I'd love to hear a presidential candidate make the following statement: "If elected, I'll see that you can take your toothpaste on airtrips, and you'll not be subjected to removing your shoes just because one person out of millions of yearly passengers had some goofy contraption stuck in his heel. " All of that crap is just part of the Bush/Rove Fear tactic.
Posted by T2 at March 28, 2008 08:56 AMThanks for pointing this out, Jeff, I think Shakesville talked about this as well. Apparently, the crowd of male security guards weren't all that interested in the belly button ring, which they didn't demand to see and remove.
But hey, there's no sexism in America anymore, is there?
Posted by iamcoyote at March 28, 2008 08:57 AMRings, bars, its written in the rules, you know those same type of rules that Chrm. Dean likes to selectively enforce.
Posted by peter at March 28, 2008 08:57 AMHi, Coyote. I didn't see Shakesville yet today, I'm gonna go over there right now, my brother sent me the story with a message line of "I hate this country" or something like that. Good point about the belly button ring, too.
Have a good weekend. I think I'm gonna curl up into a ball.
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at March 28, 2008 09:08 AMIndeed, Melissa does a great job with this story. She's great.
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at March 28, 2008 09:15 AMHey, Jeff! Glad you found the link, I was too lazy to do it. You gotta love Melissa, she can get her snark on like nobody's business. It's comforting to know there are people on the 'nets who actually get it, and a place to go to rant about it!
Posted by iamcoyote at March 28, 2008 09:22 AM[Stick to the topic, and stop with the sexist and violent language. Final warning. - mod.]
Posted by RAM at March 28, 2008 09:58 AMPeter, as apposed to the Law's the Bush and McCain ignore?

Posted by headxray at March 28, 2008 10:50 AMIn protest.. all men should go through the airport metal detector with something metal in our underwear (unless you already have a railroad spike through your Johnson, then you get to be yourself) just to see what happens..

Posted by Jolly Sapper at March 28, 2008 11:14 AMof course you don't like Olbermann, he's not a Hillary partisan
Posted by Gay Veteran at March 28, 2008 11:48 AMI didn't like Olberman before the primaries, GV. Just another talking head.
Posted by iamcoyote at March 28, 2008 12:20 PMI used to admire Keith Olbermann when he was speaking out against the Bush administration but I lost all respect when he became a partisan for Obama as the chosen one. Newspeople are supposed to report the news, not tell us how they feel about the news or how they think we should vote. I stopped watching Olbermann and refuse to give MSNBC the hits from visiting their site, along with DailyKOS, Americablog and Talking Points Memo for the same reason. You can't point out anything which detracts from the Obama myth on these websites without being attacked by his supporters. When the dust settles and the nominee is chosen, there be enough bitterness to last a lifetime. Thanks go to Howard Dean for making such a mess for the Democratic party by disenfranchising the voters in MI and FL but not doing the same in SC because their election dates were too early. Dean is bending over backwards to support Obama and doesn't seem to realize that is not his role. Nor does it belong to Nancy Pelosi of some of the others. They all need to back off and let voters decide who the nominee is.
Posted by Motherbear at March 28, 2008 01:10 PMBefore my inevitable banning, I'd like to express for the final time my sentiments about how pathetic this site has become.
You've sold your souls to justify a bandwagon endorsement of an undeserving candidate. Which obviously didn't work out. Enjoy your irrelevance, and good riddance.
Goodnight, and good luck.

Thank you, Jeff. You have no idea how much I needed to read that at the moment. :)
Posted by Melissa McEwan at March 28, 2008 01:56 PMSo great is my visceral hatred of this airport gestapo horseshit that I simply don't fly anymore except when I have to go to Belgium.
God I would love to see a nationwide passenger strike – let the whole godforsaken industry and its blackwater-wannabe greeters just sit and fucking rot for a while.

guess Motherbear needs to leave the den more often, Olbremann is not a reporter
