Comments: Doing The Job As Well As Bush Does

as I said in Open Thread, the confusion and general incompetence in Maliki's actions have Bush/Cheney written all over it. If people weren't dying, it would make a great Three Stooges episode.

Maliki and Bush could fuck up a 2 car parade, the difference between the two being that Dear Leader has truly dictatorial powers.

well GV, speaking of parades, al Sadr has called his followers to a one million person march against the US Occupation. It will coincide with Crockof and Petraeus' Congressional testimony next week (currently being written by the White House) that will no doubt feature the "Surge is Success, but we can't leave" party line. The opportunity for this march to turn into a helicopter gunship firing range is possible. But either peaceful or violent, it will make for an interesting news cycle....with Petraeus telling us the Maliki government is making progress on one channel, while photos of a million Iraqis are yelling "get out of our country" are on the screen on another.

GV: You have underestimated Maliki and Bush.

They could fuck up a 2 car parade in a wet dream.

I don't believe that the Iraqi "army" could (or would) initiate latrine duty without GenPet's prior approval, and the Imperial sturmtruppen have every incentive to act as though they weren't properly "apprised" of the latest fiasco.

In earlier press accounts (as the "mission" was just getting underway) GenPet's boys were acting like we were well aware of what was going down and supportive of it. Bush certainly acted like we were "behind" the offensive and "knew" about it beforehand in his usual lamebrained comments.

The simple logistics and intelligence needed the operation would have been beyond the Iraqi army's capabilities---we HAD to be involved early on.

Now, there seems to be a different story, and of course Team MSM doesn't think that it's their job to try to reconcile the conflicting statements from the Empire's Troops.

I seriously doubt Maliki does very much without the approval of the Empire, especially initiate large scale military operations. His position seems pretty shaky for such daring, nor does he come across as particularly "impulsive" in his actions to date. Mostly it's a lot of foot dragging, not rash action.

So I'm doubting most of what our propaganda press is dishing out on this. Getting accurate information is becoming impossible, IMO.
