Comments: They’re Trying to Crush Us

If you ask me Paradox, it shows how desparate Democrats are. Just plain desparate to be heard. Just don't over read the numbers, landslide...no way...and look back at Ford vs. Carter, looked like a landslide on Labor Day and ended up only a two point win for Carter. Experts feel another week and Ford wins, it was that close.

This will be another 1976, but, with the additional week. You still do have to over come the 62 million votes for GWB. They were there once and could be there again...even in this atmosphere.

Posted by peter at February 29, 2008 06:05 AM

They're never going to be there again and neither is the GOP, not ever like they were in 2004, not in our lifetimes.

I don't understand the mis-comprehension of the power of the internet. Already in just six years politics is radically different, yet people insist on not seeing what is in front of them.

The old model of corporate money and media control has significantly eroded, soon to be replaced with something new. What it is we don't know yet, but this time Little People will have power--not all, not yet, but much more.

Choke on it, GOP, choke and gag and puke, how come that money you always so counted on didn't come through? Heya? 'Cause it never was and never will be the end-all, for the love of Jesus finally grow up.

"...Bush is the most loathed President in modern history, the country is losing two wars with the economy in a free-fall...."

why oh why does Reality have a liberal bias? ;)

"...You still do have to over come the 62 million votes for GWB...."

How many "W" stickers do you see nowdays? ROFLOL, yeah, pants pissing peter, you stay down in the bunker with Dear Leader while the ReThug Party BURNS

Posted by gay veteran at February 29, 2008 06:28 AM

I agreed with most of what you said. I would use "stunning" in the most negative terms possible.

However, referring to McCain as the "walking corpse" is NOT helpful. I'm a Hillary supporter, but that "walking corpse" lived in a box for 5 years in the name of the United States. He deserves not to be called by such sickeningly ageist terms.

last paragraph :
"Election 2008 is where Democrats and liberals bake in without any doubt whatsoever "

what does this mean exactly ? bake in ?

Posted by Katherine Hunter at February 29, 2008 06:30 AM

And all this mountain of money is being wasted by two Dems battling each other, apparently to a draw. Not a cent spent on fighting the criminal Repubs abd their worthless turd of a Bushist candidate.

We act like the well is bottomless. Well, we'll see, especially with a major recession coming on.

To waste money like this on an extended primary fight is disgusting.

Posted by euzoius at February 29, 2008 06:53 AM

Oh, you think this is something "new". Gee, how desparate you are. Nothing new here, insurgent candidates have happened before. The small donations have happened before. What we've seen happening in Democratic primaries and caucuses are not the results of the little people's will, but the mixed up rules governing the primaries and caucuses. Sure the money numbers are large, just don't let there largest assuage your moods.

Posted by peter at February 29, 2008 06:59 AM

"Baked in" can be thought of as "to set in stone."

A cake is mushy and soft at 40 minutes, but it's baked in to its true and correct form at 60 minutes. It's slang I picked up in the Valley, an Interwoven implementation.

Thanks for reading. Please have a great day, eh?

“African-American superdelegates are being targeted, harassed and threatened,” said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II (D-Mo.), a superdelegate who has supported Clinton since August. Cleaver said black superdelegates are receiving “nasty letters, phone calls, threats they’ll get an opponent, being called an Uncle Tom.

“This is the politics of the 1950s,” he complained. “A lot of members are experiencing a lot of ugly stuff. They’re not going to talk about it, but it’s happening.”"
From politico.com

Is this also a "new" thing?

Posted by peter at February 29, 2008 07:11 AM

Don't get cocky, Paradox.

I feel exactly as you and have even been holding back on my donations, except for some primary challenges, for the same reasons, to DESTROY the enemies of democracy.

However, it's not just, and arguably, even far more than the ever-fungible Republican operatives that we must tackle. Back in my DFH days, I enjoyed the comics featuring Commander Cockroach. Some underling would come running up on six legs and report, Commander, we've just lost 340,000 troops! and his answer, Plenty more where they came from.

That is not just the Republican establishment's attitude to REAL troops, it's the Coproratocracy's attitude to Republican losses. Look at the retreads we've seen in this administration. Almost every damn one of the top echelon are pardoned criminals, indicted and untried miscreants and/or perennial insiders from the Ford Administration to the present. An entire cadre of new troops have been inserted into the poisoned well of government service: Regent University graduates, industry stooges and Christian Dominionists.

