Well folks, it seems the January up tick in casualties wasn't a trend. The numbers for February have fallen to 25 lost as compared to 69 last year. Our soldiers are doing a magnificent job.
Then there's our latest strike...Six foreigners among 8 killed in Waziristan: Locals suspect missile strike from across border. Still a little early, but we all can hope that the Egyptian is one of these "foreigners".

peter, once again you lie!
As of Feb. 25th the number of U.S. casualties was 29!
Take your republi-con propaganda elsewhere.
Our soldiers are doing a magnificent job.
They will always try and do their mission to the best of their ability. Too bad they are being dehumanized by the bu$h administration.

No surprising to notice how some minds seem to think alike…
“One death is a tragedy, a million death is just a statistic”
Great to be able to callously dispense with gut wrenching individual tragedies by turning them into a bunch of statistical matters, isn’t? Most particularly when casually reported by those mindful of their numbers folks who aren’t in the middle of the chaos.
At any rate, PAZ
Everyone is happy that the numbers of United States military casualties is down. It must be noted, however, that the Green Zone receives regular mortar and rocket fire, so the situation is far from secure.
The issue is that colonial occupations breed a nationalistic backlash from the local population. Governments that rely on the occupier for legitimacy and security are doomed to fall.
The United States is having difficulty in re-engineering the economy of Iraq into one that benefits US corporate interests...especially in the energy sector.
The Iraqis have a long and revered history of rejecting foreign occupiers with colonial designs. I suspect that, in time, they will expel the current one as well.
Posted by brisa at March 1, 2008 11:10 AMThe "surge" is merely a bribery secured partial truce veneered with military machismo to deflect the rubes attention from the fulminating Iraq catatrophe. Till Bush/Cheney & Co. leave office with another of their signature stinking, dripping piles of shit for someone else, better men and women than they, to clean up.

"Yet something similar might be said of those who remain so passionately invested in a futile war's perpetuation. They are unable to see that, surge or no surge, the Iraq war remains an egregious strategic blunder that persistence will only compound."

So what happens when the money stops? We all know the answer to that one. Just ask the FBI when they stopped paying their telecom wiretap bill.
