a little early morning blogwhoring...
I recently guest-blogged over at Corrente, on a study of the gender data I did of the latest SUSA 50 state general election poll. I found that while the “gender gap” is alive and well, it widens considerably when Clinton is the candidate --- and the widening is based almost entirely in men changing their votes to vote for the male candidate.
It can be seen at http://www.correntewire.com/misogyny_sexism_the_gender_gap_in_the_2008_election. The opening paragraphs are below.
**********
Misogyny, sexism, and the gender gap are alive and well in the American electorate.
Overall, men prefer McCain over either Democrat, while women prefer either Democrat over McCain. But the gender gap widens considerably when a woman is running. When McCain is matched with Obama, the gap is 13.9% (comprising 7% of voters), but when it is McCain versus Clinton, the gap nearly doubles to 26.9% (comprising 13.5% of voters.)
The expansion of the gender gap is due almost entirely to changes in how men vote. Only a few more women (1.6%, comprising 0.9% of all voters) prefer Clinton when matched with McCain than when Obama is matched with McCain—women pretty much stick with the Democrat regardless of whether its Clinton or Obama. But far more men (11.3%, comprising 5.6% of all voters) prefer Obama when matched against McCain than when its Clinton versus McCain. As a result, when the margins in all 50 states are averaged, Clinton gets 4.3% fewer votes than McCain, while Obama get 0.4% more votes than McCain….
Smelly bolshevik, telling me I shoulda voted for Her Inevitable Majesty because otherwise I'll be deemed sexist. Shallow identity politics is worthy of insects.
Posted by onar at March 12, 2008 05:27 AMIs Ferraro actually part of the Clinton campaign or not? I've heard her called a supporter, but I've also heard she should step down from the Clinton campaign. Is she working for Hillary?

please inform the Obama supporters of this.
I dont think they got the memo.
Is she working for Hillary
she has some official role in finance.
dont know if she is paid.
I think she should shut up now.
wow
if you havent seen (or heard) Bush at the Gridiron dinner and you would like something to spoil the rest of the day check it out. caution, may cause loss of self control:
She's a supporter like you could be a supporter.
Hey smooth, Texas Democrats may void the caucus results...they can't seem to come up with a result(41% for a week)...any result from the March 4th evening. So...Clinton won Texas, period. Sure she only recieved a 4 delegate margin...maybe they will re-allocate the delegates by the primary vote only.

if you are talking about Ferraro she is a member of the Finance Committee and a "major fundraiser"
that is not something most people can do.
pants pissing peter, aren't you supposed to be in Fallujah reporting on the bike race
Posted by Gay Veteran at March 12, 2008 07:23 AMI've been listening to NPR "reporters" describing the net which caught Elliot Spitzer and am increasingly appalled. For the second day, the "reporter" and it no longer seems necessary to distinguish among them, has been conducting interviews with businessmen who run companies that are engaged in the exciting new technology of profiling EVERYONE.
This intrepid "reporter" seems most excited at pointing out the knee-slapping irony that the main reason that Spitzer was caught is because the New York Attorney General insisted that the bank monitoring software be installed about 10 years ago, when he was going after Wall St. firms. Uh-Hyuck! Gawrsh! That's funny!
Apparently, since 9/11 and the Patriot Act, EVERY little transaction that takes place in Amerika, down to a suspicious pattern of buying $4 hoagies from too many 7-11, is subjected to software which seeks "suspicious" behavior. To my utter shock, politicians (cough*Democrats*cough)are subjected to special scrutiny with the cute and fuzzy little acronym PEPs.
Now if Elliot Spitzer is REALLY guilty of throwing $80,000 after prostitutes, I have no sympathy. To paraphrase a classic line from a great classic movie, Army of Darkness "You found me intelligent once! To which the response is, "Honey, you got real stupid!"
What surprises me greatly, is that the former Attorney General, one who instigated transaction tracking software in the banking system, was so stupid to get caught with his peccadillo hanging. The ONLY explanation that makes any sense, and which seems to completely escape the NPR Nimrod, is that something very new and illegal has been going on since 9/11.
This process seems, in my humble opinion, to be EXACTLY the description of the Total Information Awareness program. You remember that, don't you? The one that Congress, is 2003 deemed UNCONSTITUTIONAL and forbade Rumsfeld and Poindexter to proceed with. Of course, they just used the magic word, Terrorism Information Awareness and went on their merry way. When you've 50-150 Billion in unaccounted funds sloshing around, you do what the Hell you want.
So now we have an explanation to the Telecom secret rooms, siphoning off ALL internet traffic with no explanations or excuses. We have private companies, (Diebold anyone?) matching every transaction with EVERY person who uses debit or credit cards for their purchase. We already know they have politicians on special lists, for greater scrutiny. Almost certainly they have other lists: Terrorist watch list, no fly list, Quaker, subversive, anti-war lists, people who sign lefty petitions?
It's a BRAVE NEW WORLD! Aren't we excited?
Posted by DeminNewJ at March 12, 2008 07:32 AMOh NJ, you need to switch off the coffee. Your shadow has a conspiracy hiding in it...what a crock full of it you have laid out here. And let's remember folks, Senator Obama voted FOR the reauthorization of the Patriot Act.
Leave the alarm for something more deserving. Gov. Spitzer made this mess himself and has only himself to blame. No "Brave New World" here, shame he put his family through this.
Posted by peter at March 12, 2008 07:52 AMNorth Pointe or North Fork Bank did the notifying with the funds being moved around to various shell companies. It seems the money movement by the EC VIP attracked attention, trying to make the funds look like a legit business.
Posted by peter at March 12, 2008 09:13 AMDeminNewJ, right-wing trolls like pants pissing peter don't mind that Big Government is monitoring his every action. So much for "give me liberty or give me death"
and in the Age of Bush (where you can be a good American or a good Republican but not both) you should consider that everything you do is indeed being monitored

BAGHDAD — U.S. authorities in Baghdad have received five severed fingers belonging to four Americans and an Austrian who were taken hostage more than a year ago in Iraq, officials here said today. The FBI is investigating the grisly development, and the families of the five kidnapped contractors have been notified, American officials said on condition of anonymity because only Washington officials are permitted to publicly discuss the matter.
