It's been quite a shock. We found out today. Worse because Chapel Hill as a whole is a very quiet town where violent crimes like this is unheard of. Thanks for posting this.
Posted by tarheel74 at March 6, 2008 02:22 PMPeople killing each other.
In America, in the Middle East, all over the world.
Trained military, lone gunmen, suicide bombers.
It never stops.
Our gun-saturated, gun-lovin', gun-nut nation of murderous violence. Is it just me or does it seem like the majority of gun victims are under 25?
And absolutely nuthin' that can be done about it. Yet another area in which we cannot reform ourselves, because of conservative Repub politics-playing and abject irresponsibility, as usual.
The Wingnut Supremist Court has a Second Amendment case involving DC's handgun ordinance they will decide this term. The conservative extremist "judges" now in control of the Court likely will declare Second Amendment rights both personal and absolute, so don't think there's any chance of progressing on this front of insanity. Our future is crowing male gun nuts and their ever larger home arsenals.
The walls are steadily closing in on BushAmerica and its multitudinous pathologies, insanities and failures.
Posted by euzoius at March 6, 2008 03:34 PMThere is always that solution posed in "The Day The Earth Stood Still".
When you get an actionable harmful thought in your head you are automatically eliminated.
Bush, Cheney, and the rest of the neocons would have been vaporized at the Iraq Invasion planning table.
Posted by TIKI AL at March 6, 2008 04:03 PMMaybe the First Amendment is the real problem.
Could it be that our forefathers never intended it to be interpreted as it has been?
Posted by jj at March 6, 2008 04:44 PMcould it be that jackoff jj is nothing but a little puke party bootlicking prick? maybe it's fascist scum like you that is the real problem jackoff....
Posted by headxray at March 6, 2008 08:03 PMAnother very elegant, thought provoking, intelligent statement from Gay Ray
You will go far.
Posted by jj at March 7, 2008 03:49 AMone need not go far in order to see what a fuckup fascist you are jackoff jj...
Posted by headxray at March 7, 2008 08:18 PMIt is clear that conventional law enforcement is not up to the job of protecting people. If you are going after a rabid junkyard dog, you do not go in there with ASPCA rules; you take the leash off your own bigger, meaner dog. What we needed then, and what we need now, is Los Angeles to be placed under martial law, to be administered by the Army. Soldiers would be given immunity from state and local laws and they would have authority to conduct searches, detain people, and do other things that they see fit to deal with this crisis on our streets.
