Comments: Forever is a very long time

when Bush trotted out this "Agreement" idea a few months ago, I called for both Obama and Clinton to categorically reject both the idea and the authorization to do it. I recall both may have put out wishy-washy comments generally objecting. They need to say NO, Hell NO. Unless, of course, one/both of them is ok with it. McOld is obviously on board with it, and Clinton praises his "experience" daily, so maybe she is too? I'd just like them to clarify their positions. If they have and there is a link, I'd like to read it.

I recall Clinton saying NO, HELL NO in several debates and put forth legislation or a resolution or something, which she asked Obama to co-sponsor with her, saying that Bush could not sign an agreement without the approval of Congress. Unless I'm talking about a different thing, Clinton was categorically and vocally against it.

cg,

i'd love to see a link. that would be very encouraging.

You're right, CG, Clinton has been very vocal about it at debates and in her speeches.

Boy, that Iraq AUMF was the Goose that laid the Golden Egg for Bushco!

This executive "agreement" (i.e. treaty) is being set up for McGeezer to argue that Iraq is now "relying" on America to "keep its promises!" unlike Vietnam (it always comes back to Vietnam and "humiliation" for the addled McOld).

I thought Clinton had made a statement, good for her. I'd like her to challenge McOld to do the same.
yeah, euzoius, give Bush an inch and he'll take a mile, every time. A lot of Congressmen understood that at the time of the AUMF vote. A lot of them apparently didn't. Bad judgement, I'd say.

I have one question. The troops are coming from where without a draft for this 5 year, 10 year, or 100 year war?

There have been so many missed opportunities for this Congress to tell Bush his actions are unConstitutional or that they, the Congress, have the right to thwart his actions whether he likes it or not. Senate ratification has become a joke in the world of Executive Authority. Bush must laugh himself to sleep every night.

Hill is always vocal. Go by what she does not what she says. The Dems could cut off funding in the House. Saying they can't do anything is b s. Obama is no better than Hill.

Bush must laugh himself to sleep every night.

Maybe not. Heehee:

Carlyle Capital Corp. failed to meet four margin calls yesterday for $37 million, and has received notice of default from its lenders. The fund is the publicly traded arm of the Carlyle Group, the Washington D.C. equity and leveraged buyout firm that lies at the nexus of corporate and governmental power in the U.S. The Carlyle Group is the modern day source of enormous wealth for the Bush family. George H.W. Bush is a shareholder and former board member, as are key members of his administration such as Frank Carlucci, former head of the CIA, and James A. Baker, former Secretary of State.

The funniest bit:

It is now clear that the credit crisis is striking at the very epicenter of business and governmental power in America, and potentially threatening the fortune of the Bush family. For a long time it was assumed that a board seat was being left open for President George W. Bush upon his retirement in 2009, but in recent years that speculation has been dampened since the Carlyle Group requires from its board members a minimum of useful international contacts and some basic business competence.

How will Bush loot the treasury to pay Daddy's margin call?

Posted by euzoius at March 7, 2008 09:06 AM

Once again the logical thing here would be to use of one of those checks and balance powers that Congress was granted by the constituion and possesses ...like how about introducing and passing legislation revoking the AUMF...ok get up stop you're ROTFLYAO....I just like to dream....I know that the chances of that happening are the same as GWB and Co impeachment and hell freezing over.

maybe Dear Leader should send a thank-you note to Hillary

And one to Obama, thanking him for the continued funding, huh?

Posted by iamcoyote at March 7, 2008 10:32 AM

sorry iamcoyote, only one Democratic nominee got it RIGHT from the very beginning, which is why Hillary would have a hard time beating McBush
