except, of course, what you australopithecines don't understand is that iraq was a war of choice, so every penny spent there is wasted. on killing and maiming people and destroying a country. not to mention our national security. i realize it's too complicated for you to comprehend, but that's why you're you.
Posted by Turkana at April 3, 2008 05:07 PMIronic that many ads on TV and at ROTC booths stress that getting help with pursuing educational opportunities (like college) is a good way to both serve your country and educate yourself. I think that what is mostly valued by the current administration is not the intelligence or potential of those who serve in the military, but their willingness to be unquestioning grunts. It's so insulting to the the honor and integrity of those in uniform, but when you see what this administration offers them as gratitude when they have completed their service, you realize that degrading and insulting our men and women in the military is just part of their mindset. Using the military as pawns to advance anyone's personal or corporate agenda is avery sick thing. Hence the extra meaning implicit in the statement that Cheney, for example, is a very sick man.

A day after the great Sadr called his guys off over 1000 men of Basra flocked to join the Iraqi Army. I surely know who the "strong horse" is now. A great day for Iraq, a bad day for Sadr. Maliki continues to round up the bad guys, clearing one district at a time.

One step closer to American soldiers. Smart move!
Posted by Seven of Six at April 3, 2008 09:34 PMI guess I'm gonna need the link petie.
I have one that says, More than 1,000 Iraqi soldiers and policemen either refused to fight or simply abandoned their posts during the inconclusive assault against Shiite militias in Basra last week, a senior Iraqi government official said Thursday. Iraqi military officials said the group included dozens of officers, including at least two senior field commanders in the battle.
Of course leave it to the right to spin it the other way!
Is there any Iraq "fact"-turd too small for peter to wolf down with relish?
Maliki is "rounding up the bad guys", eh? Yeah that's the conclusion any sensible oerson would reach after the past week.
Why is Sadr a "bad guy" again? Oh yeah, he wants an end to our oil occupation. Too bad he's the leader of an actual political movement that has substantial elected MPs in Parliament---that pesky "democracy" idea doesn't seem to hold much water for wingnut Rightists like petr the pinhead.
