Sen. Obama is forging a new path. He is courageously and necessarily (that fierece urgency of now) trying to implement a more ethical and cooperative way to run for a Presidency or any American office with truth and a concentration on the issues and to point out political differences without the negative way of destroying an opponent for one's political gain. There is no experience for that, as it is a new path and trend. He is a Pioneer.
He is also trying to necessarily (that fierce urgency of now) implement a new way to Govern through a self-sustaining People's Colliation, taking the power out of special interest groups, corporations, and those with great wealth and returning the power back to the People where it belongs in a true democracy. There is no experience for this -- it is a new way-- he is a Pioneer. Some things call for a different energy than experience in breaking down old barriers that do not work for the good of all. It is a hard and difficult task to break down these old special-interest barriers. He is fighting against a very determined force for that not to happen -- that is why Hillary Clinton often aligns and compares herself with McCain, the Past, the Old and the Status Quo -- Barack represents the Future, the New (newer values) and that which is Progressive.
In essence, America is only as good and strong (a strength forged from goodwill, integrity, a freedom from fear and want) as her politicians and leaders! America is trying to reclaim her Soul!

Posted by Sharon at March 9, 2008 06:44 AMGak! Obama spam! baca, you do know how creepy that religious talk is. And you do understand that it's a brokered convention, so further campaigning and wootwoot's about Wyoming delegates don't mean anything. But if you want to put some superdelegates to sleep while rolling their eyes, why don't you send your sermon to them - their vote is the only one that matters now.

I would encourage you to actually read the Kos diary (http://granny-doc.dailykos.com) that folks are referring to as an example of Obama "winning Texas".
I too think that may be a bit stretch; however, he IS likely to beat her by 4 delegates to the national convention when the caucus results are fully counted.
Granny's post was directed at her perception of media bias in reporting particularly at CNN. It has some powerful arguments if you take time to read them instead of reacting viscerally.
In addition, the caucus is the ONLY state-wide vote in Texas. Finally, the argument that popular vote in an indirect, representative system is somehow superior to delegate totals doesn't hold water in the context of the national convention nomination process.
I do agree that the validity of the nomination process would be enhanced by the nominee getting a plurality of the delegates and the popular vote. So far, that would be.... OBAMA
My dog died yesterday.
I'm taking him out to my parents house to bury him next to all our other family pets.
That's all.
Posted by snark at March 9, 2008 07:29 AMSnark,
My heart-felt condolences.
My 13-year old golden retriever, Nikky, died just before his birthday last December. I just didn't realize his importance in our lives until I had to see him pass on. I think of him daily .... it will get better tho.
Posted by tfitznc at March 9, 2008 07:34 AMLife does go on doesn't it Snark. So sorry about your dog.
While people are fighting about Obama and Hillary, I am taking care of my 86 year old Mother who had brain surgery three weeks ago. Somehow nothing else in important to me right now.
Posted by Judith at March 9, 2008 07:40 AMAw, snark, I'm sorry. You mean Oscar? Hugs to you and your family; I know he was really special to you all.
Posted by iamcoyote at March 9, 2008 07:48 AMSnark, you have my sympathy. I hope the sun peeks out for the burial.
Posted by Sharon at March 9, 2008 07:51 AMJudith, I feel for you and your mom too. My 79 year old mother is having back surgery on Thursday so I'm kinda worried. Since she can't walk without considerable pain, she doesn't see any other option.
Posted by Sharon at March 9, 2008 07:54 AMAnd sorry to you, too, tfitznc; it certainly turns your world around, doesn't it?
Judith, I knew you were taking care of your mom, but I hadn't realized she had to go through surgery, too. Yeah, the bickering just doesn't seem important anymore, does it?
Posted by iamcoyote at March 9, 2008 07:55 AMAw Snark, sorry about your dog.
Judith, I hope your mom is doing well.
Posted by CG at March 9, 2008 08:57 AMI'm sorry you lost you dog, Snark.
Maybe if we talk to Obama about it he could perform a resurrection?
(That's a joke.)
I am sorry for you loss.

End the war. Support the troops who oppose it.
So sorry for all of you who lost furry family members or are dealing with elderly family members who are having medical difficulties. Certainly puts some perspective on what truly matters.
Posted by emal at March 9, 2008 10:38 AMSharon, Iamcoyote and CG, thank you. My Mother has been living independently in her home and hopefully we can return her to independent living.
I want everyone to know something that most doctors do not tell you. If you are on any of the blood thinners and you take a bad fall, especially if you hit your head, be sure to do a follow-up brain scan to make sure you are not bleeding into your brain.
Mother took a bad fall hitting her head in December. We immediately took her to the ER for a brain scan which showed no bleeding into the brain. Had a doctor suggested a follow-up scan a month later, the bleed could have been detected then, and taken care of without surgery. Evidently, a bleed can occur at a later date.
Posted by Judith at March 9, 2008 10:41 AMSorry to hear about your doggie, snark. Sounds like you've had pets before and know that it's difficult. Pets are family members (that the whole family likes!)
And hopes for a speedy recovery for your mom, judith.
Posted by euzoius at March 9, 2008 03:00 PMThanks emal and euzoius.
Posted by Judith at March 9, 2008 03:32 PMJudith,
So sorry about your mom.
Thank you to everyone for your sympathies. Oscar would have been 12 this year. He was indeed a member of the family. We often referred to him as "our first born". Although our oldest daughter took some exception at that.
His mortal remains are now resting below the branches of a lovely old magnolia tree that will soon be bursting with the new life of spring.
He was a good and loyal dog.
Posted by snark at March 9, 2008 07:03 PMSnark, what a lovely burial place for your "good and loyal dog."
