If lazy complacent people from the top down would have simply been doing their jobs to the best of their ability, 9-11 could have been prevented.
And when they all failed miserably, they didn't even have the common decency to commit collective Hara Kiri.
They probably would have screwed that up too.

I heard about Mukasey's statement on NPR last week, and waited for the MSM to pick-up the story. Silence.
Posted by Judith at April 3, 2008 08:52 PMJust before Mukasey mentions the safe house in Afghanistan, he refers to Iraq as the origination point for the pre-911 call to the U.S., which in and of itself raises some interesting questions.
No, I'm not saying (like a bunch of wingnuts believe) that Iraqis, and Saddam Hussein, were behind the 9/11 attacks, but I find it interesting that Mukasey first references Iraq (since we know it was a bunch of Saudi Arabians led by Osama bin Laden, operating out of Afghanistan), then corrects it.
Maybe Mukasey is one of the wingnuts who bought the Bush administration's lies about an Iraq/al Qaeda pre-9/11 connection, causing him to momentarily deviate from what must have been a prepared script, instantly realizing he had misspoke and changing it to "safe house in Afghanistan."
This little mental blip by Mukasey makes me think that there was a pre-9/11 communication between Afghanistan and one of the al Qaeda terrorists in the U.S. which was intercepted by the NSA, tracked to a "safe house in Afghanistan," after which the Bush administration did nothing about it.
The Bush administration has endangered the lives of everyone in the United States from the moment Bush and Cheney, with the help of their crony pals on the Supreme Court, stole the election in 2000.