We will blow them out this election cycle, but the Wholly Owned Infotainment Industry will make sure that their records are not clearly understood, forgotten and finally, transformed into "experienced, SERIOUS and patriotic future public servants.

I hope your confidence in our ability to withstand assaults on net neutrality, civil rights (from a GENERATION of anti-judicial HACKS) and public distractability is well founded. Forgetting the scope of our task could be fatal to everything we hold dear. Nice post!

I second euzoius' comment. Blowing millions to argue over mostly mutually agreed to policies...instead of attacking the criminals who've hijacked our country.

Posted by T2 at February 29, 2008 07:24 AM

I know, DeminNewJ, but confidence is necessary too.

We'll see what happens. We're still in better shape than we were.

I agree that the waste is awful. It would have been much better not to have it happen, but it can't be changed now.

Thank you Paradox!

So nice to read a post about a united Democratic Party and what it means for November vs. the pro-one-candidate-anti-another primary crap that is all over the internets.

I believe that it is possible to be for a candidate without having to be against the other and I am more concerned about us tearing the Party apart than the Republican'ts.

I think that another sign - beyond just the massive amounts of money - is the enormous turn out. Friggin amazing. Hawaii alone had a 900% increase in turnout from 2004.

The majority of this country is so sick of the criminal GOP and will do whatever it takes to out them.

I thank you again for a positive post vs. the anti, anti, anti crap that I normally find on the blogs.

The audacity of hope, a guy bought and paid for by Nadhmi Auchi. No wonder he wants to get us out of Iraq. Never wanted us to hurt his meal ticket.

The audacity of hope, a guy bought and paid for by Nadhmi Auchi.

Why do you say this?... because Auchi knows Rezko?... Who knows Obama?... Please provide your link(s)?

Your buddy Drudge caught some serious flak yesterday for publishing Prince Harry being in Afghanistan. Poor guy had to be evacuated and his friends are in danger now. GOP working for freedom worldwide no matter who it places in danger!

Posted by Seven of Six at February 29, 2008 09:10 AM

Your buddy Drudge

Waitaminit, he was the Obaman left's buddy last week when he said Hillary sent the pic of Obama around the world. Hmm.

Posted by iamcoyote at February 29, 2008 09:23 AM

Many, many voters are precisely like myself, waiting as patiently as they can for the primaries to be over so donations can directly be used to beat Republicans.

Yep. As soon as one of the Dems gets 50 percent plus one of the Democonvention delegates, they're getting $500 from me.

PPP, remember your Dear Leader's 62 million votes well. It's a high-water mark your grandkids will roll their eyes at when you regale them with "The Story of the 2004 Election" from the kiddie table every Thanksgiving.

Posted by bartcopfan at February 29, 2008 09:31 AM

A German reporter actually broke the story...Drudge just expanded the exposure.

Posted by peter at February 29, 2008 09:33 AM

"And all this mountain of money is being wasted by two Dems battling each other, apparently to a draw."

Worse than that, they are damaging each other badly for the far more critical general election!

Don't count McCain out. Things won't be that simple.

Imagine an admittedly worst case scenario: some time between now and Nov. there is another major terrorist attack on the U.S. or a close ally. Now imagine voters trying to choose between Obama and McCain or Clinton and McCain. I think, in both cases, that voters would go for McCain. But, I think that Hillary, in spite of her being a woman, would do better than Obama in part because of her vote on Iraq and for the very reasons that Kosites, etc. despise her.

In terms of campaign strategies, Obama could easily blow it in a run against McCain by using the same condescending, dismissive, smirky attacks on McCain that he has used on Hillary. Consider a debate in which this tall, young, untried man talks down to war hero McCain. It won't matter what each says. People will see a lack of respect for McCain that is bound to turn off a lot of voters. Hillary won't do that to McCain, and he will have to be careful not to overplay the gender card with her.

In short, McCain will be a tough opponent and either Obama or Hillary could give him the White House (Edwards, or Biden, might actually have been the stronger candidate against McCain). But I think Hillary has a better shot than OBama.

An energized Democratic Party isn't enough. We need the right candidate. Now that we know McCain with get the Republican nod, we'd better make the right choice.
