There's only ONE issue - who'll beat oven chip in Nov - it's Obama!
Posted by John at March 4, 2008 01:34 AMWho has been Swiftboating Obama, the Canadian Memo, where did that come from and who called Goolsbe and set him up? Who pushed up Rezko's trial which was to start much later this year? Why did Somali picture come out, along with Farrakahn endoresement and mocking of his middle name? We have to ask these things? Who does not want to give unity and hope a chance? Is this part of the Kitchen Sink or may be the Basement? I do know its dirty politics and until we reject this kind of politicking in America we will be a pawn in their hands, the people of power, and never find our true Independence which Obama is offering. The Evil Ones are just getting started. Someone is trying to pull our strings. The Truth will come out. Hopefully, America we can see through this Rouse this time and elect CHANGE!
The Republicans would love to run against Hillary. They have so much dirt in their Arsenal waiting to be Unleashed!
Posted by bacaangel at March 4, 2008 02:32 AMI am not addressing bacaangel's repeated query in this post. I certainly have no way of knowing if the Clinton campaign, and by that I mean largely Mark Penn, had his hands in any of the, highly predictable kinds of dirty tricks we had all better expect in the upcoming campaign. If anyone has followed what I've been writing for the past several months, they will know that I do not support the campaign of Hillary Clinton. It's not personal animus. I do believe that she is genuinely (somewhat) progressive, dare I say it, even liberal in her views. As President, I would be sanguine about her abilities and intentions for the office.
However there is an aspect about her campaign that has ALWAYS caused me to place her virtually last on my list of candidates and yesterday, she donned her water skis and, leather Jacket shining wetly in the sun, performed an unforgivable leap over a basking Great White.
Inexcusably, in an interview with CNN, which I watched with mine own eyes, she stated:
I have a lifetime of experience that I will bring to the White House. I know that Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience that he will bring to the White House. And Senator Obama has a speech he gave in 2002.
I have been left unmoved by other so-called "outrages" and rumors that her camp were spreading innuendo and rumors about Obama to Drudge and similar sludge of the "press" but I can no longer look away and let this pass.
You do NOT praise the experience of an arguably, criminally insane, war-mongering panderer to every anti-democratic, anti-American principle held precious by genuine patriots, for the sake of undercutting a fellow Democrat who is beating you in the polls. Hillary may be good friends with MaCain, but she no longer deserves my support when she hands him his golden sound byte, which we will all be hearing ad nauseum if Barack wins the nomination.
I have LONG been concerned with the company Ms. Clinton keeps. My fear that the experience she keeps harping on is the knowledge of WHO has the money, WHO pulls the K-Street strings and WHO to call for favors when compromise is needed and, more than merely acceptable, is par for the course. She is neck deep in the DLC tar pits and that has always been my major hesitation in her candidacy. To merely point to the tip of the substantial iceberg, in an article on Jed Report
Hillary Clinton's chief strategist is Mark Penn, and Charlie Black, John McCain's top adviser, is chairman of BKSH, the DC-based lobbying subsidiary of Burson-Marsteller -- of which Mark Penn is CEO.
Yes, this is the same lobbyist Barack Obama was referring to when he criticized John McCain for allowing lobbyists to conduct their business on board his bus.
The article in not news, but it make some valid points which explain why, quite frankly, I hope she loses large today and can exit this exhausting race with some tattered grace still apparent; and STOP HELPING JOHN MCCAIN!
Posted by DemnNewJ at March 4, 2008 03:18 AMAll things being equal (I know, I know), HEALTH INSURANCE was my top issue. Single payer like Medicare, get the for profit insurance companies out of the picture.
But a funny thing happened on the way to the fourm. I do not want the opposition to tell me what is wrong with the rest of the candidates. I want each candidate to tell me how they are are going to tackle the many problems we face. Unemployment. Foreign Affairs. Middle east (not only Iraq & Afghanistan but Israeli/Palestinian situation. Health Care. Good Paying Job Loss.
Posted by Chief at March 4, 2008 03:37 AMBack when Fitz got Scooter Libby, y'all loved him. Now that he's infringing on one of your own...Geesh.
Naftaquiddick is your problem, a totally unforced error by the Obama team. Oh and unemployment was above 6% when NAFTA was signed, now it's at 4.9%, with many more people in the work force. Ohio's problem was higher taxes drove business out of the state. They fired that guy and didn't hire his successor. Yeah, Republican Governor Taft tried to tax business to get many of the states woes fixed. Business said no way and moved to the state of New Jersey with a friendlier to business Governor McGreevey inviting them in. NJ's unemployment rate was a full percentage point below the national average as a result.

