Comments: Just wondering

Was this guy a Pimp or a John?

Posted by lordtyranus2 at March 10, 2008 02:21 PM

Turkana, great comparison. I didn't think about Vitter. Spitzer should stay on and use Vitter as the precendent ... and watch the winger's head explode.

Posted by Howd at March 10, 2008 02:24 PM

I know you're not feeling well today, you have my condolences. I also know you know better than this...than this post. Chief Law Enforcer of a state verses just another legislator. I could fall into the "while in office trap" but I won't. He busted people for this offense more than once. What would that say to those he got convicted? My initial comment on the other thread was more non partisan. It still is. I feel sorry for the guy's wife and family. What an awful thing to do to them. Irresponsible to the max.

Posted by peter at March 10, 2008 02:25 PM

I flippeed on Fox for grins and it was wall to wall pix of Spitzer...with Hillary.

Posted by at March 10, 2008 02:28 PM

peter,

vitter was in the house, when he had his private matter. a lawmaker is not significantly different than a law enforcer.

Posted by Turkana at March 10, 2008 02:30 PM

anonymous,

since i know who you are, i'm not surprised you turned on faux news.

Posted by Turkana at March 10, 2008 02:32 PM

Howd, I thought you were the party of change? Not more of the same?

Which is it?

Posted by lordtyranus2 at March 10, 2008 02:36 PM

Okay then...that's how you really feel? For someone making plenty of enemies a long the way...Integrity

Convicting others of what he's accused of...doesn't matter????? It Okay for him???

Two Americas???

Vitter's different...no charges, nor indictment. Sure it's wrong, wrong headed.

Posted by peter at March 10, 2008 02:45 PM

i actually have no problems with consenting adults doing whatever they do in their personal lives. not my business. but, now- i see no significant difference between a governor or a lawmaker possibly breaking laws. particularly given that the lawmaker is a pseudo-theocrat, who has publicly condemned others for doing whatever they do with their own personal lives. as for the no charges and no indictments- statute of limitations. which was part of my point. if the repugs want to foist their false morality upon us, they shouldn't care about the legal technicalities that allowed vitter to evade legal consequences.

Posted by Turkana at March 10, 2008 02:50 PM

Or the law in New York is different than the law in Louisiana?

Posted by lordtyranus2 at March 10, 2008 02:56 PM

Ethics reform, raise the culture, raise the level of competence. Come on Turkana. He misses his own marks. He would convict himself were he to seperate himself from this. You really want to accept this lower standards from these guys? My point is these two individuals and their cases are not the same. Surely you do know this. "Serious and disturbing" "owed money from past encounters"

Posted by peter at March 10, 2008 03:12 PM

peter,

to suggest they are significantly different is absurd. and you well know it.

Posted by Turkana at March 10, 2008 03:14 PM

We won't be hearing ANYTHING about ethics this fall in the GE campaign. I'm with you, Jay.

Posted by peter at March 10, 2008 03:38 PM

gosh, jay, that was deep. try this idea- what people do with their personal lives does not impact others. how people use energy does.

Posted by Turkana at March 10, 2008 03:40 PM

okay, jay

i get it. you and logic are not well-acquainted.

Posted by Turkana at March 10, 2008 03:54 PM

I want to know what he (Spitzer) "got" for a reported $4300.00 / hour.....

Posted by Bagley at March 10, 2008 03:58 PM

I actually agree with Bagley on this one: what exactly did Spitz get for that hourly rate? Well, perhaps we can start another blog for that sort of thing . . .

Posted by Steve Soto at March 10, 2008 04:23 PM

Please Steve...don't bother...oh BTW did he have his security with him? Were they standing guard while he was enjoying this "Kristen's" advantages. Who paid for his security? How did he pay? For his arrears? Are we going to make the same noise we heard about Mayor Giuliani and his adventures at taxpayers expense?

Posted by peter at March 10, 2008 04:33 PM

God, this looks bad. It seems the feds are going to bust him on structuring. And Spitzer had been my secret hope for a great Democratic president (Mind you, this was before his first year as governor, which has just been...not good).

