"It's almost as if there's a war going on."
Congratulations, Turkana, the obvious has finally occurred to you: there is a war going on.
What side do you think should win: Muslim Terrorism or the Western World?
Posted by Bagley at April 1, 2008 07:04 PMbagley,
i'd suggest you first make peace with reality, then we can discuss politics.
Posted by Turkana at April 1, 2008 07:06 PM"...peace with reality..."
Once there were two buildings in New York.
Once there was a plane flying over Pennsylvania.
Once there was a building in Washington, DC. (It required a great deal of repair.)
There are more examples, if you want....
What reality, Turkana?
And, it is a very simple question: why do have so difficult-a-time aswering the question?
Posted by Bagley at April 1, 2008 07:12 PMgee, bagley
everyone from the cia to the pentagon to the senate to the 9/11 commission to bushy boy himself admits there's no link between 9/11 and iraq, but you're one of the last holdouts. it's impressive, in a psychotic delusional sort of way.
Posted by Turkana at April 1, 2008 07:15 PMTurkana,
The question is simple. I am not asking for a discourse on how the war should won (tactics and strategies): simply, which side -- Muslim Terrorism or the Western World -- do you think should win?
Posted by Bagley at April 1, 2008 07:25 PMI'm new here. Is this delusional troll a regular, or what?
Posted by scottreads at April 1, 2008 07:44 PM"I'm new here."
Welcome, scottreads.
"Is this delusional troll a regular, or what?"
No, Turkana, is one of the contributors.
In any event: thanks to TLC for the bandwidth. Goodnight all.
P.S. Lurkers are welcome to come out now. (Turkana, you too!)
Posted by Bagley at April 1, 2008 07:47 PMOther questions that Turkana must answer:
Faster - Flash or Superman?
Better - Coke or Pepsi?
Beardier - Castro or Bin Laden?
Truthier - Bush or Cheney?
Posted by scottreads at April 1, 2008 07:48 PMScottreads, Peter and Bagley are the only two people left in this Country who think there is a link between Iraq and 9/11. They have also bought the 'fear tactics' by this Administration, thus there is a Muslim terrorist under every bed. They are inadequate trolls, who show their ignorance and limited reasoning on a daily basis. Now watch for their response to me. I will be "dumber than a bag of hammers."
Posted by Judith at April 1, 2008 08:11 PM19 terrorists had a mission.
To turn Bush and Bags into chronic bedwetters.
Mission accomplished.
Posted by TIKI AL at April 1, 2008 08:11 PMSuperman overall, Flash only on the ground, still up for debate though. Pepsi, Ben Laden, and Bush.

Turkana, nice of you to notice there's a war going on. This one has us flying air support with some special ops on the ground. Sadr's losing ground each day. Don't sound so pessimistic, Maliki going after those other people...you know some I mentioned the other day. Sadr's just complaining cause his allies seem to be disappearing and they needed to.
The United Alliance List delegation comprising Ali al-Adib of the Da’awa Party, Hadi al-Ameri of the Badr Organization and (I think…) Qasim al-Sahlani representing a group that had splintered from the Da’awa Party, evidently made al-Sadr an offer he couldn’t refuse when they sat down for a friendly chat in Tehran two days ago: the Iraqi state was willing to go all the way in smashing the Sadrist movement—arresting all the leaders and shutting down all the offices—if he didn’t play along with Operation Cavalry Charge and hand over those operatives whose names appear on the wanted lists.
See Maliki went to Basra with a long-ish list of names comprising all those involved in oil smuggling, drug dealing and the various other crimes that have wracked Basra. It just so happens that many of them claim to be Mahdi Army commanders.
The outbreak of violence in places other than Basra was an occasion for the Iraqi Army and police to act on arrest warrants that have been outstanding since 2004, for example, several such dangerous outlaws were taken into custody in Karbala and Hillah.
Reports of Iran's 'Sardar Hajji' Qasim Suleimani, head of the Revolutionary Guard's Qarargah Quds (Force), was somehow involved in brokering a 'ceasefire' between Maliki and al-Sadr is a "naive fabrication".

Thousands of British troops are to remain in Iraq longer than expected because of the recent upsurge of violence in Basra, the Defence Secretary announced today. PM Brown may send more into the area.
Judith, nice to see ya. And you're wrong there...I know there wasn't a direct connection between the September 11th attacks and Iraq. There were no orders coming out of Iraq for these attacks on America. That said, Saddam did harbor many different terrorist groups within his country. This argument is an old one Judith. We're "present" there now, we need to fix it as best as we can.
Posted by peter at April 1, 2008 08:51 PMSo petie, out of these 3 major Shia players-
1.) the Dawa party
2.) SIIC and it's armed Badr Brigades
3.) Followers of al-Sadr
Which one is getting more help from Iran?
And one is driven from Iraq, where will they flee too?
If al Maliki loses out, does he return to exile in Iran or Syria? Both places he fled to under threat from Saddam.
Please, Progressive Americans want to understand the Shia in Iraq - Iranian influence from a neo-con frame of mind?
After that, riddle me this: Who in Iraq has the target on their backs?
Posted by Seven of Six at April 1, 2008 10:15 PMWelcome scottreads. Every once in a while on this site, a groundhog gets out of his/her hole, and Steve Soto/Turkana are kind enough to let them see their shaddow before they return to the darkness of the rightwing underground.
Posted by redstater at April 1, 2008 10:57 PMWhat bagley and others of his species refuse to understand is this: the fighting in Iraq is, with very few exceptions, not terrorism. It is comprised of two parts. One part is Iraqi citizens wanting an invading army (the U.S. Army) to get the hell out of their country. The other part is three factions (Shiite, Sunni, and Kurd) who violently dislike each other. Hussein, for all of his faults, forced them to behave. But as there is no effective government in Iraq right now, they are doing whatever they want - kill each other.
Posted by jwrjr at April 1, 2008 10:57 PMNo, no, no, we are fighting 'em over there so we don't have to fight 'em over here (or something like that). Jeez, have you guys learned nothing.
Posted by Judith at April 2, 2008 04:40 AM"What side do you think should win: Muslim Terrorism or the Western World?"
Answer: Doesn't matter who you think should win, the Terrorists are winning. You remember, George, Dick and Osama?
By-the-way, where is Osama these days?
Posted by Judith at April 2, 2008 04:51 AMBagley's point is made. Really don't need the hammer analogy.
Posted by jj at April 2, 2008 05:48 AMbagless bagley: "What side do you think should win: Muslim Terrorism or the Western World?"
you already choose Muslim Terrorism since you have not joined the Army to fight in the War of Civilizations. coward
bagless bagley: "...Once there were two buildings in New York...."
yes, and Bush LET the criminal mastermind Osama escape
Judith: "They are inadequate trolls..."
well, I have to disgree, pants pissing peter and bagless bagley (and jarjar jj, too) are perfectly adequate as trolls ;)
Posted by Gay Veteran at April 2, 2008 12:12 PMBagley -
It is a fact that there is no organized worldwide Muslim terrorist movement. To believe that there is just because Bush and Cheney say so makes you look - well - not too terribly bright. Don't feel bad. Even our president - the hapless In-curious George - didn't know there was more than one ethnic group in Eye-rak. Or he didn't WANT to know which is much, much worse.