How do the Democrats answer? How do you answer that saving the planet is at the top of the list without seeming weak on defense?
Posted by bob h at March 4, 2008 04:22 AMbacaangel,
don't spam the same comment on multiple threads. and if you want answers to those questions, i'd suggest you go check freeperville. i'm sure they share your opinions. among other things.
Posted by Turkana at March 4, 2008 04:37 AMNAFTA-quidick? LMAO! There's nothing there. An overexcited Canadian bureaucrat leaps to conclusions. And if you pay attention to what is being said by all sides in the matter, none of it contradicts Obama's position on NAFTA, which is that NAFTA needs to be changed. I guess what's going on here is Hillary's team figures if you kick enough sand, from farther away it might look like clouds of smoke. But it's not, it's just Hillary's dirty and ineffective campaigning.
Since Hillary loves to tout her experience so much, why doesn't she tell us all about how she advised her husband on negotiating, signing and implementing the single most anti-union economic treaty in the history of the United States? [sarcasm]Yeah, I can't imagine why Obama would want to change NAFTA[/sarcasm]. There's a lot of reasons the big unions have lined up to endorse Obama, and a big part of that is his stand on NAFTA and the previous Clinton administration's role in implementing NAFTA.
Rezko? Obama's not done anything wrong there. Obama's not the one on trial and even implying that Fitz is after Obama is insanely dirty politicking. Way to just make crap up.
So, what's the most important issue for me? Trying to get a candidate into office who will uphold at least some core Democratic Party ideals. No, Obama is not Kucinich or Edwards. He is a centrist candidate. But the Clintons aren't really centrist, are they? Their biggest legislative victories in the previous administration were done hand-in-hand with the Republican Congress. Despite the impeachment inanity, Clinton had much better relations with the Republican Congress than the Democratic one he helped usher out. Face it, Hillary's a right-wing Democrat, nothing centrist about her. That's my most important issue.
[sarcasm]Well, that's the most important issue for me this year and also, of course, I'm a brain washed Obama cultist.[/sarcasm]

YEP.

That a country which faced the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, and Imperial Japan is perfectly capable of handling terrorists without destroying what America is supposed to stand for.
Your two clowns already have Latin America longing for more Bush. And they don't like Bush.
Posted by peter at March 4, 2008 06:20 AMDemNJ thanks for highlighting that despicable quote from Hillary. When we lose in Nov, it will be because of such statements in this primary.
Hillary has now explicitly said that the Repub candidate is preferable to her Dem opponent. Parse it all you want, that is the direct meaning of the words and the sentence organization, there is no doubt.
So she's crossed a crucial Rubicon here---her Dem opponent is now inferior to the insane militarist McCain. And she thinks that Obama supporters are all going to "hold their nose" for her after she wins in such fashion? Highly doubtful, now.
Posted by euzoius at March 4, 2008 08:14 AMSome of you people are seriously incapable of any objectivity at this point. How is what Hillary said about McCain any different that how Obama has praised McCain in the past for his "honor" while at the same time attacking Hillary for her "dishonesty" and "do anything, say anything to win"? Isn't that the same thing - praising a Republican and smearing a fellow Democrat. Your faux outrage is simply ridiculous.
I have no dog in this fight, but it is simply astounding to listen to so much irrationality when people cannot see past their chosen candidate. There are so few blogs left with any objectivity - Digby is one of the best.

well Bush did a lot for their economies when he was "in" the TANG.....that is, he bought a lot of coke