Damn shame. If he had just had an affair, he'd be fine, but he had go to damn prostitutes.

Posted by Nathan at March 10, 2008 04:37 PM

They both should resign.

Posted by mostest at March 10, 2008 04:37 PM

jay,

of course that has nothing to do with this situation. and also, of course, that obviously means you support better sex ed in schools, and better availability of condoms to those who can't afford them or find them, right?

Posted by Turkana at March 10, 2008 04:42 PM

shorter pants pissing peter:
IOKIYAR (it's ok if you're a republican)

jay: "They already have a 2 year backlog on wind turbines and they don't have to worry about foreign competition, since Democrats (and repubs to a lesser degree) are fear mongering protectionists."

Yeah, since Democrats controlled the Federal government for the past 7 years. Oh, wait, that's not right. And did the Democrats pass a ban on the importation of wind turbines while we weren't looking?

Posted by gay veteran at March 10, 2008 04:48 PM

I'm just wondering if I'd be standing up there next to my husband if I were the wife of Spitzer, Vitter, (geez, what's that wide-stance guy's name??), etc. I don't think so. I'd let him have his shameful moment in the limelight all by his damn self.

Posted by CG at March 10, 2008 05:01 PM

jay,

your understanding of the constitution boggles the mind. as does your ability to keep changing the subject.

Posted by Turkana at March 10, 2008 05:11 PM

"my secret hope for a great Democratic president"

Well keep hoping because it virtually impossible to name one. And don't say "Clinton"

Posted by jj at March 10, 2008 05:22 PM

should have known this would bring out the right-wing trolls in force: gay porn star lordtyranus2, pants pissing peter, jarjar jj, bagless bagley, and perfessor jay

And a gay vet that doesn't vote...boy thing in this country just must be great for you to not vote.

You should have known??

You are a silly one !

Posted by jj at March 10, 2008 07:14 PM

Just add hominids and stir.

Posted by Copeland at March 10, 2008 07:39 PM

What about Senator Larry Craig??
And Senator Vitter??
They are still in their positions.
Spitzer is my governor and I never cared much for him, but I don't think he has to resign yet.
Huge disappointment and embarrassment. What a disgrace he is!!!

Posted by rosefred at March 10, 2008 09:24 PM

All the cockless roaches come out for the sex stories don't they?

Pretty stunning display of stupidity, if, proven true.

Why is it that this is a "Prostitution" ring? Why isn't it a "Call Girl" ring like they usually call these Call Girl operations?

Well, let me answer my own question. Because calling it "Prostitution" ring makes it dirty and ugly and nasty pimps pushing their young Ho's for blow jobs in alleys and sleezy New York flea bitten Hotels.

Nothing like the girls that Mitchell Wade was providing for Randy Cunningham, no, for some reason the corporate media has glommed onto the "Prostitution" ring language and this across State lines hokum.

Just a taste for the Democrats of what the Corporations have in store for them if they insist on finding out the truth about FISA, I'd say, and who better than the guy that's pounded Wall Street thieves for years, eh?

Don't care what the scumbag losers think, they only wish us ill with their hate and inhumanity.

"Prostitution" ring makes it dirty and ugly and nasty pimps pushing their young Ho's for blow jobs in alleys and sleezy New York flea bitten Hotels.

Astute observation Duckman.

I am curious how the story will be framed as it grows.

Posted by Anjha at March 10, 2008 10:18 PM

Eliot Spitzer just got "Siegelmanned."

Reportedly, Democratic Governor Spitzer's bank noticed some unusual money transfers. Could it have been a case of identity theft? Nawww. So the bank, instead of contacting Governor Spitzer, contacts the IRS instead, which then contacts the FBI, which turns it over to a special task force, which begins investigating.

I don't know about you, but this reeks of a political hit job. If I were Governor Spitzer, I'd spit in the face of anyone calling for my resignation...just as David Vitter did.

Because this reeks of what was done, on orders of Karl Rove, to former Alabama governor Don Siegelman who is now serving time in a federal prison after being railroaded by Republicans in a political hit job.

