

What more can one say?
They won't rest until this captain is "outed" and another whistleblower's career is destroyed. It's like they don't want to receive information from actual gub'mint insiders.
Obama should say he was told what he was told by the captain, others have confirmed it, and that he wouldn't dream of breaking the captain's confidence---and shame the press about the obvious diversion of basic resources away from Afghanistan, like that's controversial.
Posted by euzoius at February 23, 2008 02:40 PMWell, of course a master sergeant in Iraq knows everything about everything that's ever happened in "OIF" and "OEF" for the past 7 years. Sounds like a Bushco Repub kool-aid drinker to me.
And WE'RE the ones who'll believe anything, eh, Mancrapp00?
Posted by euzoius at February 23, 2008 02:50 PM"Well, of course a master sergeant in Iraq knows everything about everything that's ever happened in 'OIF' and 'OEF' for the past 7 years...."
Probably more than you do.
Definitely more than you think you do.
And definitely more than the collection of Leftists who frequent this site.
Posted by Bagley at February 23, 2008 03:28 PMto all you GOP/Bush war supporters....why has the greatest army in the world taken almost six years to fight a non-existent army in Iraq to a standstill? Who's in charge anyway? Is his name Bush? or is it some other guy?
Posted by T2 at February 23, 2008 03:35 PM"why has the greatest army in the world taken almost six years to fight a non-existent army in Iraq to a standstill?"
Because we have not yet started to fight: political correctness (a Leftist construct) is in the way....but will eventually be gone.

Posted by headxray at February 23, 2008 04:26 PMBagley, if you hurry you can leave your wife, your business and your two beautiful children and get over to Afghanistan and get in some fighting before it's over. You can whack political correctness and the Afghanis at the same time.
Go ahead, patriot. You want it? Put your ass where you mouth is. Or vice versa.

Posted by headxray at February 23, 2008 07:44 PMMaybe the Captain was once a 1st or 2d Lt who commanded a platoon and was then promoted to Captain. Stranger things have happened. Whatever.
Even without the Operation Iraq Fiasco, Operation Enduring Clusterfuck would still be a lost cause. The American way of war, hardware intensive savage applications of firepower, generates enormous civilian carnage, alienates allies and the uncommitted, validates the resistance and is a stupendous failure for all save the arms industry. And the rubes love it.
Of course, this is much too grave an issue for our candidates to acknowledge let alone discuss. Assuming their patrons permitted it.
Posted by Pvt. Keepout at February 23, 2008 08:29 PMDon't waste your time feeding Bagley. He is clueless, that is clear. He is a shining example of the dumb-thinking that got this nation in the current debacle it faces. Just laugh it off. People like Bagley are gripping because he knows his time is coming to a close as a new era in American politics dawns. His guys had ALL the power (every branch of the government and the corporate media) and STILL couldn't do one thing right. Rather, they've driven the country into the ground. Thanks to conservatives, our international standing is at historic lows, the economy is a wreck and their standard-bearer has lower approval ratings than any president in history: 19%!
So, no need to fight with fools like Bagley. History is correcting itself. Yes, he and others like him will cry and cry about the repudiation they are facing across the country, even in states like NE, KS, WY, ID, CO, VA and elsewhere.
Just keep giving him enough rope and he and all the others will happily hang themselves...
Posted by at February 24, 2008 06:06 AMThe premise of this post presupposes that 1) it was right to attack and start a war against Afghanistan for the acts of a few criminals who were not even Afghans, 2) such a "war" is winnable at all. Both questionable suppositions at best.
And are you suggesting that aggressive actions against other countries is a correct action on any pretext?
Posted by Shirin at February 24, 2008 09:36 AMmanape69 (or is it bagless bagley or jarjar jj?), where's Osama? you remember him? the guy Dear Leader LET ESCAPE
bagless bagley: Because we have not yet started to fight: political correctness (a Leftist construct) is in the way....but will eventually be gone.
so using your "logic" Dear Leader just let nearly 4000 American soldiers die for nothing.
Posted by gay veteran at February 24, 2008 02:12 PMshirin,
i said bush failed to get justic for 9/11. i would have sent in tactical teams to get the actual people responsible, and i certainly wouldn't have bombed anyone, but the reality is that al qaeda and the taliban needed to be taken care of, and afghanistan, as a whole, needed inernational aid; and bush did neither.
Posted by Turkana at February 24, 2008 02:47 PMTurkana, thanks for the clarification.
But the Taliban never attacked the United States, so I don't understand why they needed to be taken care of.
Afghanistan has needed a lot of things for a lot of years, and the U.S. didn't have any interested in that at all until after 9/11.
I am not arguing with you here, just pointing out a couple of things.
