Forget griping about the Press and Media....its been co-opted by the GOP for years. The KEY to this gasoline story is not the manipulation of energy prices in California....been there done that (right Cheney?). No, the key is the cost of gasoline. If the cost of gas continues to rise across the country at the rate it has the last nine months, the public will toss the War President.. live by Big Oil, die by Big Oil. High gas prices are the one thing everybody hates and everybody knows the War President is the poster child for Big Oil.

I, for one, will never tire of bitching and spitting at our media for being such nefarious incompetent gullible chumps. They play a critical role in our democracy and if the sonzabitches had done their jobs in 2000 we wouldn't be stuck with that war felon we call a president.

Duckman beat me to it. I had read Steve's post earlier about the pathetically lame Bush attack against Kerry and thought: I'd sleep easy tonight too, IF those idiots we call editors actually decide to print real news.

The lead was Gail Collin's admission on Sunday that the press corps took the election stakes of 2000 as very low. Hey it's just the presidency, let's simply blow off our careers for this cycle. Unbelievable. So they coddled Bush and made Gore out to be a liar.

If we had a real media Bush would be polling in the 20's right now. If they'd ever get off their incredibly lazy asses and chase down the 9/11 commission stories Bush would be in the 20's by April.

Our media are lazy, stupid traitors. They have a lot of responsibility for Bush--and the war. There's blood on their hands but they're obliviously frothing about botox and what colors Clark's clothes were. I hope they rot in hell.

Well, botox is a big issue. Who wants to see the Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model with crows feet? I think all conservatives and liberals can agree on that one! Common ground! Hallelujah!

Whether or not the press is liberal or conservative depends on what you're reading or watching. I find the printed press seems to be very liberal. The broadcast media tends to be very conservative.

I don't think the press caused Al Gore to lose in 2000. Blame Nader. Blame a poor election system. Blame Gore for not capturing his home state.

Bush won't fall below 40%, because there are zealots on the right who would support him no matter what.

High gas prices - one more car in the Republican train wreck we call our economy.

Are we on the verge of getting shafted by the greedy oil industry again? It seems more than coincidental that the cutbacks from OPEC were matched by the sudden failure of 2 refineries. Tonight as I drove home from work, the price of the 87 octane gas was $2.15 per gallon -- and just one month ago, the price was $1.79. Perhaps our Republican governor can ask his friends in the White House to investigate this? Or do you think the WH is still looking for more ways to extract money out of California and to punish Californians for voting Democrat?

We're like the nation's ATM, and someone's gone and given up their secret password to Don Corleone.

This administration has turned me into a nasty, suspicious, cynical bastard, compared to the cynical bastard I used to be. I don't trust "coincidences" from this maladministration and their flunky's, crony's, and disciples; so I've got to figure that there's decomposing sealife wrapped in some dead tree info packet distribution device in the Scandinavian State.