Spitzer, therefore, should hold firm and remain as governor of New York State, while the Democratic controlled Congress should launch investigations into how this investigation of Spitzer began as well as into who leaked his name to the press.

And I figure we will see even more of this as this election year progresses. I mean, with the Bush administration's expanded surveillance (and calls of retroactive immunity for those companies spying on U.S. citizens), I figure even more Democrats will find themselves the target of Republicans fishing expeditions and possible arrest...talk about a new variation on the culture of corruption Republican Party's "caging" scheme...with "caging" referring to the actual arrest and incarceration of enough Democrats before November to hand the election to John McCain.

What? You don't think the Republicans would pull such a stunt? Where have you been for the past seven and a half years? We are dealing with pure evil in the machinations of today's corrupt Republican/Fascist Party. Or haven't you noticed?

Posted by The Oracle at March 11, 2008 12:47 AM

perfessor Jay: Nothing bolsters an argument like ad hominens.

That's funny. The right-wing learned early on the value of mockery.

Gee, wonder why the overwhelming majority of Federal cases against politicians are aimed at Democrats since 2001? After Dear Leader politicized the Justice Department there should be automatic skepticism of any charges brought against a Democrat.

Posted by Gay Veteran at March 11, 2008 05:27 AM

The Oracle, spot on. Democrats better be on their toes until November. No behind the scene phone calls, e-mails, etc. It better be written on edible paper for easy disposal.

Spitzer should launch his own investigation into the Federal Wireless Tapping Program. Find out if this was a legal wiretap and warrants were obtained. This could be the push back and in the public light to finally correct our constitution and protect American's privacy.

Of course, I'm fucking dreaming!

Posted by Seven of Six at March 11, 2008 08:51 AM

I guess they were court ordered wiretaps.

Still sounds like a hit job to me.
Democrats must tread lightly the rest of the year.

Posted by Seven of Six at March 11, 2008 09:05 AM

Vitter's different...no charges

Um, PPP? I'm pretty sure prostitution's a crime, even in Louisiana.

Besides, I want to know what the rules are. Whatever ones the Republican'ts will live by, I'll agree to 'em too. Otherwise, they can KMA.

And, yeah, I too wondered about a politically-inspired investigation, especially when I heard about how quickly this one developed as compared to the norm and the weird-assed "...part of a prostitution ring..." media formulation. (As though Spitzer was the f'ing kingpin, instead of just another client). The Seligman case proves it can't be ruled out too quickly.

Yeah, pete, how many "Family Values" speeches has Vitter given in his career? If it's a number exceeding zero--he's in the same moral boat as Spitzer in terms of failing to meet his own standards. How 'bout you and your buddies set the example for once?

Posted by bartcopfan at March 11, 2008 11:08 AM

bartcopfan, pants pissing peter should "set the example" by joining the Army and going to Iraq.

Posted by Gay Veteran at March 11, 2008 12:08 PM

Wow, conspiracy theories? Bush sent these hookers into Spitzer's bedroom and seduced him?

Posted by lordtyranus2 at March 11, 2008 12:27 PM

Just as Clinton did, you mean?

And "Wide Stance Larry"!

Posted by Seven of Six at March 11, 2008 03:07 PM

Just for grins

A jury Friday acquitted a Minneapolis man arrested in the same airport bathroom sex-sting operation that snared U.S. Sen. Larry Craig.

Vince Tuzon, 39, of Minneapolis, claimed he couldn't be guilty of interfering with the undercover officer's privacy because the officer is the one who invited the invasion with foot-tapping. That is an argument Craig has raised in trying to withdraw his guilty plea.

In Tuzon's case, a Hennepin County jury agreed.

Must be a conspiracy going on to raise revenue.

Posted by peter at March 11, 2008 03:18 PM

More grins

Even there...wow!

Posted by peter at March 11, 2008 03:30 PM

I see pants pissing peter is getting his legal defense ready, should come in handy for him

Posted by gay veteran at March 11, 2008 03:41 PM

Entrapment... after he plead guilty to a lesser charge?
